  1. That makes sense as it brings it closer to your ear level and should help to hear yourself better.
  2. I turned the tweeter off on my ext cab. Not a fan of tweeters. Is the tweeter something you feel is important to your sound. ? If not i'd go for the matching New York cab. Not heard of the D2 version ? Dave
  3. I had that combo with ext cab. More than loud enough for most situations. Used in Prog band, 70's covers band and rock band and it seemed to work well in all of them. Don't think the issue is the amp. I tried the amp thru my Berg HT322 cab and it was far beefier and more depth than the two single 12" MB cabs. I always found the MB rig seemed to sit really well in any mix but on its own it seemed a bit thin. If anything i'd add the 2nd cab as it does seem to thicken the sound a bit. Have you considered adding the MB 15 cab instead Dave
  4. I've been listening to our very own @AndyTravis with his new P bass on another thread. Lovely sounding bass. Put me right in the mood for a P bass now. Dave
  5. If you know someone near you that you could try theirs (once the lock down has passed of course)
  6. Ordinary 3 pin plug no adaptor
  7. Yes its a small transformer unit plugs into mains socket with a low voltage cable and connector that fits into socket at back of receiver.. Dave
  8. Nice basses. Good seeing the full thing.
  9. Great song. We cover that in our 70's Glam covers band. This might help you with the bass part Schools Out Bass by Alice Coopertabs @ Ultimate Guitar Archive.pdf
  10. Post a couple of full bass pics. Curious to see the full effect. They look so good. 👍 Dave
  11. What is it. ? Never heard of it before.
  12. I can understand why both your wives are carers now. Makes sense. Dave
  13. Smooth Hound here as well. Only issue i had was when doing a support gig on a busy stage with their sound desk behind the bass amp ? Their vocal mic receiver was next to desk and bass amp where my Smooth Hound receiver was sitting. It didn't affect the sound a great deal but it did jump about a few frequencies at the start of sound check and then eventually settled down. I could hear a very fast millisecond drop out on occasion but as i said it settled down. Wouldn't normally have 2 receivers sitting that close to each other. They were approx 1-2 feet apart and almost in line with each other if that makes a difference. Other than that its been absolutely perfect. Dave
  14. Posh cafe. I like everything in its place and most people like what i have. Always enough to please everyone without being too showy. Dave
  15. Much the same debate with Rosewood V maple necks and how they affect tone. I definitely hear subtle differences to my ear altho an audience probably doesn't unless solo'ing basses. Then again i'm interested in what i hear as it makes me think i'm playing better Dave
  16. Wise choice and i'm now looking forward to seeing some pics when it arrives. Dave
  17. I've not played a wenge Dingwall but i've owned the maple 5 stringer and it was a great neck. The low B was first class and sound engineer fiends i know in studios where i've used it loved the tone. I have a wenge Warwick Thumb NT from 89 and the feel of that neck is 2nd to none. I'm not talking about playability as such, it just feels nice on the hand. If it was me and i had my mind set on wenge now then i think i would hold out for the later delivery. I have a feeling you might regret it if you make a decision based on delivery time. SIMPLIFY THE DECISION :- If both necks were available at same time what one would you pick. That's your answer IMHO. Looking forward to seeing the finished product whatever you decide. They do make some gorgeous basses. Dave
  18. Pretty good sir. Well done getting that gig and wish you all the very best when things pick up for gigs again. Dave
  19. Keep it Karl, you know ya wanna. Love mine. Don't think i'll ever move it on. Its up there with my other keepers Overwater custom 6 fretless Warwick Thumb NT 89 Fender Jazz (Geddy) Anything else i'd sell on now. Dave
  20. Yep think that's why my we hand was aching trying to learn it. Was using this but not sure its 100% accurate but its a good guideline. Obviously his live version has variations. Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick Bass by Ian Dury and the Blockheadstabs @ Ultimate Guitar Archive.pdf

  22. I took a first stab at Hit Me With your Rhythm Stick last night. Its been on my bucket list for many a year now. Might as well make the most of this lock down. Just the verse riff to sort out. Can play it slowly but struggling with the speed and trying to remember it all. Needs more work. After 15 mins my left hand is killing me tho. After i can sort that out i'll just polish it off and try to make it sound like Norman. That's the hard part. It takes a lot of speed and stamina to play that full song. I need to work on my fretting hand stamina. Ouch !!! Dave
  23. I bought the Kansas 30th anniversary Sailing collection a few yrs back. Fantastic band with some very emotional songs. Was listening to Gentle Giant few days ago and thought they had a similar sound. .At first i didn't know who it was on a compilation Prog album. Dave
