1. I meant clean as in un coloured. Couple of options / thoughts have come up - either a super clean head, or get myself a decent power amp and experiment with Pre-Amps to taste.
2. Not tried either of the above. However I have had extensive use of a shure slx system which is not digital but I always found it to be very good. As it is older tech it might be possible to get a used one cheaper.
3. Sold this fine basschatter my EBS neo 115 cab - excellent transaction and first class comms all along, deal in confidence. Chris
4. Hi So I bought this a few months ago new. It is a great amp, works perfectly, but have gigged it a few times I am coming to the conclusion that it is not for me. Great warm tones, great overdrive is possible too, fantastic build too. Couple of marks on the top of the unit, see pics, but in all other respects it is immaculate. Looking for £440 ono, or might consider trading for something from: Markbass Genz Shuttle (9 or 9.2 maybe) EA Acoustic Image. Basically something clean sounding that I can use as a platform to add distortion to with a pedal. Cheers for looking. 5. You know, gigged last night again, and the STM is great. However, the set up I have been happiest with in my bass playing life to date has been: SR4 Sansamp BDDI (for grit where necessary) Markbass Std 104 I have none of the above equipment any more.....the reason for this folly is that I play guitar and drums also, and moved over to drums for a couple of years, so sold alot of my bass stuff to fund kit upgrades. Music is my profession, so I need to keep up 3 pr spec rigs (guitar, bass and drums) - but I don'e have the funds to do this to my ultimate satisfaction. I wonder how much of my sound was due to the SR4 ( see my other thread) or whether it is all 3 things in tandem. I could get a crystal clear sound, but when things get rocky/indie (Killers, Specials, Clash etc) I could be really gnarly and aggressive with the BDDI (used carefully to avoid the scoop). I'm a bit depressed by this state of affairs lol.
6.
Acoustic Image.
Good shout
7. Cheers. Was pondering one of the EA amps they look great.
8. So, I think I am getting to grips with my Streamliner, and am getting some lovely full wooly valvey tones, nice and warm. But, then I run my bass through my desk and studio monitors at home to brush up a couple of lines today and the clarity is a whole new level of pleasure. This has got me wondering - what is the cleanest most transparent head or amp set up out there? I'm using two Vanderkley 12s which seem fine. I could get my overdrive from a separate pedal. Just curious. Chris
9. I think I would be double checking the wiring in my speaker leads - could be that a stray loose wire is causing one of the leads to short out, maybe under vibration - a long shot, but it would cause issues
10. In what ways are these different from a USA stingray ? Is it minor stuff?
11. The 2 I owned were faultless and I used to gig at volume regularly.
12.
Why's that? The CMD combo sounds great.
Yeah I know. Just referencing some folks opinions that the mb cabs can be bettered. I like them but must say that my vanderkleys are my preference.
13. Be fine. Might not sound as good as some other 112 cabs but perfectly safe I would say.
14.
So why did you get rid of it? There must have been a good reason at the time?
Well, I was trying amps out with it, and then was handed a couple of other basses to try, and the inevitable trade deal was struck. Don't get me wrong, the MTD is great, but, you know, out on the gig, I have always got the sounds I need from a Ray. It must be noted that I don't really like the Ray sound solo, but in the band it works
15.
I have been the proud owner of a EB MM Stingray for many years and and am quite happy with it (sorry to rub it in).
NOOOOOO!!! I have owned three in my time (two fours and a five) and for various reasons now have none...
16. ...that is all.. I know my MTD is great, especially now it has a Bart pup and pre installed, but (not for the first time in my life) I am missing the overall "rightness" of a decent SR4. Oh well...no funds available so that is all really. Anyone else missing a bass/type of bass? :-(
17. What amp head is in that vid? Warwick WA something....looked on their site. Shame I cannot afford a warwick bass - my user name is long out of date when i used to use one..
18. Is it not also a characteristic of the preamp's voicing? I read somewhere that the treble is slightly muted in order to balance out slapping. That could of course be tosh, but be sure that it is not a preamp issue.
19. Thanks Gary. yeah, I won't cry if it stays to be honest, just don't really need it.

22. BLOODY HELL. I didn't need to see that...too nice

24. OK, so it does not look as though I will be able to get a credit note, as I bought it at the end of June this year. Taken some pictures, so you can see that it really is as new. £140 or near offer for this box fresh item. Thanks for looking Chris 07966 849153
