1.
So by that token, running 'Soundcloud' would be a hobby, then..?
Only if someone is writing the loss off against earnings elsewhere 😉
2.
I suspect landlords like paying out cash because, in some instances, they have a budget from their brewery and can account for that allowance while having no record of how much was actually paid out.
Or cash not declared as takings disappears never to be seen again. Doesn't get taxed, no banking fees to pay. It's bit of a double whammy of you are self employed and working through a business bank account. You get charged for paying cash in. Charged for taking cash out. Charged for cheque. Charged for withdrawals. Charged even for bacs payments. Then you have to pay tax on it. Much cheaper if it just passes from the till to the band.
3.
For what it's worth people have submitted proper tax returns from doing weekend warrior pub gigs, and with all the deductable stuff the taxman ended up owing them. Taxman eventually said don't bother.
This^^^ If it makes money its a taxable endeavour. If it makes a loss its a hobby.
4. Thanks jacko. Whistle binkies sounds interesting. Will pop in at the weekend for a chat with them. Thanks
5. Morning! Does anyone know of any open mic sessions in Edinburgh with enough space for a four piece band? (2x guitar, bass, drums, originals, mainly rock) The vast majority seem aimed at one man and his guitar affairs. (Feel free to move this to another forum if it's in the wrong place) G.
6. I think they send you the money via PayPal. Their 'courier' or 'friend' turn up to collect. They always want to arrange their own courier. The good are collected then they file a not received claim via PayPal and you have no proof of posting or a signature on delivery. PayPal pay out every time!!! You lose. No money. No goods.
7. Fuzzmo is definitely one to try. Does everything from sizzle to seriously gritty and has a blend control. Bargain! Thinking about getting a second... 🤔
8. Here's my pair of Ibanez. An '81 Blazer, still going strong. Had a rewire and a new scratchplate, otherwise very original condition. Currently strung with Labella deep talkin' flats. And my ATK 800 bought from this forum. Not sure about age but can't be very old. Sporting a set of DR Lo Riders. Thinking about changing the scratch plate.
9.
Buy the DreamScape, job's a good'un - and boy is it a great sounding pedal!
Now you say! Just bought a Corona AND a vortex! 😁
10.
Just a quick question! If you have the TC Corona, could you use a toneprint from the Vortex pedal so you can have chorus/flanger on one pedal? 😁
Nope... Doesn't work. Just got a Corona tried it with a vortex toneprint. Doesn't load. Didn't expect it to but no harm in trying! 😀 However, the recently released SCF flanger toneprint for the Corona is a very nice subtle flanger... Can probably get it a bit more extreme with a few twiddles on the knobs.
11.
Aren't you forgetting sumthing?...todays original recording will still be crappy compressed digital, or are studios now going over to four inch tape and Fostex to keep the whole thing "authentic", I doubt it somehow. I listen to some of my stuff from the 70's and late 60's and just know it's highly doubtful its ever going to be replicated...
Fair point!
12.
What next? The fax machine has a resurgence?! This argument that vinyl is better quality, yadda yadda is rubbish. Blind test no one would have a clue which is which format.
A good quality vinyl LP played on a good quality turntable through a decent amp and speakers will sound superior to a compressed digital format. You can tell the difference but the playback device makes a massive difference. Is it enough to justify the price and convenience issues? Depends on the beholder and the situation. I don't see the point in 4k screens when we have HD but I have a mate who goes loopy about them. Each to their own.
13. Now down to £43! Snap them up guys! This is a true bargain! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/172421144811
14. There was a thread not so long ago discussing how he gets his sound. Splits his signal and sends to both guitar and bass amps separately if I remember correctly.
15. Hi, I would like to build my own foot switch for my reidmar amp as I don't have space on my board for the official footswitch. Can anyone tell me if it uses on/off or momentary foot switches? Cheers, G.
16. Selling a few pedals to fund some additions. [sharedmedia=core:attachments:247113] EBS TremoLo - Stereo Tremolo pedal with three modes - square, saw it smooth wave - plus full effect or filter mode, that only applies the effect to the higher registers. Velcro on back. True bypass - £80 posted uk Designacable Midi cables X2 - both 5m. Yellow one, van damme cable, is fully wired for phantom power, the black one, beldon cable, is not. Yellow used twice, black unused in packaging. Yellow £12, black, £10. £20 for both posted. [s]Dean Markley tuner PT-13 - is a tuner. Built like a tank. Cast casing. Can't say much more. Can be a bit slow to register bass, works great on guitar. £10 posted[/s] [s]EBS Dynaverb - stereo reverb pedal. Very clean sounding. Three different switched modes plus three further switched variations on each plus depth and tone knobs. Loads of options. Sounds lush! True bypass. Boxed. Works great on guitar too - £80 posted uk[/s] [s]EBS BassIQ - versatile envelope filter. Up, down and autowah modes. Bought as an experiment. Velcro on back. Turns out I'm not funky - £80 posted uk[/s] Will consider trades. Maybe an octave a polytune 2 Mini but try me for anything else.
17. How are you powering it? Maybe try it with a fresh 9v battery. See if that helps. If that works then I would start looking into whatever you were powering it with.
