1. Still funny
2.
I've changed direction many times, as my ears saw fit, as long as your growing and developing, or just feeling good about what you play it's all good in my book, I'm into music, not genres.
I like this Good way of looking at music. Thanks
3. I don't get on with a 5 either I keep mine in vein hope that one day, it will click and I will be able to play it. I did only buy it for the fretted 'E' whilst playing Nights in White Satin........ I bought a bass to play one song! Madness
4. There are a lot of threads on here already asking this If you are strong, then lugging a huge combo about is fine. I'm an old git so I would prefer light weight amp (Ampeg PF-500 only £350 and 3kgs) with a Ampeg 2 x 10 (£390 and 16kgs). I have just sold my Marshall rig (see sig) because it's too heavy. Moves loads of air and as loud as heck but at 30kgs per unit.......
5. Listenable but not my thing
6. Cheers, but sadly I got the rejection call today I have put a guitar on Ebay for £180. If that sells, then it's one in / one out and I will get this! I still have a couple more interviews lined up but I know this won't be here forever so I am trying to raise the funds
7.
2 spots of superglue. Then put it in your attic where your nephew - who knows nothing about guitars - will find it. Seems to happen all the time on ebay. lol
this made me chuckle!
8.
That bass player, he's so cool he can even afford to take his shades off midway through the song ... when I grow up, I want to be like him.
I just don't want to grow up
9. No amplifier ban in Aylesbury Not many buskers either. There are only two spots I am aware of for busking and neither are over subscribed I thought about it, but I don't think I can get a big enough battery for the Marshall stack
10. For novice I bought this book: 100 Fretless Bass Workouts It has notation and tab. The CD helps with intonation. After that, it's down to preference. I just started gigging with it and you get better quite quickly because it matters!
11.
I think when I first got it I made the mistake of trying to play really intricate fretless parts and failing, but now I have realised probably the best thing to do is to play it like a normal bass first just to get used to the (weird) thing!
Exactly If you stick with root / fifth / octave with the odd run as you would a fretted, they sound really good! I practice with a tuner to get my ear trained. (sorry this has hijacked your string thread with a fretless discussion!)
12.
Hi, I've just come across this ... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Simple-Minds-Vin...=item2c5e2f9468 What do you think?
What is it worth? Silly question I suppose (it's what people bid on it!)
13. It's ok when you are just noodling in a key. It gets harder when you are playing with other muso's (especially if they are NOT tone deaf!). Tonight, I was playing along with some guitar parts I had laid down around a year ago. It sounded ok to me (but I am biased!)
14.
fret buzz on a fretless?!
This made me chuckle I'm not the best player in the world, but even I would struggle to do that! I went fretless to get rid of the buzz....... Still, when the neck was out, you couldn't play it past the 7th [s]fret[/s] er position
15. It's only since I switched to bass from guitar that I have even thought about other styles (playing them that is). Perhaps I am finally growing up At 45, I suppose it happen sooner or later!
16. No problem I should be asleep but I just had a really great session on my fretless and I'm still buzzing
17. There has been a thread about this before: Here
18.
I'm in general agreement that technique allows you to move forward as a musician and express what you feel on an instrument with increased ease, but it's not the be all and end all.
^^^ This
19. I've been suffering delays tonight

Hi

Welcome aboard. Sounds like a nice rig. Room for a bit more though
21.
i like both types of music ... country AND western
I had heard they were splitting up
22. I will still play the blues but I think this change of direction for what makes me smile is just a bolt out of the ether! I've been so bogged down with the music that has shaped my life, I find this new lease of life amazing I like listening to all sorts, but playing has always been blues / rock based.
23. Welcome aboard Lots of friendly folks here!
24.
SP210 Cab is still here, as are the Ashdown cabs.
Do you know if an Ampeg PF500 would sound good through the Isobaric cab? Cheers Blademan
25. I have played blues / rock for years. My musical tastes have always centered around the blues genre. The other day, after reading a few threads on here, I thought that I should try different styles to broaden my playing abilities. I went out and bought some Earth, Wind and Fire CD's / DVD's. Funky groove I have spent the last two days playing along to the tracks as best I can. I'm hooked!!!!! Has anyone else had an change of direction with their musical tastes / playing styles?
