Didn't you get a little circle of self-adhesive velcro (well, 2 actually.... ) ?
Yeah I did (just one) but I didn't think it would stay sticky for long. Hmm.. so should I have had like a male and female velcro pad for some bug to bass velcro fun? Actually, now I think about it, maybe it is both halves but they are joined together (in a velcro love style situation) already.. me have a look later when I'm back home. Anyway, the Blutac allows me to use it on more than one bass easily.
John McCoy Jimmy Bain Phil Lynott JJ Burnel Justin Chancellor etc...
Just to be a pedantic nob.. Wasn't Phil Lynott from the magical shores of The Republic of Ireland and therefore not British? (Politics and nationalism aside!). Totally agree with JJB though, how could he be missed off the list??

I just bought one of the AKG Bug units and have only tried it at home so far. Gig on NY Eve so I'm looking forward to using it then. On my P bass, I have had to turn the actual Bug volume screw all the way down or I get the red clipping light come on, so those PUPs must be pumping it out My only criticism so far is that it does flap about a bit if I get a bit boisterous (oo~err). The careful application of a bit of Blutack does the job though. No one else in the band has wireless so I should be fine. My two reasons for getting one were 1. Pissed off with getting in a tangle with my cables. 2. Had a few too many 'tickles' when touching the mic and bass at the same time. I don't like all that electrickery.

Some one should introduce her to one of Mr Fender's finest and a nice amp to go with it.

Oh fart. Am I ever gonna find a JG at the right price that I can actually get my hands on without any grief!?! Bless his mum for looking after him. I wonder if she still dresses him in the morning too?

I like mine slung low, so that I can rest my packet on the top of the contour curve. That works for me And I actually get really bad sort of cramp/constriction in my right arm (inside of my elbow joint) if it is bent too much i.e. playing sitting down.

Yeah, I have spotted that and did consider, but I rrrrrrrreally want that 70's TV logo.

I watched and waited and off the bidding went. I would have loved that, but it went a bit too high for me but it did look nice and together. That other one looks nice, but I want a r/w board. Just look at that colour though.. mmmmmmmmmmm creamy

All you have to remember at times like this is - I'm not the drummer.
-
Hmm That's kinda interesting. Swap the PUPs out for some QPs maybe? I suppose if it is original, the bidding should rocket very soon. I'm sorta tempted, but it seems to good to be true you know? I'd love any further advice BCers. I could collect too, not far from my work. Damn.. is this GAS begining??

I would be a hypocrite if I said anything else but black. So. BLACK!! Go stealth my friend, go stealth.

What sort of covers are we talking?

Hi What do you guys use for a stand at a gig that will take two basses safely? I have a single bass one and am really frightened that it'll topple over, just seems badly balanced, that and I really ought to have the spare bass out on show too I'm not looking to solve the credit crunch single handedly, so a good price is part of my equation.
Not easy to play.... but GREAT FUN to play.... "Christmas Wrapping" by the Waitresses
Oh yeah! Not thought of that one -
Yeah. That dreaded time of year is coming and we have a couple of gigs lined up and need to included some xmas songs to liven up the party. We currently do Slade's Merry Xmas, but need a couple more maybe. Good singalong, easy to play, everyone knows them classics. What are your choices??? Mark
+1 ... and probably not as described either. I've never seen any pic of Sid playing a sunburst P-Bass (it wouldn't have been 'punk'), and if he did it probably wouldn't be in that poor condition - he hardly had long enough . The white one that Steve Jones has now has obviously been cleaned up, but even so those 70s Fender 'Thick Skin' finishes are pretty bombproof and don't show minor knocks much at all. Sid's bass had a big dent in the front above the bridge, but it's covered by Steve Jones' arm in the pic so you can't see it. I think it is the same bass though, the pattern of 'brightness' of the neck dots is the same, which would be difficult to fake. I suppose it's possible it's one he owned from before the Pistols (and if already secondhand, maybe that would explain the condition), but I would want to see really convincing proof. It would be very easy to take a beaten-up punk-looking P-Bass of roughly the right age that was going to cost too much to put right as a normal playable instrument, and market it as 'ex-Sid' instead... at several times the price.
Yeah, you can see the dents on this pic. The one Jones has has the thumb rest and the screw holes for a bridge cover too. It's that lovely yellow colour now, but if this bass has been covered up since Sid last used it, would Olympic White have discoloured like that? Also the Rosewood neck just looks a bit pale to me, but that could just be lighting in the pic. Sid did little if any bass playing before the Pistols. He failed to get Lemmy to even teach him, who claimed it was impossible!
So who is the proud owner of this sex ?
Alas no Close but no cigar. I believe it was another lucky BCer that gazumped me! Probs for the best anyway, tight purse strings and all that. Still, I can always be swayed if another nice Jetglo appears. Mark -
Hey, nice bass there Raggy. Now.. where on earth have I seen one like that before... hmmmm.. Mark
