The band is based around St Neots so they would need to be able to travel to rehearsals there and gigs all around Cambs, Beds, Northants & Herts. We are following up Google and Bing leads but they haven't been very posative so far
University music department notice board?
  2. Loving the tone - is that going through some compression and a bit of overdrive?
  3. I'm still waiting for mine, and following all this talk of modding with interest. But since they're now collectors' items, I might keep it all original - I'm not as young as I used to be and need to start thinking about investing for my old age
  4.
Great player. She plays and sings on "Anomie and Bonhomie" by Scritti Politti. This is a very interesting record and the opening track opens with her bass; even the first note has such a great tone!
Now THAT is a ridiculously under-appreciated album.
  5.
If you do buy one, you'd be nuts to get this one that Rich is selling (if it's still around, that is).
Nuts not to, surely? Go for it... I was knocked out by a 414 I tried, and only this weekend could be seen drooling over a 424 just like the one in that link.
  6.
She's great....too funky for her own good. Plantation Lullabies and Peace Beyond Passion are great albums.
+1, or rather +2 for those. They keep coming back to my CD tray and I'm saving the others to discover later.
  7. I have a Ryder on the way and am also planning to "flat" it. I love the TI Jazz Flats on my fretless, but haven't tried them, or any other flats, on a fretted. So I'm following this thread with interest... Do you know what gauge strings the Ryder ships with? I would expect the "standard" 45s. If the nut's too tight you can always widen it - but the opposite is not true, so I'm wary of fitting say 50s and then finding they don't suit me.
  8. I'll relieve you of your nano-balls if the others don't work out. (srsly)
  9. Loving mine now it's tweaked and restrung. But where's the serial number? Am I being dim or don't they have one?
  10. "Damn you Basschatters!" Or, "I've just made a charitable donation". The website only had Navy Blue ones left, so that made the choice easier! However it's being delivered to my home address, so it'll probably languish in a delivery depot for quite some time before I get my hands on it. The masterplan is to put flats and foam on it. I've got TI Jazz Flats on my fretless, but they cost more that 1/2 the price of the bass!
  11. I recently put Thomastik-Infeld Jazz flats on a fretless. Amazing sound, super-mwah, I even have to roll off the treble to get "that" sound!
  12.
Pics of Mrs T in thigh boots? I must have missed that!!! I'm gutted!!!!! G.
Now I need brain bleach, being old enough to think of Maggie Thatch when someone says "Mrs T". PS I'm not David Cameron.
  13.
So, am I the only one who just looked at the thread title and thought, "Roqsolid are really gonna struggle with this one!"
14. KORG KDM-2 One of the few with a nice big start-stop button on the top too.
  15.
Thanks for the offer Talon but after the Yamaha I purchased last year i'm not gonna buy another, thank you anyway.
Shocked! BB is the biz!
  16. I'm not an expert, but I believe that the rules say that you need to put a price in the subject, preferably with a markup of £150. Anyway, I'm off to edit Sue Ryder's Wikipedia entry to say that it was her playing on all the sessions on Carol Kaye's CV.

    Soliloquy

"Top seller, A+", as they say on a well-known auction site. Bought a Rush book. Quickly posted and arrived in tip-top condition, despite the best efforts of the Royal Mail to destroy the packaging.
  18. +1 for mouse-mat foam. I used three or four layers when doing a similar job, just stacked up with no adhesive.
  19.
. . . how about a six foot three hooker in a divers suit and firemans helmet
Not sure if you mean a rugby player or the, er, other type. 6'3 is a bit tall for either. And entering into an arrangement with either does indeed sound like a short-cut to peril. I think I'll wait until I get home before I start ignoring this thread, then I can do it safely at my own peril.
  20.
If you think you know this bassline (and some actually will, of course) listen - really listen - at 0:55 and see how close you've been getting.
...and a topical reminder as we hurtle towards 31 January!
  21. I'm not at my own peril at the moment - is it OK to ignore it at somebody else's peril?
