  1. Side dots look like mother of pearl, need better light for photos

There's no signature, It could be the first fretless 5 string. Although some one claims theirs is the first on the Wal database, this predates it.

This was the demo bass which I had the pleasure of trying out in the presence of Ian Waller. I later purchased it from Pete in 1990 after he made a new neck for it.

  2. I got a 1/2 size a couple of years ago to experiment with, it was a cheapish Antonio and was unplayable out of the box, but after some work to the fingerboard, nut & bridge I got it playable and sounding nice with D'addarios

The neck was too skinny for me, I was going to fatten it up with a 1/4" shim under the fingerboard but a good friend liked it as it was and bought it.

It was a doddle to carry one handed.

I still think a decent quality 1/2 size (39") would be be a good choice for anyone using public transport or a small car. If using amplification a good sound can be achieved.

If you've got £3k Clarky is selling his Kolstein Travel Bass https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=898007286912927&set=gm.1686583471561323&type=1&__mref=message_bubble

AS for the crazy 8,looks interesting but would really want to try first, most reviews seem to be from builders rather than users!

I had two Wizzy 10's but I was never happy with the sound unless at very low volume.
The Eden might be worth a punt if you could return it.
I like 8" speakers, having owned a SWR 2x8 which was superb, even with low B string, an Ampeg 2x8 SVT100T combo, and currently I've got a Genz Benz Shuttle 3 8T
I also like Phil Jones cabs and cant't decide which I prefer yet, 8" or 5" but I'm considering trying the Faital Pro 8" that is used in the Crazy 8

  4. Update on the Mouse

Done a few gigs seated with the Mouse in the 2 months since I got it, but last night was the first time I played it standing with a strap.

It was great, balanced really well, no neck dive.

    Sounded good through a GKMB150

Sax/guitar/bass trio played to about 60 women on a Ladies Night, had them dancing, no need for a drummer!

    I love this bass!

  5. I won a set and put them to one side, then while my Jazz bass was out of action I needed to use my 62 P for a gig. It had flats on which weren't suitable for the music being played so I put the Elixir on and was really impressed soundness & feel.

Going to try them on my Jazz now it's up and running again.

Thanks to Ped & all involved

  6. This could be the answer if you make some enquiries first.

It looks like the same construction as Stentor Student 1950 model I recommended earlier

I've owned over 20 double basses, don't overlook this because it's inexpensive!

    An old thread http://basschat.co.uk/topic/216686-stentor-1950-student-model/

  7. Having been to Gear4music and seen their starter basses I wouldn't recommend one to anyone.

Stentor do a nice student bass, I picked one s/h and with a bit of work to the bridge and some decent strings it plays and sounds great.
