1. Jolly good...looks like this is on its way to the North East.
2. PM's replied - still available
3. to the top...
4. Bump
5. Beautiful. Quick question Thumbo. Where did you get your rack ears? They have them on the gk website, but when I tied to pay, they only shipped to a few countries. Not including the UK.
6. Hah, tell me about it. I've been looking for one for years. Seems this year is proving pretty good for them coming out of the woodwork.
7. £266.99 including delivery. Bazinga!
8. Back up for sale - £700 collected from Lancaster or delivered within an hour for petrol costs. Cheers all.
9. Neck arrived today. Birdseye maple with ebony board. Beautiful. I always impressed with Warmoth's work.
10. Thanks all. The signal issues seem to have disappeared...maybe just needed the jack slotting in and out a few times (that's what she said) The hi-boost switch is giving me great tones...snarly and with attitude, but still clear and defined...not at all sterile or hi-fi (which is what I'm looking for in an amp) Does the 300w volume knob act as a gain then? Sounds great when that's cranked and the master to suit. Slight bit of hiss with it like that though.
11. It's definitely punchy. Sounds great and warm for solid state, but then maybe I've forgotten how good solid states can sound with me being used to valve amps. Using it with a Matamp 2x12. Might be a while before I get to crank it at next practice, but that should be jolly good fun
12. Found one of these rare beasts on Gumtree and shot the guy an email expecting it to have been snapped up straight away. It hadn't, so I nabbed it. Arrived today and first impressions weren't great as there was no sound coming out. Twiddled knobs and the input jack then it burst into life. Thick rich bassy goodness! It's been cutting in and out so I think a bit of contact cleaner may be in order. Bit scratched on the top but nothing unexpected from a20 year old amp and might look into a rack for it if I decide it;s a keeper. Definitely a cleaner sounding amp than my AD200B but still warm and growly. Ideal! Anyways...here's a few pics for the porn addicts...
13. UPS called when he was 10 mins from my house and said they need to get cash on delivery for the VAT and customs. Of course, I'm stuck at work. Pleaded with him to leave it with a neighbour and they can send me to payment details through the post (like has previously happened), but said he couldn't! Another day of waiting for the neck.... Oh well...I've waited 9 weeks, what's one more day!
14. I contacted Jacks Instrument Repair, Manchester Guitar Tech and Ged Green. Nothing from Ged, a quick reply from MGT and pretty much everything I wanted from Jack. So him, most likely. Disclaimer: - Nothing bad about the other two. Jack just seemed on board with the build and I'd like to give him a try. Had other positive experiences with Ged and MGT.
15.
Where did this get to in the end, Umcoo?
Good timing my friend. Had my shipping notification email from Warmoth this morning, so the neck should be with me tomorrow, all being well. Of course, pics when she arrives! After that I'm looking to get it sent to a luthier in Manchester to bolt her together and set her up just right.
16. I use one of these and have used a Jazz on them. As mentioned, a Jazz will have to sit a bit to the side to fit on, but I've never thought of these as not secure or looking silly on stage. A stand is a stand...not meant to look beautiful. The fold down nice a slim too.
17. Hi all, I may be in need of a 3u rack case soon and saw these on ebay. Seems reasonably priced and looks a good product, but has anyone used them? Thanks folks
18.
It always makes me laugh, especially on some of the more fruity US forums when people talk with reverence about the "Matamp Factory" like it's a scared, holy place, bathed in clean white light where tonez are made. I wonder if they could see that it's a run-down shed, up a little lane, behind a Tesco, that's completely disorganised with fag ends everywhere, that reeks of smoke with projects that started between yesterday and 40 years ago littered around if they would have the same reverence? I'm not knocking Matamp's product at all but they are very much a case of the British Inventor's Shed, not Googleplex.
Hah, too true Joe. When I first went, the 'Green' sign outside was all smashed and I just walked in to a room full of fag ends and amazing gear. There wasn't even anyone in there, I just walked around for 5 mins looking at everything. Then Geoff came out and said 'c**t' a lot whilst slagging off every other amp maker. I loved it!
19. Having second thoughts on this. Every time I crank it, I realise why I like it so much, so I'm going to withdraw it for now. Cheers all.
20. bump - could go to 700 if that sweetens the deal for anyone?
21. Cheers Chris And Bump!
22. Hey Nath, how are tricks? As I say, gigs have dried up and running this thing at '1' on the master makes it a pretty expensive practice amp. I'm keeping the Matamp cab and I'll probably just pick up something more suited for what I need. Saying that, not had much interest at all, so she might be staying at Chez Chris. How's the Sunn treating you?
23. Bloody hell, that's dear. I shipped a green muff to Finland via Royal Mail for about £12-13 - I think they have a service called AirSure or something. I've never had a problem with it. Got there in a couple of days.
24. Cheers Guybrush, If this is still here after the weekend, I might just keep it...so....Bump!
25. Bigger testicles, but yeah, you're pretty much there.
