1. I can't imagine how this amp wouldn't be loud enough. Only if you plug it in some crap cabinets maybe... Don't be scared. This amp is loud enough for any gig.
2. And, by the way, this was a loud rock gig. With gain and master at 10 o'clock plenty of clean volume. Lot's of headroom available.
3. Ok. I finally gigged the DB 359 for the first time last night. A little delay to have the voltage conversion done. The amp also had a full health check-up and I'm happy to say it's all good! It was a trial by fire for the 359, since the venue I played last night is the one with the worst acoustics of all the ones where I usually play. It's specially difficult for the bass, but I'm used to play there so I had a good reference point. I used cabinets I have used there before as well (Aguilar GS 210 and GS 212), so the only variant was the amp. One thing I noticed before is that no matter how hard I tweaked with the eq I could never get a good bass sound during the first set, when the house is always half-empty. For the second set, with a full house, things always get better. Yesterday I notice a difference right from the start and, as the gig went on, it got better and better. Full, rich valve sound. Very responsive to the dynamics of your playing. The amp also responded really well whenever I used the Catalinbread SFT in front of it for a tiny bit of wool around the notes. I owned some really good valve heads before and I was very pleased with their performance, but from this first experience with the DB 359 in such challenging circumstances I can tell this is the beginning of a long relationship. I'll write a review when I have done a few more gigs with this rig. Cheers Eddie
4.
or go buy a couple of bottles of grolsch with the swing top lids.
I was going to say that, hehe!
5. Sold my Babicz bridge to Steve and the everything went as it should. Easy communication, quick payment. Great guy to deal with.
6.
Velcro it to the front of the power amp. I've seen it done. Tempted to do the same.
Hahaha! Man, I'm Brazilian you know and this is such a Brazilian style solution... Are you Brazilian too? To be honest, a true Brazilian would probably use gaffer tape. Our civilisation was built upon gaffer tape. It's magic! Now seriously... My power amp has ventilation holes at the front. I can't do that. I used it on top of the power amp for a long time, but it sucks. I can't believe they still didn't release a rack version of the VT!!!
7. I bought a VT Bass as soon as it came out. I like it so much I got the Deluxe version recently. It's amazing to be able to program it and have six different sounds, but it's quite big and takes a lot of space on my pedalboard. A lot of people out there use the VT Bass as a preamp, not a stomp box and, in my view, a rackmount version is just such an obvious next step that it's unbelievable they still didn't release one. Since Tech 21 has quite a few successful rackmount products and even an amp version of the VT Bass (not sold in Europe) why not make a VT Bass rackmount? I don't even need the six program locations from the Deluxe. I would be happy with just two, or three. I bet this would be a major hit. I've been waiting for a rack version since they released the original VT Bass. I cannot be alone on this! Maybe they're marketing strategy is to release products little by little, so people end up buying all of them (like me!), but I think they're actually loosing money waiting so long to release this product. Anybody else agrees? Cheers Eddie
8. Johnny bought a Traynor YBA300 (sad to see it go) from me and everything was smooth. Easy communication, paid cash on collection and was a really cool guy to deal with in general. And now he's an even cooler guy with such a killer rig. Traynor YBA300 + Bergantino NV610 = OMG Deal with confidence!
9. Here's where I bought mine: http://www.flightcasewarehouse.co.uk/ They have all sorts of options whatever your budget is. Next day delivery if you order something that's in stock. Cheers
10. Hi guys! For sale here a barely used Babicz Full Contact Hardware 4 string bass bridge in chrome. I put in on one of my basses and does make it sound great. Note clarity and sustain are massively improved. The only problem is I'm not such a big fan of the high tech look of it on a Fender bass. I doesn't look right to my eyes. For those of you not familiar with the Full Contact Hardware concept here's a link. Have a read, it's a wicked design: http://www.fullcontacthardware.com/ £40 posted in the UK. In as new condition, in the original packaging with the manual, screws and the allen key that comes with it. Cheers Eddie
11. I never used the premium ones. I was tempted, but I tend to like quite a bit of tension in my strings and on their website they say that the premium ones are a bit more flexible than the standards. I'm using the standard rounds in one of my basses and they're great! I also have experience with their half wounds and flat wounds and they're all brilliant.
12.
