Silly question - How do these amps sound with effects? I tried an old ashdown abm (is that the one with the sliders?) and found it was really muddy and had "too much" lows? Have ashdown sorted this with the mibass?
Couldn't really answer that as i never use effects at all, i also have an ABM 500 and i think this is more defined than that, with the eq it is possible to dial in most tones and is exceptionally versatile. Not 100% sure about this but i'm going to put it out there to see what happens, This was bought new from PMT in Manchester 3 months ago, with the intention of going lightweight and while i really like the ease and portability of this amp i miss some of the features from my old ABM, so going to see if there is any interest out there for it. Being a bit of a technophobe i have attached the info from the Ashdown site which explains all the features better than i could It fits in the pocket of a gig bag. Yet it’s big enough to fill a serious venue with warm authoritative Ashdown tone. Designed from the ground up the MiBass 550 packs 550W of Class D power and a plethora of pro features in a stylish, compact bass head measuring just 8.3 x 2.6 x 6.3 inches – and that includes an internal power supply. On the front you’ll find a switchable Active/Passive instrument input, input level control that allows you to match the input signal to your bass using the trademark Ashdown VU meter. The newly designed pre amp centers on a 7 band semi parametric EQ for precision tone shaping, use the rotary controls to select frequency and the sliders to cut or boost to the exact amount needed. Add even more low end with the 'Deep' button or instantly switch to a slap happy tone by engaging the 'Shape' button. The EQ can be bypassed completely with an EQ In/Out switch, the output level controls overall volume and what could be neater than a front panel-mounted line input with level control so you can hook up an MP3 player for practicing. The pro-theme continues around the back, where combination Jack/Speakon speaker outputs share panel space with a Pre/Post switchable balanced DI output for direct connection to a PA or recording console, an FX Send/Return for adding in your favourite effects and a very useful headphone jack for silent practice. Cheapest i can find these for online is £427 so for i cash sale i would be looking for £300 posted which is over £100 off the new price , straight sale only now as i have now acquired an ABM 500 Have attached a couple of iphone pics as i have no camera with me at the moment if you want any more info or more detailed pics drop me a PM Cheers Steve
Used to be mine this one before I traded it with MB1 (for a ABM500 head). Cracking amp and faultless condition. If I had the room and money, I'd have it back!! Have a bump
Thanks for that yes it is immaculate the only reason i'm even considering letting it go is that i now have the 2 cabs and so another amp head would be more practical. cheets steve

I bought this on here from Martin MB1 only about 4 weeks ago intending to leave it at our rehearsal space to save taking stuff backwards and forwards, however since then i have now changed all my stuff and bought 2 ABM cabs one of which i can leave in situ and just use with my MIbass head. This combo is British made dates to 2003 but is absolutely immaculate, contains original Ashdown blueline driver, you get the full 300 watts out of the combo. Has all the usual featues associated with the ABM i have also put a link on to Martins original sale thread. I am looking for £225 for a cash sale or would be interested in a swap for an ABM 500 head not bothered which vintage, but not the Rack case model. Am prepared to post or deliver within North West we can sort out the details if anyone is interested. There is a photo in Martins original thread to be going on with however will attach some more in next day or so. Will be sorry to see this go as it is a fantastic piece of kit for the money however another amp head is more practical for me, at this time. Got this in a trade for my matamp 112's, is a great cab but really looking for 2 ABM Compacts to go with my Ashdown mibass I have now been offered some Ashdown Cabs so to expedite the deal will sell ths for £275, am prepared to post and will consider splitting the cost of postage. These cabs are about £500 new so a saving of £225 can be had. Orange is an 8ohm cab rated at 400 watts RMS and is in excellent condition, Have only got iphone photo at moment if anyone wants more detailed pics will try and get some up tomorrow. If you like your Ashdown then try the new mibass 550, i have recently swapped to one of these from an ABM 500 and there is literally no difference in what you can get out of it. There are some interesting reviews on it on here, If you wanted to try one they stock them at PMT in Manchester or feel free to give me a shout am only in Wigan and you are welcome to call and try mine. Cheers steve

Not sure on rating as i am a techno idiot, just based on what jeff told me that they were 600 watt celestion, think the details are on rear of cab so will post update once i have picked them up. cheers steve
