Just back from Risley after a great day with the upright gang, nice meet basschat friends old & new.
Big thanks to Roger and Owen for setting it up, looking forward tp the next one. -
If I can get em in the car I'll have a mixture of Spiro weigh, D'addario, Kolstein Heritage and Super Sensitive. Maybe I'll bring some assorted used.

Take off the string retainer (the securing nut is quite tight) and mount the jack across the tailpiece with cable ties or rubber bands as you would with an Underwood, or get a jack clamp from Roger (bassace).
I've done it both ways on a 200, the clamp is probably the best solution. -
I've got a Stentor student which sounds great, amplifies well, is an easy carry and was inexpensive.
Not tried a Zeller

i can't make the bash i'm afraid

I could take it for you, unless you want to travel with me -
Thanks for reply BB
I too removed the back cover.
I've made a short pin for playing seated, if I need to use the long pin for standing I'll just wedge a piece of card around the end. -
Any Mo Clifton EUB owners experienced rattling endpins?
It's a great bass but the endpin rattles which is annoying.
I spoke to Mo about it and he suggested the steel rod could be shortened, but rather than cut the original I bought a length of 10mm rod to experiment with.
As I play many gigs seated a shortened pin is no problem but if I use a longer one for standing it creaks & rattles inside the body.
I've tried packing with card, which requires removing the cover strip, wrapping tape around the end and applying shrink-wrap which makes it difficult to adjust the length due to friction.
Any ideas/ solutions? -
I've owned over 20 uprights & EUB's over the years, currently I've got 4 double basses and 2 EUB's
As an experiment in portability I aquired a 1/2 size Antoni last year. Although it sounded good for a small instrument the neck was way too skinny for me so I sold it on to a friend who loves it.
After researching other smaller options I came across this demo video by bass chatter hubrad.

I found a used one, it needed some setting up but it sounds great acoustic or amplified with a Bassmax and it fits in the side door of my car standing up!
Thanks Hugh
I'll bring it to the bash with a couple of others for comparison. -
That was quick!
-
Chris, did you ever try it on the Yamaha?
-
Sounds like a good day out
I could bring a Yamaha SLB100, Clifton EUB, maybe a couple of big basses depending on what I can fit in or what anyone wants to see.
Might have an old German hatpeg flatback for sale!
And some D.B friendly amps - Acoustic Image Ten2 / Phil Jones -
Bought a bass guitar from Ivan
It was delivered next day safe & sound by UPS in bomb proof packaging
Many thanks -

Bad timing, It's bank holiday week mate.

I have a 4 string version, same colour.
They are great versatile instruments, balance well on a strap and can be played seated.
This is a bargain price

I had the same advice from Alan Greensall at Synergy. He's a very nice helpful chap indeed.
I found a suitable mains lead with a brass earth pin at the plug end, connected a length of thin cable to the earth pin and attached the other end at the combo under one of the pre amp screws. Works a treat.
However this combo has to go back to the retailer because the mute switch crackles. -

How many upright basses can one get in a Berlingo?
Well I managed three acoustics, two eub's and two combos with room to spare.
I had to remove the back seats but it was well worth the effort to make the 200 mile round trip
