1.
Perhaps try this - FreeAmp3 - not tried it myself, but its free & looks to have a couple of bass settings so..........
I have used the last two incarnations of freeamp and the 3rd one is definitely the best for bass. Not sure it excels at clean tones but I love some of the distorted sounds you can get out of it, great fun for shredding along or really over the top solos. It does have an SVT preset but I can't really gauge how accurate it is. Doesn't sound that nice to me on it's own but strikes me as the kind of sound that might work brilliantly in a full band mix.
2. Can you not use the EMU mixer to increase the gain on the dry channel so they are matched before they hit the DAW?
3. Can't believe I am missing this cos of Uni Sounds great!
4. I think I got the last one of these before Steve Kennedy did a runner, took me two months of phone calls to get it though. They are great cabs for the money, well made, lightweight and sound quite good too. I have owned a 410 and 2 2x10s. There are quite a few on this site who have used them.
5. I have been following this tutorial video on double thumbing. When the guy shows you how to hit the string he is able to bend the top joint of his thumb back thus making a curved shape and the only part of his thumb striking the string is the nail. I am unable to bend my thumb back and consequently on the upstroke I am attacking the string with the bit of flesh just above the knuckle. I would like to know if this is a correct way of playing or if I should be adjusting my hand position? I don't want to learn any bad habits so am trying to get it right from the start. I suppose a solution is to move my wrist but this results in bringing my thumb perpendicular to the strings and all videos I have seen have the thumb parallel between the strings. Thanks Chris
6. How would you describe the colour? I used to have a green stained 4 string version and it looked gorgeous

8. Bump Willing to post but can't include the stand or original box if posted.
9. Pignose now sold. Everything else still available!
10. Cabs on hold Head still available
11. This was a bit of an impulse buy after christmas, much as I love synths I can't play keyboard at all and I found that the weird noises (fun as they are) were difficult to incorporate into any band material. So it has sat there gathering dust. You can read reviews here: Emusician Sound on Sound These used to sell for £750 but I am looking for £200 collected with semi hard case with wheels and free stand.
12. BUMP this is now back up for sale having had several deals fall through.
13. I am heading off to university in September so trying to get rid of everything I am not using and drum up some cash. Pedals EXAR Pignose I bought this pedal about a year ago based on the soundclips below. I used it a couple of times playing around with it but never found a use for it with my band. Consequently it has been sitting in its box for the last 10 months. It is in mint condition and has never even had a battery put in to it or been stomped on! Box and manual both supplied. The PN-04 is an envelope-filter, which is controlled by the dynamics of the instrument. The louder the input-signal, the brighter the tone, the lower the inputsignal, the darker the tone. The PN-04 produces a sound similar to a conventional Wah without using a foot-pedal. The three adjustment-knobs allow a wide variety of wah-sounds, also providing a sensitivity-control to fit the needs of your instrument. Awesome soundclipPlenty more soundclips and info on this page I paid £80 your for £60 shipped SOLD PENDING PAYMENT Hartke Bass Attack "The Hartke Bass Attack Pedal is a tone-shaping pre-amp that doubles as a direct box, featuring the famous Hartke Shape Circuitry taken from the 3000 and 4000 amplifiers. The two-button style stomp box has a three band EQ for adjustments of Bass, Treble, and Bright controls, plus a Harmonic control that emulates the warmth and drive of a tube so well that you’ll never want to turn it off. The Hartke Bass Attack Pedal gives you the ability to finally get the sound you want, and everything in between. wealth of I/O connections means that the Bass Attack can be integrated into almost any setup. An XLR Output, switchable between post/pre EQ provides a DI feed straight into a mixer or recorder; the Parallel Output provides the feed to the backline amplifier , but when used in conjection with the Line Output can also double as a second input, allowing the Bass Attack to be used as an FX loop for external effects when recording. Power options are extensive with either a 9v battery, optional PSU or Phantom Power via the XLR providing the juice." I bought this just for the shape filter which is really good for helping out a passive bass and gives you a real extra bit of oomph in a band mix. I must say I really liked the 'overdrive' gritty and very zingy with the brightness up it sounds horrible on it's own but again really works in a band mix, I can provide soundclips of this if anyone wants them. They seem to be £80-90 new shall we say £55 shipped? Visual Sound 1 Spot Pedal Power Supply Not especially exciting but very useful. All the info is here I will also throw in a free daisy chain cable enabling this to power 5 pedals. Comes with original box too. I am not sure how much they cost but perhaps £25 shipped? 15.
the olp/status was okay, but i certainly preffered the sound of the stingray 5 with original neck, something about the olp just sounds a bit, well, cheap and im not mad about the feel of it, cant pin what it is. now they have swapped, obviously i think the 'ray is amazing, the olp again doesnt really get close to how the stingray sounded with its wooden neck, but its good enough i think. i have to say i HATE the olp bridge
Interesting to read all your comments on it. I am sure the neck sounds fantastic on the musicman, I agree that the difference is quite pronounced. I must agree with the comment on the olp/status although that bass really came into it's own in a band situation, something about the sound just cut through the mix like a knife Are you in a band yourself? If so it will be interesting to see how you find your first practice with it. Well spotted about the harmonics too, the olp/status was fantastic for any bits of jaco, I have to work so much harder to get them to ring out on my jazz.

Kev's Feedback

Just sold my OLP with Status neck to Kev. Great guy to deal with, very quick to respond to PMs and he even came from Bristol to Guildford to collect it with one days notice! It doesn't get any better than that

Your very welcome, ironically this is what I had planned to do with the neck in the first place so it's great to see someone able to carry it through
18. For the price that thing is selling you could easily buy a laptop and soundcard, then you would have access to far more in the way of effects and synthesis. Or by one of those V Machines
19.
Bearing in mind the neck alone would cost you £325 to buy - this is a great buy for someone with a SR5 who wants to go graphite. If it was a 4er - I'd have it!

I am pretty sure I have a recording of this so I will post it up ASAP. Lovely bass, and frankly I preferred it to an SR5 I used a fair bit around the same time. Cheers ped
Cheers guys
pm'd, again
PM'd you Kev. Still available
20. Ok I am not really keen on splitting this. I think £300 is a fair price considering the cost of parts etc. and the fact that status necks rarely come up for sale.
21.
But I should be saving for my long-term goal
Care to enlighten us?
