Sounds to me like the luthier is short of work
-
I've used Obligato, Evah, Spiro's, Kolstein Heritage etc and settled on Zyex light
here's a video

I prefer the Greenboy stuff to the Barefaced stuff from what I have heard, IMO the Crazy 8 is all over the one10

I own both a Crazy8 (compo) and a OneTen. The Ten kicks a serious amount of butt and I have used it on several outdoor gigs to great effect during the year. Also a lot of loud indoor gigs. But I've found that it's quite a dark speaker and I find myself losing mid articulation. If I'm not seeking a lot of volume I prefer the 8 for its tonal range.

I agree the great tone of the Crazy 8 shines over the lacklustre sound of the One Ten. It's not all about how loud they can go -
I've just recently lowered Artisan's action without removing it the bridge.
It can be done by slackening just 2 outer strings at a time, then the 2 centre strings if necessary keeping tension at all times.
Just be careful with the chainsaw! -
i don't think Mike Arnopol is making them anymore Rev, worth looking out for s/h
Also works well with the GK MB200 + should go well with the Doubler -

If you want to go really light weight, then I'd go for a Barefaced One10 cab (15lbs) paired with an Acoustic Image Doubler (2.3lbs) to give you a 300W rig weighing in at 17.3lbs. It doesn't get much lighter than that as far as I'm aware.

I can beat that!
Acoustic Image Clarus SL + Crazy 8 composite 13.4lbs
or Clarus SL + Crazy 8 ply 16.6ibs -
Marc just bought a cab from me and was patient and understanding whilst I sorted out a cock up with the courier.
An all round nice guy to deal with. -
Hi Mike,
An Acoustic Image Clarus SL paired with with a Crazy 8 cab would be a good choice for quality sound in a small package.
You're more than welcome to try mine next time you're passing. -
If you can't find one contact La bella direct. Their customer service is excellent
-
I find them ok but I don't have any Thomasiks to compare with now, only some Status flats, which I think are higher tension than the 760N's, I'm just changing them over one at a time as we speak, but I'm running out of time for tonight's gig.
I'll report back tomorrow -
I'm loving La Bella 760N Black Nylon on my Rob Allen & Steinberger fretless basses so much that Iv'e just ordered a set for my fretless precision.
I've also tried them on a fretted N.S Synapse which I prefer over the La Bella steel flats.
I've tried Thomastiks & others but prefer La Bella overall -
1 cab sold.
Happy to keep the other one, but if anyone really wants one I can manage without it as I hardly do any gigs requiring loud backlne. -

Have you seen this?

Open Mic tonight, Thurs 6th At the Red Lion, Upper Poppleton YO26 6PR on the outskirts of York
If anyone wants to try my new Acoustic Image Clarus SL-R or a Flex Pre Amp I'll have them with me including a Tricky Audio Crazy 8 Cab
Free entry starts 7.30 -
You're welcome
It's a very nice bass Neil, great sound!
I'd forgotten how good those Obligatos feel & sound -
Grab a cab for £250 or trade for a Kala U Bass
-
Trade one for a Kala U Bass anyone?

They do look amazing, you're right, but at over 2.5 x times the price of the Fanes at £111 each x 4 ( £444 ) + £15 delivery = £459 ...ouch !
Only 2 chances of me buying those - fat chance and no chance
Two Faital Pro's would probably out perform 4 Fanes and save some weight -
Not much on this week
-
yes Ive found an old set, think the G has snappeed at the peg but we can probably tie a bit of string on and stick it with some chewing gum.
And maybe I could set about your bridge with the chainsaw again
