Very interested! Looking for a rig for double bass and electric. What's the deal with the voltage converters? Is there a problem with using the amp just plugged in without any of the converters? Also any idea about courier costs to London? Thanks
Thanks Rhod. Voltage Converter had been OK but added the converter when I read about some issues and have used since. I think the new models might have a 110/220 switch (?) which seems a better idea (as long as you remember to use it !). Courier is included in the price. Price also includes the small/simple Converter which was recommended by EA and used without issue since (... but questioned somewhere above). I also have a bigger/more powerful unit if preffered.

SEI 5-string jazz bass NO RESERVE
Hello- it sounds like a lot of good people getting wires crossed to me. just a thought. Have you thought of selling it on here? Might be easier
Agree Luke - with both points (!). Thanks for taking time to explain James - sounds fine to me, and a shame that neither the previous owner or I were unable to finalise due to some misunderstandings and ebay's message system not working properly. The concern I had with a possible 'bogus' bidder (obviously not the case here) is that some sellers on ebay utilise a second account or friends to bump-up the auction and then immediately offer a 2nd-chance. -
SEI 5-string jazz bass NO RESERVE
eubassix replied to eubassix's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Thanks for the imput James. All I can do is outline what happened and what I've been told:- My 2nd Chance Offer:- Expiration Time: Apr-17-12 04:01:04 PDT Message from seller: Hi Eubassix, The other buyer decided to pull out without coming to collect, so the bass is still for sale if you're still interested of course. Its collection only and I prefer paypal though cash on collection is also an option. Many thanks, My REPLY (got nothing back):- Message flagged Saturday, 14 April 2012, 12:38HI - thanks/interested. Couple of slight concerns before giving it full consideration. (1) I would have to arrange a Courier collection (9-5, from home or work address) as I'm too far from you to collect personally; and (2) the possibly 'bogus' bidder (who bid twice above my bid !) .....[etc] From the BC'er* who prefers to remain anon. Member for c. 2 years, active and with excellent Feedback:- I won the bass .... the seller accused me of being a scammer then cancelled the auction .... when I have 100% feedback on ebay .... then offered it to the second highest bidder (you?).... then called me back saying he wanted to sell it to me. I thought I wanted it (I actually owned it before).... but it's quite a turn off being called a scammer... so didn't buy it. He chose to refund me.... when the bass was FULLY paid via paypal.... *I'll notify BC'er of this and will remove if if he prefers me to do so -

Fodera Monarch Deluxe - London / Orkney (?) craigslist
Just a hunch, but when you travel on the bus, does the nutter always sit down next to you? Not sure what you've done to deserve it.
Not generally, but there have been a few. I thought it would be a couple of quick checks which is OK, but wasn't anticipating 28 messages in 12 days and some of the things I was being asked about or to do. Quiet since Thursday (!). -
That was a very a silly thing to do,as it is the only thing that that makes it obviously a Nash Bass.
Sorry Rich, my reply was a bit unclear: they (said they had) removed all References to Bill Nash on the ebay listing; not from the bass itself ! According to the current listing (itself a relist) there is 'J-63' in black pen inside the neck pocket and the neck is clearly a Warmoth. It seems odd to have a BN bass without the rear-headstock signature and, if it is an early one (the only time/period BN used Warmoth) then it's surprising that it looks so new. Bill himself queries the lack of aging on the neck, along with some other factors. And no idea if the hang-tags are still there ... again surprising, if it's an old/early bass that these would still be with it. I guess BN is getting something of a reputation and, whilst it might be hard(er) - in principal (any lawyers reading this?) - to forge his signature, it - again might - be relatively easy to write J-63 into a neck pocket and to produce some of the quite simple 'Nash' hang-tags . I don't think the hang-tags were ever shown on the auction, though.
Hi Dave, I thought Bill Nash signs the back of the Heasdstock.well he he did on the one I owned . and the neck is too shiney,Rich
Hi Rich - yes, that's the first thing I queried on the intial listing and they replied saying all references to BN had been removed. seems like they then relisted with the original description. I sent all the details in my OP to 'Mo' (1moreguitar/ebay) .. but he's not replied.

Fodera Monarch Deluxe - London / Orkney (?) craigslist
.... he's not getting it's a fraud is he?
....it appears not; I just hope he doesn't act upon the IBAN/BIC details he's been given; he seems to think that as these have been verified as genuine (via some website check) then it means it's a bona fide deal..... -
The 'Orkney' thing is a well-known technique designed to discourage viewing before purchase. It's a scam.

+1 - its a scam

If that bass is actually in Orkney and actually in the possession of the multi-monikered, multi-accounted, land line shy, website plagiarising Craiglister then I'll eat one of my basses with no aid from condiments.

well if anyone wants to pay for the flight/train-boat from Edinburgh I wouldn't mind a holiday in orkney, and ill bring the bass back to the mainland
Thanks / as expected: collated and to be forwarded. Latest Q:- Is there any way to secure the money into the bank and tell them about this bass and if this is fraud they can refund the money and sent this guy to the court ? !!!!!! -
Fodera Monarch Deluxe - Once in a Lifetime Opportunity - £1750 http://london.craigslist.co.uk/msg/2903255707.html Any comments / further knowledge on this one? Ask as I've now received 25 messages in 12 days via Talkbass from a guy in the USA who wants a Fodera but doesn't seem to think that 'if it looks too good to be true, then it probably is' - asking me if I could check the bank accounts, telephone number [07873879928 - instantly evasive], if I had a friend in Orkney etc. etc. etc. (!!!!) Seller claims to live in Orkney, calls himself both Vincent Huber & Arunas Vaitkevicius and seems to have bank accounts in Notting Hill Gate and Stratford. No PayPal, bank-transfer only. No collection (if anybody was planning a trip to Orkney!) Photos and description apparently lifted form Fodera site ages ago: a bit of a give away when he says .... "although I have owned and played the bass for several years now, Vinny, Joey and I (the three partners / owners here at Fodera) all feel that if one of our instruments is not being played, it should be passed on to someone else...." Chap in the USA seems to think that this bass is now sold and aks if I can find the person (possibly here) who bought it ............ ?! Discuss
