Dude you gotta be crazy selling that bass, I still have the magazine article featuring this bass. It must be just about the best jazz 5 ever made with an amazing one off paint job. I bet it would cost £3500 to replace at today's prices. Keep it and save the tears!
Thanks for the BuMp / comment lana .. hopefully it might encourage even more interest in the bass (!).

Originally my bass, first listed Jan. 2011, sold early March 2001. To a BC'er 'wright/watt' of minimal involvement and questionable lineage. Apparently sold immediately to current seller (OP). It has since been listed here on numerous occasions throughout 2011 (June, July, August, September, Oct. 30th- twice, Dec) then in Jan 2012 and now twice (again) in Feb 2013. Also listed on ebay a few times. I'm adding my original link plus specs. Sold for £1200 and then on-again (reportedly) for £1100. It's claimed to be as shown some 24 months ago; but as it may not have been played / checked much since I would place the value at somewhat lower as it might need some work and, at least, some new strings. (*edit: only managed load 3 of 8 photos - still issues with photo-uploader? Will add more later, if able to do so) http://basschat.co.u...-lsold-pending/ Specification:- Solid body - Flamed Maple – Alder (core) – Flamed Maple top (naturally dried); varnish dried for a min. 5-weeks. Finished in a traslucent burgundy, so the figuring shows through nicely. Neck – naturally dried (3-years) maple. D-shape. Gloss finish. Nut (Teflon/Graphite + hardened zero-fret) : 40mm / 1.57”; Phenowood f/board, radius: 300mm / 11.81”, 24-fret, 33.8” scale, inlay dots. Schaller machine-tuners, mono-rail Bridge, Brass cased strap-pins (deep, threaded inserts) + Security locks. The hardware is Gold: not sure if this is an upgrade (as on the Vigier site it's all chrome) - but it does look much better against the burgundy finish!) Vigier pickups – single, twin-coil inline. Pan, Volume, 3EQ (independent) for Bass (neck) AND Treble (Bridge) pickups (stacked Bass+Bass/Mid+Mid/Treble+Treble)! GlockenKlang pre-amp. 8.3 lbs. (3.8kg.). Vigier (embossed)- Hiscox fitted hardcase.

Having recently acquired an exceptional Lakland 55-94 (couple of photos below) am considering letting this other exceptional 5 go, as the Lakland seems to sit better with the Kinal 5FL I’ve used for years now. This is a nice example of the older / original MTD bass (535 model / 21-fret). Features avadoire (expensive upgrade from standard) + spalted / figured maple body with a wenge neck / maple f/board, and different pickups (no longer available) from those Michael Tobias / MTD use on current instruments. The tone of these pickups is evident in Norm Stockton's playing / bass. This bass sounds similar – typically ‘MTD’ but with a different (‘thicker’) fundamental to current models/electronics (pickups). Everything's fully functional - the bass plays great and is in excellent overall condition – there’s a slim ding/groove on the edge of the upper horn and a couple of dings on the top/rear edge close to the back strap-pin but little else evident (front, back, neck, f/board, headstock all ‘OK’). Specs: model #340; 8.4lbs. weight; 21-fret, 35” scale; 1.75” nut; 9mm(nut) & 19mm (bridge) string spacing/s. Complete with the original (good condition) MTD case and the original documentation. I have a sensible/appealing trade+cash offer which I’m currently considering and will probably accept quite soon if nobody snaps-up the bass for ££ £2345 (inclusive of Courier)
