1. Awesome stuff Dave, the fretwork and dots look great! Makes me want to build one myself..... wish I had the facilities to have a go! I'm an ex-carpenter, so I've got some skills, but not the necessary equipment or the money to buy any! Ah well, maybe I'll just have to consider a Firecreek custom.........
2. Something like a Zoom MRS-8 would be great but I think they cost a bit more. Not only is it an 8-track recorder, but it's got a fully programmable drum machine built in with proper pads (like an Alesis SR16 type of thing). It's got effects and all built in too. Not as small as the Pandora I think, but still very portable.
3.
Fair play dude that was f***ing funny !
Ithankyou.
4.
Buggar, I love green. You say it's 2 band eq? You after any trades?
Unless Dave's has been changed, the Basics have a 3-band Glockenklang with push/pull volume for true passive bypass. There is zero volume drop when switching if the EQ is centred. They are very versatile for a single pickup bass!
5. Have a bump on me, another big Sandberg fan here! The Basics are often overlooked by people, but they're unbelievably good basses. In fact, I prefer my Basic to my Cali PM. Effortless to play and sound fantastic. Good luck with the sale Dave, looks like a lovely bass!
6.
Get your dosh back, have a big mug of tea, enjoy counting the aforementioned dosh, pick up the phone, and order a Sandberg Ken Taylor in the finish that you want, get the bass, play the bass, and enjoy counting the remainder of the dosh that you have saved!!! Just my thoughts, LOL Cheers Pete
+1
7. Welcome! I agree with what everyone else has said. When I first started playing my teacher gave me some good advice; lock in with the bass drum, and let the snare breathe (don't play anything on the snare beat). If you follow this very basic premise, you can't fail to find a tight groove with the drummer! I still resort to this if I'm in doubt about what I should be playing. Keep it simple, and then once you've got a solid bassline, think about embelishing it a little WHERE APPROPRIATE! I share the view of some folks above, that the bass is an accompanying instrument, and that you have to know your place in the band and be happy with it! Not to say you can't have your moments to shine........ If in any doubt, keep it simple and tight. It sounds much better than playing too much sloppily (probably not a word). If you're doing covers, I find Guitar Pro transcriptions useful. They're usually pretty accurate, and you can solo the bass track to hear what's going on, or mute it to play along. Hope this helps!
8.
Thanks TRB, Where did you pick yours up from?
I got mine from DV247 in the end, they were one of the cheapest and offered free delivery. I think it was £137(?). Worth shopping around online to see what the best prices are at the moment. I should have also mentioned before that this pedal has a REALLY sturdy, high quality feel to it! Hope you enjoy it if you go for one! I'll have mine at the bass bash if you haven't bought by then and want to try it out. EDIT: Just realised I bought a few other bits at the time; you have to spend over £150 to get free delivery!
9. Looking good Dave! Can't wait to have a go on it next month!
10. I LOVE surf green, but the white scratchplate would be the one for me. Tort looks too confusing!
11. Not bothered about either really. Fair play the designers at Warwick are trying to think of something a bit different, BUT....... you can still do it tastefully! I bet they're mega overpriced too. I think the hardware on the rusty one looks cheap, and the pickup covers look like someone's had a go at them with a can of plastikote! Each to their own I s'pose. I'm sure there are people out there who think they're awesome!
12.
Looks like i've scored a major owngoal ! I can't make it - am away with the wife for the weekend, I even knew about it before suggesting the 27th but didn't think about it as it was so far ahead ! Sunday the 3rd Dec anyone ?!
DUDE!!!
13.
i can do better than £300 ... squier affinity J - i just picked one up this afternoon from my local music emporium (Sound & Image in Chatham ) for 149 (Used) but apparently you can get them for 200-220 ish new - quite frankly im chuffed to pieces it luvverly and spend the £100 you would have saved towards a hartke and you cant really go wrong
The bass he bought in the end was £200.
14. I think the OP took the plunge on that Washburn/status last night.......
15. I would have thought that the basses would be coming by courier, in which case they would've had to be collected yesterday afternoon at the latest for delivery today........ S&T might have their own vans now, but they didn't a few years ago when I was working in a music shop. I suppose they might have hired a local "Man with Van" but still.... Like others have said, if they were serious about appeasing you by delivering today, they should have sent ANYONE to deliver, which I'm sure would have been entirely possible. If they're BSing you again, it really is appalling.
16.
Have you been in bed or something and missed the 7 page thread on these here? Yay, Fenders or something
I thought this all seemed a bit familiar, but just assumed it was me losing the plot!
17. I see you've taken the plunge, falcodub!
18. I think the concept is okay, but to me it seems like a lot of money for a "novelty" bass. The Aluminium doesn't seem to offer any tangible benefits over a traditional bass, and personally I'd be worried about how it would age; is the aluminium going to start to oxidise and pit after years of (slight) exposure to sweat and moisture?
19.
http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1 Still keen to move it on so make me an offer - i can only say no
£4.63, a half eaten pack of chewing gum and a button?
20. Like the idea of the jazz, but the demo vid is a bit of a disappointment; doesn't sound as monstrous as I expected! Surely this design was crying out for an active pre?! I can think of much better basses to spend that money on......
21.
You can on the clean channel, but its always on when you engage the distortion.
Oh, I see.
22.
Yeah I wish there was either a separate eq for the distortion channel or if we could just turn the colour switch off. As it is, I have it as clean and then colour, don't use the distortion unless I'm using a different (or no) DI, then I just have the MXR set up a distortion pedal only.
You can turn the colour off can't you?
23. Just looking on street view at the venue; is parking just on the street out front?
