  1. ACG Mule #1 has arrived, a 5 string fretted. ACG Mule #2, a 4 string fretless should arrive tomorrow. I'll be bringing these along to the bash for you good folks to try out. Make sure and come say hi! Eude
  2. Very cool, I'll be following this one!
  3. That is bloody awesome, great work fella! I've always fancied building a Tallboy 12 at some point. If it ends up half as good as that I'll be delighted!
  4. That is truly stunning. What's the scale length on it? (Too lazy to go find the other thread 😉)
  5. That's not a modded 250, this is a modded 250 (in Mick Dundee, from Crocodile Dundee style accent) 😉

  7. I don't speak for Alan, but I think the only way to get the MC Series pickups is to buy an Über spec bass.
  8. I used to be an hour away, but since moving to London I've seen no improvement, I'm still plotting more ACGs!
  9. Just to chime in, nut widths on ACG 5ers tend to be 45mm, or thereabouts.
  10. Warwick to ACG by way of Shuker for me. I coveted Warwick basses for much of my youth, I finally got one and played it to death. When I commissioned my first custom bass, a Shuker 6 string, I could barely play the Warwick when I went back to it, the ergonomics were a really bad fit for me, and I had just got used to it. After that experience, it's been custom all the way for me, and I have very much settled with ACGs.
  11. That's a good shout actually, the Sputnik could be built similarly to your JCR. It sounds like JCR didn't understand your enquiry or just isn't interested. There was a gorgeous 32" Sputnik 5er on here recently, which is a lot more along the lines you're thinking. I'm sure they could come up with something that scratches your itch.
  12. I guess some bilingual intermediary you trust would be the way to go if you went that route then. I honestly think it's the safest route to what you want/need.
  13. Wasn't saying ACG is the way forward for you, but they are for me 100%. What about asking JCR if they would make one for you, along the lines of what you already have, but in a shorter scale? That's the more obvious solution, to me anyway. You have a bass by them that you really really like, it has everything you want, bar the reach being too much, they'd be best placed to come up with something that ticks all your boxes I'd expect...
  14. Why not look into having a custom 30" 6er made? You can go for similar specs to the JCR? I play 31.5" ACG basses, 5s and 6s, and for me that's the best compromise as I can also get a really useable low B with it. I used to play 33" basses, but switching to 31.5" has been a game changer for me.
  15. Small world then! I think your right, are those a little more fancy? Did you know he was originally a bass player? He had a wonderful fretless P Bass, it had been refinished, but was lovely. He helped me build a 6 string fretless bass.
  16. Who made your Viol? I used to know a guy who made them a while back, a Richard Jones. He'll be a good age by now, he was a really nice, talented bloke.
  17. Man alive, I bet that sounds incredible!
  18. That's very interesting. Does that mean that, with advice a Class D based amp could potentially be upgraded? Newer modules are way more efficient and potent as far as I can tell...
  19. That is absolutely stunning! Can't wait to see this come to life!
  20. Wow, that is looking mighty fine!
