1. this is a bloody gorgeous bass that I bought when I had some success with an indie band. it's a fantastic bass, but these days i'm mostly playing jazz/funk and i'm playing a lot more guitar. my stingray suits my 4 string needs a bit better with the active pre, and my main gigging bass is my 6 string, since I use the low B so much. might trade for an old fender bass (J ideal, maybe P, let me know what you have), or an old fender strat... but surprise me, let me know what's going on! but again - I'll only trade for something that really catches my eye. she's in good nick, but an old bass that has been played a lot, and it shows - started to yellow, a couple of dings from general wear and tear, one small chip on the lacquer over the fretboard, frets in good condition, one of the tuners is a bit loose but if anyone is interested i'd take her to the shop to get her sorted out (it wasn't an issue for me). also, i never had the bridge pickup horseshoe for this bass. again, a fantastic bass, just can't justify having this much money tied up in a bass that i just have no need for anymore.
2. - have to click the "watch in youtube" button, skip to about 1:40 - act is 'schwing'. - this was the full piece just after we learnt it. there's a nice bass slide towards the end and an oldie - me at 15, having a go at some funk. before i could read music / knew any music theory. doubt i could come up with something like that now to be honest
3. badump for a wicked amp, the guitarist in my old band used to use one and it sounded suh-weet. would pick it up myself but i'm unfortunately sharing a room this year, and my roomie isn't a fan of rock music.
4. just thinkin out loud, would you be willing to split the amp and the enclosure? logistically don't have the room for the enclosure, but i've been jamming with a guitarist who has a music room in his accomodation with some old school cabs going spare and nothing to power them with... we've got two engineers, a physicist, an applied mathematician and a med student in the band - i wonder if we could knock something out of that valve amp. not sure if i'd wanna spend the cash anyway tbh, i should be saving up for the blackie 79 strat on denmark street, but i might be swayed. let me know what you think about splitting!
5. may well take you up on this - will let you know in the next week or so for sure, just need to confirm my timetable!
6. holy crap, these guys are awesome. will be unfortunately be both carless for the next few years and ampless for the time being when i move on friday (not to mention suffering 38 hour-a-week lectures) so I'm out for the count, but hot damn if they play camden i'm there.
7. well bollucks to you guys! have been playing bass in south wales for 6 years now... i suddenly move to london and what's this! a south wales bass bash! have a good one lads
8. i've got a lovely ibanez sr3006e... not sure of the spacing but it's a very pleasant neck to play, was my first ever 6er and the only one I properly agree with because I too have small hands! lets me do everything from crazy driving ska basslines to chilling back with the jazz/trip hop... and everything inbetween. fast forward to 50 seconds in this clip to hear some 20 seconds of the bass going through a nice sound system - who said a 6 string couldn't swing? note the fatness of the low B too... very solid. 9. just putting in a good word for that pickup combo in a jackson, i fitted a set to my mates RR a couple of years back and it ended up with one of the sweetest tones i've ever heard in any guitar... and i've heard a lot of guitar tones
10. holy crap! i knew moving to london would pay off. will have to keep my eyes peeled for details!
11. honestly can not believe this is still here, and a complete steal at that price. really if I didn't have one just like it I would have bought it at the higher price - no excuses now!
12.
Lovely bass there & at not a bad price  I have a 70's Antoria 335 copy. Great guitar, love it.
my mates dad had one of these and constantly badmouthed it. everytime I offered to buy it and he backed down seriously, a great guitar there that I still wish I'd prized out of his hands.
13. he plays a lot right by me - the family are swansea based and his brother owns the local jazz club. quite often he's the in house bassist. what a treat, and what a nice guy!
14. biggest musical regrets: not going to music college with my best mate a couple of years ago and doing a-levels instead. and as a result turning down a tour supporting the lost prophets in order to focus on my studies. biggest sale specific regret would probably be my warwick corvette a couple of years ago - sold for a good sum of money, can't complain there - but I had a real connection with that bass, i breathed funk through it and have never gotten the same feel on any bass since.
15. been playing bass guitar for some 5, will be 6 years in september... about 3 years ago in school the wind instructor heard me jamming some weather report and asked if i wanted to play double bass with the wind band (never played one before that).. a year later i ended up touring italy with a string orchestra. was awesome. now I tend to do a bit of both, almost always bass guitar but now and then some hip hop guys from the music college will chuck me a few bob to go in and do the odd doublebassline for a sample. kind of how I like it tbh - I get to whap out the db when I feel like it, and use it just enough to justify having it - but I don't have to go through the hassle of taking it to every gig I play. plus, playing "lovecats" is a sure way to any woman's pants. edit: I do actually play with electric jazz funk bands, and a good swing group (we were on bgt for some 29 seconds this year ) but to be honest I almost just bring the bass guitar... granted, nothing swings like a DB - but most of our gigs involve heading down the motorway in my drummers polo, and it's just not worth the hassle to everyone for me. one of those fancy electric ones would be pretty cool, but for that I'd have to be gigging more to justify buying one.
16. holy crap. if i've got any cash when i'm back from travelling in august then if there's any tickets left i'm there. i sent an e-mail to billy sheehan when i was 13 and he replied the next day, had i reached puberty i would have jizzed.
17. i had a traben phoenix a few years ago... it was pretty schweet. exactly what I wanted at the time, was playing in a power metal band and wanted some flash. not a bad bass at all - very distinctive sound, there's a bump in the upper mids somewhere that I've not heard on any other bass since, took a bit of getting used to but I miss selling it now. nice round sound on the neck pickup too. might have been nice to swap the bridge pup to a bartolini or something a touch warmer though. all in all a pretty good experience tho! wouldn't buy one again 'coz tastes change and the such, but definitely worth checking out.

22. these are wicked guitars, i've got one similar and it is schweet to play, very fast neck. have a bump on me, someone will get a great guitar at a good price!
