I can plug direct with various urb pickups without the need for a pre amp, and they sound amazing with fenders or active basses. Highly reccommended. And lightweight too! And Gareth is a top guy to deal with.

    Some interesting posts while I've been busy gigging and living. However it went back in the cupboard last week as I haven't the time to check in every couple of hours. (British Music Fair) at Olympia. On the front cover of the brochure was a picture of some guy with a double neck. After asking around I found out it was a Washburn. I went to the Washburn stand and asked if they had one I could try, and was told that only six were brought into U.K. and they had all gone, and the retail price was a little over £1100. I'm not making this up, why should I? I wouldn't have paid that much for any bass back then. A friend spotted this one in a shop in Blackpool and borrowed it for me to try. I got a good deal on it over the phone.

Bad design on an otherwise great bass.[/quote] I actually think the Washburn string clamps are better than the ones on my 1982 L2 Steinberger. Ive never had a problem with them whereas on the Steiny I fitted a new set of T.I.'s (about £45), trimmed them off and had to put them in the bin because the centre core slipped inside the winding. I've left plenty of afterlength with the set I have on now. That doesnt happen on the Washburn, the strings are double clamped by a screw and the retainer. [attachment=34046:DSC03380.JPG]

    Sorry to be vague on the price guys, I'd like to get a fair price for it, but can't find any reference to it's value. It's all wood, don't know what, rosewood boards. It's not had that much use in the 23 years I've owned it. I fixed an extra strap button to improve the balance. I've just had a look and noticed that unlike my Stienberger L2 it doesn't take double ball ended strings, just standard strings cut down.
