New Zoom B3
Yes of course, but you have basically 3 levels of distance to the right and 3 to the left, with the M5 or Pitchblack you have nearly infinite levels because on the M5 you have as many as the resolution of the screen, and on the PB you have the number of lights plus their dimming from one to the next. A lot more stages to see where you are.
Ah, I misunderstood what you meant, yes I think the B3 lights are either on or off, not used the Pitchblack/M5 but the lights are dimmed as you get closer? I guess that could give a better resolution - depending on a number of things, including the range assigned to each light. FWIW, I did ffind the B3 tuner to be excellent, very fast and stayed on the note rock solid. I can't comment on its accuracy, but it certainly did sound in tune!
I was actually just going to post about tonesucking or not, because some guy on talkbass said he got it. Personally, I couldn't notice any difference. I plugged bass > B3 > amp, then bass > amp a few times, never noticed any colour or tonesucking. I have new strings, and the zing and twang were all there. As for the tuner, I have the Pitchblack too. You know how with the PB you get one red LED lighting just slightly if you are very slightly out of tune? That allows you to tune to perfection. With the B3 the screens are pretty useless besides telling you the note you're on, it's all about the lights on the top, and they always light fully, so if you are 1% high, the red light to the right will light full on, perhaps blink if it's very slight, but it's hard to have a fully gradual feel from it as I guess each light represents a certain percentage range... I won't say it's not accurate because when I moved the tuning peg up or down just a tiny touch from tuned, it noticed and signaled out of tune, but the whole concept is a bit weird... Makes me feel a bit uneasy and hard to trust as much as with a PB. The screens could have been used much better for this. On the M5, you have a horizontal bar and a slider moves freely left to right on it, it's not 'stepped', so though not as good as the PB and hard to see the note from the height of my 1.88m, it's still pretty good.
Weird, on mine the number of lights tells you how far away from the note you are. I use chromatic mode.
  3. Used to do Soundgarden - Black Hole Sun. Hate hate hate. Still do Snow Patrol - You're All I Have. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
No, just give us a call or send us an e-mail with your order number and the address you want it sent to.
Awesome.... email sent. I am very much looking forward to breaking this out ... I used to have the B9.1ut and loved the compressor and EQs in particular but it was far too complicated for a peon like me!

Looking forward to it - both the pedal and the initial thoughts Richard, is it too late to change the delivery address: I stupidly gave my work address and of course tomorrow is Saturday

OMG just put an order in. Fingers crossed there will be enough for me!
  11. I have one. I think no dots on the fretboard is a plus! There are dots on the side of the neck so you can tell what you're playing. I have changed the pickups to bartolinis, and I also changed the bridge to a Babicz but the bridge swap hasn't really changed anything really. Other than that, great bass, super light and comfortable neck.
  12. The compressor behaves like this because the E string is much louder than the other strings - fix this by decreasing the bass or increasing the mids/treble on the bass. Could also tilt the pickup to move it closer to the higher (pitch) strings and/or moev it away from the E string. This will result in more even compression over the strings - then fix the EQ using the amp controls. That's what I'd do anyway!
  13.
Thats an intresting idea. I've not considered that before.
TC actually give this as an example of how to use their amps (see p16 of the US manual, for example). It's like "hey, buy more of our amps!" Not considered using this method for any other amps though, but these things aren't cheap so buying just one head instead of two would be preferred! Still, a Markbass F500+F1...
  14. We play detuned 2 steps across the board (D G C F) and I use D'Addario "aldude custom set" 120-95-75-55, so they're pretty fat for a 4-stringer. I have also found the truss rod needed loosening up, and the intonation is set so the bridge parts are very very close to the bridge itself, i.e. the strings are almost as long as they can go, to get the intonation right. Apart from that, there aren't any other problems, though I had another bass (Spector I think) which would have needed the nut filing to accommodate such fat strings, though I didn't do it in the end. So, the nut problem varies from bass to bass. Incidentally the current bass is an Ibanez and the nut is fine.
  15. I have a TC Electronic RH450, which happily works with a 4 ohm cab and an 8 ohm cab ... total impedance 2.67 ohms. They are Barefaced cabs I often like to try new things, and would maybe like to try another head, but would like to keep my 2 cabs. Are there any lightweight/micro heads out there that are confirmed rated to 2.67 ohms or below? (TC have released specs that show they can handle all the way down to 2 ohms but I don't think that info is widely available - it's on BC somewhere though!)
  16. Have another bump - I have the G50, it's definitely the best thing I have ever bought instrument-wise!

  18. I used to have a Roadster, from 1980, fretless, active 2-band EQ. Not sure about the model number. It was in pretty good nick. Sold it for £250 on the evil bay a couple of years back. Nice bass, though it weighed a ton!
  19. Ah... but does it do drop-D? Still waiting for the software for the daddy Polytune pedal...
