1. Due to various things (not least of which being a pallet of woofers vanishing) revised routes as follows: Route 1: musicman20 cleethorpes casapete hull finbar sheffield sean.robinson rotherham monz barnsley hubrad bradford rik (esa) bradford wateroftyne newcastle delberhot camelon lemmywinks blackpool umcoo lancaster josh3184 preston guyl manchester bassbunny manchester bass culture chester protium chester mike 257 wirral steve soar wirral I'd like to be added in Lancaster if possible? I'm through in Blackpool quite regularly for work and Preston's 30 mins away aswell. Hope that's ok. Cheers
2. How dirty can Fender Bassmans get? I've played vegashooker's 135 and it had a wonderful tone, but I can't recall if it was really driven hard. I'm throwing around the idea of a Bassman 70 or 100 and a Barefaced Compact so I can be loud enough for gigs, but get into power amp overdrive pretty easily. Thanks for all the suggestions already, by the way!
3. I've seen those Mywatts before, but never seen any way to buy one, or even know a price. Any one know? I guess I should just email them
4.
Keep gassin! One will come up....then that Pinkerton bass tone is yours
Haha, I feel you know me so well!
5. Sudgens just went for £800
6. Also, I thought Sound Citys were well know for clean sounds. I've got a Pork Loin and a Big Muff to dirty things up, but I want a slightly gritty sound just from an amp, and the pedals to add some more drive.
7. That SVT 2 isn't far from me at all. About half an hours drive. Isn't too bad a price either, although it'll take a couple of months for me to save up for it. I was thinking of more low wattage amps that I can crank to get a driven sound, kinda 100-200 watts.
8. I'm looking for a good old dirty sounding valve amp, something akin to Orange or Matmp, but without the huge price tag. What other valve amps are out there that get gradually nastier and ballsier the more gain you add? Go!
9.
I think a few people get confused over this one. In all the VT1 and VT2 pedals when not in by-pass the valve or valves are on all the time and hence there is soft clipping which is what valves do. On the VT1-MK3 model there is also a Si and Ge switch, this does not switch the vlave off but does add Si or Ge diode clipping to the existing valve tone. I hope that helps
Thanks for clearing that up Dave. I was pretty sure the DHA did have valve clipping. Anyhoot...to the OP, if you can stretch a bit more for a DHA you shall be rewarded with IMO, better tonezz
10. When I had a DHA VT-1 EQ Drive thingy, I also tried the Muff'n at a music shop, and it seemed to lack a lot of the power and overall tone that the DHA had. Hard to explain, but I knew straight away when I turned the Muff'n on, the DHA was a lot better. Just my two penneth.
11. It wasn't cheap when I got it, came from Canada and cost me about £150 in total with customs and everything. I've been watching them go on eBay lately, and they're reaching £80-120. Sign of the times maybe? I'm glad I've got it though...sounds like a bitch
12. I could make a joke about a nice, clean muff, but I won't.
13. Looking for an overdrive to finish this off...maybe a Pork Loin? Got the NYC custom size a week or two ago, great little essentials board...
14. Hi all, does anyone have any experience of the faux fender bass tweed cases? There's a few for £45-55 on ebay and they seem ok, but I'd rather know if they were a bit shoddy before shelling out for one. Thanks folks
15. Sold Myke some Schaller tuners. No problem at all...thanks very much!
16. That looks good fun! I only live 25 mins from Peter, I would have popped up....for the pie
17. ok, these need to go now. £30 posted? I'm away the weekend so I'll pick up PM's on Monday. Also got a perfect nick Geddy white pickguard. Tenner posted?
18. I used to have a 410E, which I think was a pre-cursor to the 410HE. It struggled a bit at gig volumes so I sold it on. It was being powered by a Peavey T-max. I do believe the 410E's were only rated at 250-300watts, whereas the 410HE can handle a bit more. Let us know how you find it, if you pick one up. I'd be interested to see how it handles a bit of volume.
19. Interesting...in the short video on the site it says '350 watts'...surely not all valve? They look sexy though, a 2x10 combo and a 15 cab underneath would make a great retro rig.
20. Any folks here use Avatar cabs? I see theres a dealer in the netherlands, but can't find any info about shipping over here. The 4x10 neo looks lovely with the different colours
21. Adding a 15' or any other 8ohm cab will usually result in more volume and a more powerful sound. It depends if you're happy with the current sound? Maybe look into effects pedals...be warned though, once you start, you don't stop
22. Might be a bit too far, but Promenade music in Morecambe had a 700 in last time I was there. They're very friendly so will have no problem with you a/bing things probably.
23. Very sexy. I live in Lancaster too. Unfortuantely I finished building a Jazz 2 days ago. Good luck with the sale brother.
