  1. Had a listen to Storyville and saw some comments that his first album was actually better called Robbie Robertson. Gave that a listen and agreed. Only £6 compared to £18 for Storyville. Ordered his first album and will wait till Storyville price drops a bit. Dave
  2. There was an item in Sounds or NME about the hot new bands in 76 to look out for. Police, Blondie, Rush were the only 3 i can remember from the list. The Rush album and description looked so different from the others altho the same ad got me listening to the Police. Bought mine in Glasgow somewhere. Dave
  3. You have an impressive selection of friends Kevin. Nice one. You mst be pretty good to get to that level. Dave
  4. I'm guessing you are playing professionally rather than a hobby band.
  5. What band are you with Kevin. I'm originally from Motherwell and might know the band. Dave
  6. I youtubed it to see the preview VID and it sounds good. Singer has a really good voice. Very distinctive and suits the music. Dave
  7. Too true. I first got into Rush when 2112 album was released in 76 Dave
  8. That was good. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
  9. Missed Rush at Ingleston but saw Boston there and the sound was woeful. Oddly enough the support band sounded better but the volume was lower. So maybe with the higher volumes you got more boom around the hall. Not been to the Hydro yet but maybe some day. Dave
  10. They live in Lonan Dr up past Fire Station. Stan's a biker. Carol's lived there for a long time. Her original husband died many yrs ago and Stan and Carol married few yrs back now. Carol has a daughter but can't remember her name. She may have been a school teacher at some point but not too sure. She travelled a lot around the different schools in Argyle area. Think they have a Jaguar 4x4. Oban is a fair old size. Dave
  11. Think they were from a cowboy outfit i had
  12. Classic style never goes out of fashion
  13. Don't laugh but here's THEN & NOW pics. Me with my Beatles guitar and plastic wig (circa 1964) and now with not much change really in 55 yrs.
  14. Even i might manage to capture that smooth, cool and relaxed playing style that is reggae. Dave
  15. Yep that always puts a smile on my face too even tho i'm not really a Reggae fan. Happy with that. I even let it play all the way through. Dave
  16. Not heard that in years and yep i had a nice smile when the music started. Nice one. Dave
  17. That means i have the full album to learn now. Downloaded them all @Bilbo. My fav track from you so far is Theme One by Cozy Powell. Always loved that track. thanks again Dave
  18. That and Games Without Frontiers
  19. He did use one finger style most of the time which was a carry over from his cello and upright basses but he used all his fingers like a classical guitarist when he had fast passages to play. He was taught at Royal Scottish Academy of music so i'm guessing it stems from that. Dave
  20. This used to do it for me. One of my "Feel Good" songs
  21. Had a fretless Jaydee for couple of yrs mainly because i always fancied a Jaydee. I found it a little bit limiting from its EQ. I think i expected more. To be fair i only ever played it at home at lower volumes and that might have been the issue. I probably should have bought a fretted one. Nice bass to play tho. Dave
  22. I would go as far as to say they were the best at what they did from that style of metal. I can also say that i saw Iron Maiden before they were hugely famous and doing the larger rock venue pubs and clubs. Nice enough guys too from what i remember. I helped them load their gear into my local venue (got me free entry at night and a few beers) I preferred more traditional Rock music like Deep Purple and Whitesnake etc but that's what i was brought up on after my Glam rock era in early 70's of course. Dave
  23. Definitely agree. I enjoyed the hits but have only ever bought the occasional album just to see if i could copy Steve Harris's bass lines. He has an unbelievable stamina to keep that pace up for a full live concert. All credit to him. I do like his tone tho. Unfortunately it gets a bit boring for me. Its for a younger generation than me . Dave
  24. But the jazz is on the opening shot as seen above. He did normally play the Ric live tho. Its an amazing Vid clip with people spotting little bits and pieces the more they watch it. Dave
