1. The only thing more boring than a drum solo is a bass solo, hehehe! Speaking in general, that's my view. Obviously there's been very few exceptions, again in my view. Nothing more beautiful than a drummer and a bass player just grooving together like a well oiled machine...
2. I never had the chance to use a proper 70's SVT, but I had an early 2000's one for a while and I thought it was the best amp in the world. That is until I tried one of these babies. These are great sounding amps! Wish I had the cash... Free bump on me.
3. A little delay, but it will be here on Tuesday. I'll keep you posted. Cheers
4. I used a very similar set up for a long time. VT Bass into power amp driving different cabinets. Actually, I'm inclined to move back to this rig because it sounds so good. The only power amp I ever used is my QSC PLX1602. It's ten years old now and it never failed me. Only think I ever did was to replace the fan because it was getting a bit noisy and the tech said it was better to change it before it goes in the middle of a gig. So if you don't want to ever have to worry about the reliability of your rig I strongly recommend QSC. Take a look at the QSC GX range. They're cheaper than the PLX series but supposed to be equally good. With a QSC GX5 you'd get 500 watts per channel at 8 ohms. They only weight 12kgs and would fit in a shallow rack case. I'm thinking to replace mine PLX with one of these just because of their portability. Check this link: http://qscaudio.com....ns/GX_specs.pdf Cheers Eddie* *Unfortunately in no way associated with QSC
5. Hey guys! For sale here is my Marshall 2x12 guitar cabinet. It's the JCM 2000 Triple Super Lead cabinet, model TSLC212, factory equipped with one Celestion Vintage G12 and one Celestion Heritage G12 speaker with a power handling of 140 watts at 16 ohms. This cabinet has seen very little use. It used to belong to a friend of mine who rarely took it out of the house, came to me in a trade we did and I never used it other than the day I got it to test it. Sounded great when I plugged my Orange Tiny Terror in it. But now it's just sitting here, so I decided to sell it. Price is £130 collected from SW9. I can arrange a courier at the buyer's expense, but I guess it's going to cost quite a lot due to the dimensions + weight of the cabinet when properly packed. Here are the pictures. Other than the small nicks on the tolex portrayed, the cabinet is as new: Cheers
6. I don't see a problem. My advice would be to try to set the sansamp fairly clean and use the amps natural saturation as a starting point.
7. Changed the strings this morning, gave it a little set up, plugged it in and... OH MY GOD! Sounds fantastic and the neck actually makes me play an average 23% better (I measured it and it's scientific fact). Great bass, Mike! Thank you! Cheers
8.
Thank you Eddie. I played it last night and got a lot of cool comments. Its a beast.
I'm very pleased to hear that Mike. It is indeed a monster of a bass. Keep rockin' mate! Cheers
9.
I was all lined up to trade with a guy who pulled out last minute over the summer........ so no
Hi Gavin, I just bought one from the States and it should be here by the end of the next week! I'll let you know what it is like. I ALWAYS wanted to have one of these. I can't believe it I managed to grab one. Keep watching this space... Cheers
10. Hey people! Anybody out there ever used the Aguilar DB359? http://basstasters.com/preamps/Aguilar_DB359.html I always wanted to try one, but never got the chance. They've been discontinued for a while now and don't come up second hand often. Please, share your thoughts. Cheers Eddie
11. Late night bumpage! Ah... It's got almost new D'Addario nickel rounds on and I'm putting an unused set of the same strings in the case.
12. Howdy-ho! This rig is going to see almost no use at all from now on, so I decided to see if there's any interest out there. Here's what I have to offer: - Orange Terror Bass 500 in absolute mint condition. Less than a year of very little use, in the original box and with the gig bag. Original preamp valves already swapped for NOS JAN-PHILLPS 12AT-7. You don't have to worry about that. I can send the original valves with it if you want. £350 posted in the UK - Two Orange OBC 115 cabinets in very, very good condition. Nothing other than some tiny scuffs on the tolex and the expected wear marks on the bottom plywood skids. Unnoticeable stuff really. These are great sounding cabs that are the punchiest 15" speakered cabinets I ever used. No loose bottom here. Only trouser flapping lows and sweet mid range growl. They are also not so big and not so heavy for the punch that they deliver. Check the specs at Orange's website: http://www.orangeamp...15-speaker-cab/ £200 each collected from SW9. I prefer to avoid to use a courier for these babies because of the usual costs, hassles and perils. If you're no too far away we can maybe meet somewhere in the middle of the road? The Terror Bass head delivers almost the full 500 watts even at 8 ohms. It makes a pretty respectable rig even when combined with only one of the OBC cabinets, all with a small footprint. I played venues for 300 people, without the bass going through the PA with this single cabinet setup, with the gain at 2 and the volume between 4 and 5 and it was loud enough and clear. If anybody wants a portable powerhouse a of a bass rig and wants to take the head and only one of the cabs, it's yours for £525 collected from SW9. That's almost the price of the amp, or the cab alone. Bargain! Now... This rig sounds awesome and LOOOOUD when put together. I only ever got the chance to use it all at once a few times. But... If you're going to tour arenas in the near future, or if you want to upset your guitar player and drummer by finally being louder than them you can have the whole thing for £700 collected from SW9. B-A-R-G-A-I-N!!! Here are some pics taken today: Any takers? Cheers Eddie
13.
Great vid showcase. Love the tele - what is it?
Thanks man! The Tele is late 90's USA Hot Rod. I love that guitar too. It's my favourite guitar in terms of sound and playability. Unfortunately that one is gonna be buried with the bastard... Cheers
14. I used to own one of these first Attitudes, also in Thunder Blue. It was my main gigging bass from 2001 to 2007. I used it much more than I thought I would because I could get so many different sounds out of it and the neck, despite its width, felt so comfortable and easy to play. These are great basses! Have a bump.