Just got a reply from Rob Green confirming that all their strings are wound, including the.020, so that looks like the winner for now. Thanks eddiehoffman!
Glad to hear that. After I learned about them my string problems are a thing of the past. Cheap + great quality + personal and fast service + custom options = WIN!!!
13.
The freedom of the market is sacrosanct. Profiteering? Who are you to determine what is excessive? Comrade, this isn't some socialist enclave immune from the ebb and flow of the free market. I don't sell much stuff, but if I think I can turn a profit then I will. It's no-one's business but mine. Let's say I pick up something locally for silly money and sell it on here for a reasonable price. Am I wrong? No! I am enterprising. The item was sold for a fair market price, and the price I obtained it for is none of your business. I have no obligation to share my good fortune, I don't owe any of you a damn thing. This overinflated sense of entitlement really sticks in my craw. Goodwill? This is the same place which is the number one (in my experience) source of lowball offers whenever I sell things, so it cuts both ways. I am a capitalist pigdog, and I'm happy to be one. Not happy with a price? Negotiate in private or walk away. Don't stand on a soapbox with a megaphone outside someone's shop complaining about the prices.

If I sell something on here, and the buyer goes on to sell it for more, good luck to them. Will teach me to write a better advert. So long as I was happy with the price I got - and I wouldn`t have sold it if I wasn`t - it`s no longer any of my concern. I can see why some would find it annoying though. But, do your research, shouldn`t be a problem getting a fair price.
+1 to both of the above quoted. Also, like someone said before, prices in the rest of Europe are not the same as in the UK for some gear sometimes. The second hand market in each country is regulated by offer and demand, like over here. Basschat is UK based, but non UK residents are accepted and are free to buy and sell. If someone in Italy adverts something that looks expensive to us here in Britain, that might appeal to someone in, say, Poland for example.
14. How are you plugging it into the Mark Bass? If you're plugging into the normal instrument jack, try to use the active input, or lower the Sansamp output, or both. But, if I were you, I would plug it into the effects return and bypass the amp's preamp. In my experience Sansamps work better like that. Also, how is your power? If you're not using batteries, make sure your power supply is of good quality and adequate for the job. There's also the odd chance your Sansamp is faulty. If you tried everything and it's still hissing that's probably the case...
15. Mine is a 77 one. Heavy, but very comfortable. Makes sound engineers very happy all the time.
16. http://www.status-gr...index_home.html Go to 'on-line shop', 'bass strings' and check the custom options. You can make a set with any gauge you want. The best bit is the strings are great! Can't use anything else these days. Hope it helps.
17. It's a shame you can't try the B-410HLF. I was seriously impressed with the lows in this cab. I honestly believe this cabinet sounds much more expensive than it is.
18. If size/weight is not a problem, and you want to buy something new, you can't beat the Ampeg B-410HLF. Unbelievable sound, specially for the price (DV has them for £449). I did a month long season using one last year and was extremely pleased. I was told it was going to be an SVT610, so when I got there and saw the B series 410 I must say I wasn't so happy. But that feeling disappeared when I hit the first note. Very deep and well rounded lows, nice Ampeg mid growl and all the sizzle in the world with the adjustable tweeter (I don't like it, but if you want it is there). They only come in 4 ohms. There's also an Aguilar GS410 for sale here on basschat. It's 8 ohms, but these are loud cabinets. I have the 2x10 version and can only imagine the damage the 4x10 can do... You won't be disappointed with this bad boy.
19. Hi guys! For sale here, or for trade, maybe for some effects pedal, my DBX 266XL rack compressor. Very good if you like smooth, clean compression. No loss of lows or highs, no tone coloration... It works a treat to keep that bottom tight and to even out note levels across the fingerboard. Quality piece of gear, but I haven't been using it for more than a year now since I stopped using my rack set up in favour of different bass heads. Unfortunately I don't have the original box anymore, but I do have the manual. It's very easy and intuitive to use anyway. It has always been kept in a safe rack and other than a few very minor scratches (from when I put it in the rack, probably) it's in perfect condition. Only a minor cosmetic issue though, not affecting the functionality of the unit at all. If you put it in a rack it looks as good as in the day it was bought. Here are some pictures: Looking for £60 posted in the UK, or £50 collected from SW9. Cheers Eddie
