I have giant EHX pedal footprints eating all of my board, and babysitting them with loopers just makes things worse.
You could get red onion to make you the exact looper you need, buy a bit of plywood, and build your own nice and compact pete cornish style board, with your pedals hidden and just your footswitches on a box.
2.
Perhaps you just have bigger hands
Maybe - I play a 6 string. I don't think my hands are any bigger than average though. I think I do I use my right hand fingers to mute strings when i'm playing fingerstyle, but I like to strum all the strings with some of them muted for a percussive effect, and obviously you can't do that with your right hand.
3.
Ok, well shipping might not be that bad, let me know.
Still waiting for a reply on this. Is it because you're not sure if you want to split them?
4. This all seems a bit weird to me, I always mute everything with my left hand, thumb over the top for the lower strings. Is this weird and/or innefective?
5.
seriously though, if you've never heard jaco, listen to him. his music's not the kind of thing i'd listen to, but he's still a great bassist.
Don't you think that sounds a bit silly? You should seriously listen to this crap that I don't really like! I have 2 Jaco albums, and they're both a bit crap, with one or two excellent peices on each. I think they're compilations. I remember as a youngster I loved my Mum's "weather Report" Lp.
6.
all important bass switch changes everythin
Everything or just the low end responce? I met a guitarist who had an original. He said that it was a special edition and that ZZ Top had the other 3 of 4. I don't know whether to beleive it though. Ta for the review Kev.
7. No idea seeing as I've only ever used the original pods, which are excellent, but no fun.
8.
we managed to go from a bassbash meeting in nottingham, to knitting. impressive, i think.
I thought this was pretty standard! EDIT: WOW
9. Ahhh, I went to see the bluetones once. They were really good, and I think I bought a CD which would have had similar art on (or the same thing?). I doubt i'd be able to find it though. Knitting is apparently theraputic. I personally imagine it's as stressful as an old computer game that can't be saved at any point e.g Sonic where you get so close to the end and then die one too many times - 'cos I think with knitting you have to keep going without "dropping a stitch".
10. google pointy sticks and you just get knitting fan-sites! How boring. about your avatar - would I have seen that before somewhere? I think I recognise it but not sure.
11. Ok, well shipping might not be that bad, let me know.
12.
sure, it would be good to try out other peoples pointy sticks, y'know. i've been dying to try out one of those custom-made ones with LEDs... x
To be honest I was joking, I didn't notice your avatar - you're obviously into your pointy sticks. Maybe you could bring yours anyway? Do you have a link to a pointy stick online boutique?
13. I can't wait to try the B9.2U, it's potentially all you ever need!

Which 6?

I tried one of those Tobias' in sound control and didn't really like it. I got my schecter studio 6 (or whatever model they are) for £300. I really like it, but i've only played about 5 6 string in my life and I own 2 of them.
15. yeh, good point. I leave a spare monitor mouse and keyboard at practice, and just carry the main box back and forth. Not everyone can do that!
16. I don't know where you are - if you're around stoke/staffs I can pick up? EDIT: Can you confirm that the mic stand is metal and doesn't have those plastic tighteners that always break?
17. £200 for all your pre-amps, interface, storage medium, and a hands-on controller is a good deal. It's not such a good deal if you already have a PC you're thinking of upgrading as you could put in an interface for £50 and get a rack of pre-amps for less than £100 and you have more flexibility with plug-ins etc.
18. You can never have enough dirt pedals!
19. Well, i've been tracking my band with bass guitar, drums, and vox through the PA. I've managed to move around some bass notes from the DI, and the bleed is no noticable. I've managed to move a couple of kick drums on the individual mic, and the spillage just sounds like a flam or something insignificant, and only if you're really hearing. Anyway, if you're recording band practices then tightening everything up with a fine toothcomb isn't really the point is it? I suppose it's about your approach to the recordings.
20.
cheddatom definatley bring your board i would really like to hear that thing in action i wil bring mine as well should have quite a few nice things on there by then.
We have the same bass, but your picture looks the wrong way round! If I manage to make it down, i'll deffinitely bring my pedal board. I'll have to wire it up with the new PSU 'cos it's seriously noisy.
how likely to administer a beating? beating is so 2007. i'm more into jabbing with some kind of sharp stick.
I have a wide selection of sharp sticks, if you want me to bring any down let me know.
21. I bought some cheap crap drum mics from Ebay, but it looks like you can afford better. I would buy a set of drum mics 'cos they work out at good value. Think about how many channels you want to record. You'll need 1 mic and/or DI for guitar, a DI for bass, (stereo?) DI for keyboards, DI from the PA for vox - you're already on at least 5 channels. To get a half decent drum sound, a stereo pair of mics on the kit is essential. Kick and snare mics are almost essential, and slightly less essential - individual tom mics. Ideally, if he's using 2 toms, you'll have 6 mics on the kit which you will need to record simultaneously with the rest of the band. I don't think 8 inputs are enough! As far as specific gear recommendations - I don't have enough experience really. I literally just went for the cheapest crap.
22.
+1 with Bilbo's first post. I also get a little bitter about seeing clearly very talented musicians and technicians sounding a bit silly on a low-register electric fretted instrument when they could be virtuoso pianists etc. +more mean stuff I wont say. Tom's use seems sensible. Any specific songs where this use is noticeable?
As in me? on the myspace there are two songs in particular "ghosts" and "fake smiles in the photograph" I think you could download them from no-logo.co.uk. In ghosts, it has a chilled out chorus with some 4 string chords, they could probably be done on a 4 string in some position quite high up. In Fake Smiles, in the chorus, I play 5 string barred chords, and then theres a "break down" which includes notes which are higher than you can get on a 4 or standard 5. Also, in Fake smiles I use the bottom string quite a bit so that song deffinitely requires a 6 string - but it doesn't sound like it's a 6 string (or a good bassist) it's just quite standard rock music.
23. Nice. If you're using the LS-2 as a blend, try the compressor in your effects blending loop with the dry signal uncompressed. You might prefer it! EDIT: Nice doesn't describe the effect your board has had on me! Oh yeh.
24. £50 for the mic stand and lead? How about shipping? I'm looking for a bargain
