1. Likewise, I'm looking for someone in the Edinburgh area. Contacted a few now and they either don't reply or have no suitable time slots.
2.
Oh, where to start? Any 2-pickup bass with Les Paul wiring. What the hell do you need a selector switch for when you can blend & mute with the volumes? Or: any bass with two volumes rather than a volume & a pan. Or even worse - a 2 pickup bass with a poxy selector switch and only one volume & tone! That's right, Ibanez RS924 - I'm looking at you. Ever wonder why you don't get gigged any more? Aside from weighing about 30 kilos? Which leads neatly to: Any bass that you need a back brace/intensive care after wearing for more than 15 minutes. Bye bye, Peavey T-40, and take your pointless selector switch & stupid fiddly controls with you. Any bass with a bridge that does not offer proper height & intonation adjustment. Double points if that bass costs more than a decent used car and the bridge bends in half within a year. Mr Hall. Any bass with Precision type pickups fitted with the E/A half towards the neck. Sorry Leo, that's the wrong way around if you want a more balanced string response. Any bass with twin coil pickups that do not have phase or single coil switching. Clear off & come back when you have a bit of tonal variety. Any bass with a symmetrical double cut body. You will be staying on the wall, looking pretty rather than having your neck supported by my left arm, because you presumably think it has nothing better to be doing. I'll probably think of a few more, in a bit... Jon.
Feeling better now? 😏
3. Looks awesome. Looks like it is moving really fast even when it is sitting still! If I were after a five I'd be interested... Have a bump
4.
Shame only Thomann seem to have the foresight to stock Sire in Europe.
Probably an exclusivity deal
5. at least you are making some progress. Posting a demo would be great - I'm always a little sceptical when videos available in the usual sources are all produced by endorsees. Not that i think a bass in this price range is going to feel bad in my clumsy hands. I'm expecting it'll feel great just because I've never played anything in this kind of price range. I'm pretty much straight forward blues/classic rock... and badly at that. I should maybe take up punk. I'm near edinburgh.
6. Cheers 72deluxe, I really fancy one of these basses. Looks immense and the various YouTube videos make em sound nice - tho they are nearly all produced by Warwick or other endorsees so a pinch of salt might be necessary Struggling to decide between this or some kind of P/J set up on either a Jazz or a P. I can go the local guitar shop and try some fenders etc. I have no way of trying this bass.
7. Probably using the exact same factories who actually build many of the low end guitars we are used to seeing such s Harley Benton
8.
Thanks verb, I got in touch with Warwick who pointed me in the direction of buying new internals (not really what I wanted)
Theres a used warwick/mec preamp on ebay just now. might be worth a look.
9. I am thinking of buying a Jack Bruce Artist so this thread is very interesting to me right now. Sounds like you are having a bit of a nightmare. Hope you get it sorted soon enough. Any idea why the original preamp was replaced? How quiet is the bass? Both passive and active? My amp isn't the loudest so a quiet bass might not be the best for me. ... But it looks sweet as fook so I might just take a punt
10. Thanks guys. It's a discontinued model (I think) so I'm guessing its new old stock I'm looking at and most probably Korean built.
11. There's a thread on well known usa bass forum with someone stating theirs has ' made in china' stamped on the headstock. I contacted the seller I was looking at who stated theirs are German made!? Have they moved production back to Germany?
12. Hi, I am considering buying a Warwick Jack Bruce Artist bass. I have read some reviews of early Korean built versions that get major plaudits for the build quality and was ready to order based on that but I have since read that they are now made in China. Any idea how the build quality compares between the Korean and Chinese made Warwick's?
13. Hi, I am just looking for a little guidance here... opinion as opposed to a definative answer. I am pondering buying a new bass and i was just wondering, given that some people are of the belief that the tonewood makes very little, if any difference to the tone of a bass, then body shape should have an equal effect. Does a P-bass with a split coil sound the same as a Jazz with a P/J config and likewise a Jaguar with P/J config? (Assuming you are using only the split coil on the jag and jazz) I did try searching for this but you can imagine the search results are overwhelming.
14. Edinburgh Rikkis was the only store listed but that has changed to meteor music. They only do online sales and no longer listing revelation on their site.
15. thanks, not sure about ordering one off the web without playing it first. The only shop stated on their website as a dealer near me is no longer open.
16. Sorry to resurect such an old thread but didn't seem worthwhile starting another one... Did anyone play one the LP recording short scale basses? I'm GASsing like crazy for one! Looks awsome! I've never played a shortscale but this has really pricked my ears up. Love the vintage look and unique the pick up configuration is very intriguing. I am thinking of selling my Ibanez ATK200 and this looks like a contender as a replacement. ***edit : just realised this thread has more than one page ***
17.
My (soon to be with me) Hutchins Prince II bass complete with tweed hard case. Looking foward to receiving this one because I've never had a hollow body bass before. It's an ex demo model but with no marks or dinks, I may convert it to a fretless. It has a mahogany body, mahogany neck, grover tuners and arctec pickups. I had a look online and most stockists sell it with the case at 449 quid, one place had it at 390, I got it with case for 193 quid. I'll do a review when I get it.
any sign of your bass yet? I too am considering one and would appreciate some feedback. Also, is it a Prince or a Prince II? i can only find details online about the Prince II online. Cheers
