That could work, I've quite enjoyed having the pedals roughly inline with their order in the chain but I think now I'm gonna have to get creative. I also have an EAE Dagger to fit on there imminently 😅

Originally I thought the 0xEAE was going to be one of those pedals that just might not justify quite being on a gigging board but it sounds great.

    you need a bigger board

According to Google:   The first electric bass guitar, the solid-body "Audiovox 736" created by Paul Tutmarc circa 1937, had a neck-through construction. "The Log", a prototype solid-body guitar built by Les Paul in 1941, can be considered as a forerunner of neck-through designed instrument.

aye, but neck through, or set neck is hardly innovative - it was bolt on necks that were the new thing - it's that combination of through neck, and humbucker and natural wood(s) finishes that influenced lots of other things, and where that came from - @Bassassin is right that the thunderbird hits a lot of the things, and then crossed with an alembic?

First 'revelation' for me was knocking the cab sim off many of the sounds improved it massively!

when I had a HX stomp I went from cab sims to IRs, and then to just a HPF/LPF block...
Chopping the top and bottom of the signal off meant it sat nicely in the mix, more like a bass should do and was easier for the PA to mix.

  4. Big difference is the interface

vinyl - I have to get up and flip the record after 4-5 songs

Digital - I can simply create playlists of whatever I want and have effortless control

digital multi effects- small changes mean menu diving, working out gain staging through a series of digital effects bottom press button press, oh balls I’ll get the laptop out and do it on that

analogue - turn knob till it sounds right

not saying digital effects won’t crack it, but the in my limited experience the UIs aren’t quite intuitive enough yet…

That said it depends on what you’re doing, what I was trying to with my hx stomp was limited enough that indeed individual analogue effects were simpler and nicer.

for electric guitar where the amp/cab is more critical to the sound of the instrument- I think I would have kept it

the last time I stuck a pic on here it was my first ever pedalboard…

    similar but changed

PB -> C4 -> Omnicomp -> irn Bru barbershop clone -> Aeon Lab series/mood L4 preamp -> bass boost chorus -> shallow water clone -> colourbox

got at least one more build on the go so it’s not a final layout, which the odd placement of the c4 switcher makes clear!

    New:

the L4 preamp- this thing is fun, two channels and then a limiter. If I had to describe it’s more like switching between a couple of amp models on a hx stomp than most drive/preamps I’ve tried, there is a complexity to the sound that is quite nice. Drive sounds just feel good too, will see how it does in a mix tomorrow.

    off the board:

    • Vong filter pedal - not sure I need it.
    • JohnK mini XO - crossover drive/distortion thing, similar to a greedtone overdrive - but with crossover to preserve lows below xo point… sounds great …for types of music I don’t play!!
    • Frog F2B - gremlins and noise I need to sort out. Should have built the particle accelerator instead. Need to fix and work out if it was the valve that was microphonic or my wiring!!

    thoughts

I Should have taken a punt on the anadime bass chorus that was up for sale a month or so ago to try against the bass boost chorus and sell the one I didn’t like - grass greener syndrome I think.

shallow water growing on me. It’s subtle but good.

@Richard R The meeting went incredibly well.  Instead of just sitting there and moaning, I went in with a positive approach, 6 pages of detailed ideas on how I think we can improve the Worship Team and, instead of using the word problems, I referred to them as weaknesses.

The main areas of weakness with our Worship Team that I addressed were; Poor Communication, Persistent Lateness and Lack of Commitment.

My Pastor was grateful for my honesty (albeit blunt at times) and welcomed my ideas, he's going to have a word with the main offenders and put some rules in place.

He reminded me of Hebrews 12:15 and it confirmed that a positive approach is always the right one; "See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many."

In short, I'm staying and the future looks bright.

That sounds like a great outcome

I upgraded to a B6 this week, after using a B1 Four X. To be fair, I never used the B1 to its full potential, but I was happy with what it could do. I upgraded to the B6 in large part because since I lost the sight in my right eye, I needed something that was easier to see, so the upgrade would have been worth it just for that.

However, this thing is amazing. 1 hour out of the box and I managed to set it all up for my needs without having to go anywhere near a computer. The effects are top notch, the modelled amps are pretty spot on, it’s got two inputs and a DI. I’ve read a lot about it being ‘only plastic’ (which is true), but there’s plastic and there’s plastic. It’s not made from yogurt pots so I’m not sure what you’d have to do to damage it. It’s sturdy, but I suppose if you abused it badly it’d break, but that’s true of anything.

I was initial hesitant, wondering if it would be that great an improvement on the B1. This just in: it definitely is.

Are the sounds a step up too? Or just the interface?

  8. There was an interesting thread on PedalPCB where they were discussing the circuit, 29pedals guy turned up and I think it got out of hand and the thread deleted …
