  1. You'll get there Rob. Dave
  2. Was my local 7 nights a week in 80's. Happy days. Dave
  3. Another song i really enjoyed playing was Do Anything You Wanna Do by Eddie & Hot Rods. Dave
  4. Not been in the Cherry Tree since late 80's / early 90's too. Wasn't my fav pub to be honest. I had a few run ins with the locals when i was in my late teens and they tended to frequent it. 😂 Have you tried Girdwoods in Wishaw. Played it a few times with punk band and can be a good night. Dave
  5. Sounds a lot better with the drop D. Lot more depth if your singer can do it. Its a 2 second retune to be honest. Loved playing Tommy Gun but SLF songs were my fav punk songs. We did Alternative Ulster, Gotta Gettaway, At The Edge, Nobody's Hero. We grouped Into Valley, Complete Control and Alternative Ulster at the end of the set. Encores being One Way or Another and Pretty Vacant. I do miss playing the punk songs even tho i was never a punk fan. Just so much energy in the songs. Dave
  6. When i was with the punk band we did Into The Valley by the skids which is drop tuned on the E to D. I start the song so it can't proceed until i'm ready and the next song Alternative Ulster by SLF which has a decent guitar intro and i had plenty of time to tune back up to the E again. To be fair the band usually waited until i gave them the nod before starting the next song. Dave
  7. Wish i had known you were there and would have dropped in for a bit. I usually see the band advertised on their sandwich board outside when i'm sitting in Costa coffee across the road but couldn't quite make out the name on the board. Maybe next time. What's the band name ? Dave
  8. We generally have a mixed age group. Lot of younger ones think the Glam band is just a great fun night and we've had hen nights, women's birthday parties etc at our gigs but always dancing. Think its the style of music. Glam is a dancing kind of music whereas blues tends to have people that enjoy the musicianship more than a dance if that makes sense, until the drink hits, then folks will dance to anything 😂 Dave
  9. Hopefully a speedy recovery and you can get back to normal as soon as possible. I had to google what that was and it sounds very uncomfortable indeed. All the best Dave
  10. Yep i'm a big fan of Guy Pratt ever since seeing Delicate Sound of Thunder original video tape which for me had a better mix than the re-release they did. His bass solo was outstanding in that vid. Dave
  11. Ooohh that's nice. That would look great in my Glam band. Dave
  12. that's one lucky guy dancing at the front with 4 young ladies all dancing with him. Respect. 😂 What colour is your Epi TB @neepheid at one point it looked purple ? Dave
  13. Very interested in this. A bit more info and / or vids would be nice. Are you covering his solo material as well. So many options there. Dave
  14. Ach its months away. After my plaster came off i rode my sports bike to the physio at the local hospital and she gave me a rollocking for it but as i explained my leg was encased in motorbike boots with 5 straps up the side. It was stronger than the plaster i had on. She wasn't happy but i had no other way of getting there. I couldn't walk to my nearest bus stop to get a bus as it was difficult walking at that time plus the walk from the bus stop to the physio was even longer. Dave
  15. How very dare you !!!! 😂 White Hi-tec baseball boots was more my thing at that age so you weren't far off the mark. Dave
  16. Bet you were straining at the bit to get up and do some pogoing at that gig. ? Few of us have struggled on with broken bits Daryl @Bluewine so no excuses. Dave
  17. Link was "private" @colleya Dave
  18. Have to admit i stood at all the gigs i did and from memory i vaguely recall my leg was a bit aching but not that bad i had to sit down. Here's me standing at one of the gigs. You can just see the white plaster cast under my jeans on my right leg. Altho a roadie did all the lifting of my gear i still managed to wire it all up. I was using a Roland pre-amp with 2 Mattamp power amps that i had positioned on my LHS so i could make changes as and when required. Unfortunately at this particular gig one of the power amps started smoking badly and when roadie went to switch it off he got a shock from it. He was ok tho and simply pulled the mains plug instead. Dave
  19. Played a late afternoon gig in Methil yesterday with Blockbustarz Glam band. Ticket sales not great with only 50 sold but with a few walk ins we had a decent enough audience. Not the most enthusiastic but they dance from early on and we had the dance floor filled on several occasions with the floor shouting for more songs at the end. Started 4pm and finished 6:30pm with a 20min break in middle. According to club they are seeing less custom at the moment and last week they put a free band on and the place was empty so not good news. Not sure what's going on there but hopefully they get to grips with it. When we mentioned the Xmas gig on 14the Dec the organiser said it wasn't in his diary but he'll double check and get back to us. We'll give it a week and if nothing from him we'll take another booking. We had to refuse 3 other enquiries for Dec gigs so should manage to fill it. Another club in the next village have been looking to get in on the Glam thing too so who knows. Used the Sandberg VM4, Shure wireless, Keeley Bassist comp and into Handbox WB-100 and the new Barefaced 212 cab. This was the cabs first proper trial as it was a large club with no PA support and it worked a treat. I could hear the cab no matter where i stood on the stage. Hollow stage so the bass does boom a bit even on a gramma pad. The Barefaced cab sounds very similar to my Mesa rig with the Mesa 210 giving it slightly more mid focus but not a lot in it. The tone with an all valve head is just sublime. The fact its a one hand lift with a single cab to a gig makes it worthwhile for me. The one big change to my sound has been dropping the VM4 pick up height a touch. When i was digging in i was getting more distortion than i liked and i have never really been able to nail the issue. Changed amps, cabs but wasn't sure. Using the Barefaced cab which is 1000W confirmed it was more down to the bass. The gig last night proved it has been the bass all along. I tweaked it during the week and its now perfect with some distortion when i really dig in hard. On a more personal note we decided to hit the local McD's and had a Big Mac Meal and i'm still searching for the meat. Apparently 2 burgers in it and i couldn't taste meat anywhere. The cheese slice was thicker than the burgers and the roll was twice the diameter of the burgers. Won't be buying that again. Seriously reckon the burgers were 3" diameter and about 1/8th inch thick. (That's 75mm and approx 3mm for the younger generation) Next week is a new venue for us in Camelon, Falkirk. 2 weeks later we are in Camelon again at our regular venue for a birthday party. Dave
  20. Never too old to learn Rob. Dave
  21. Jings Daryl sorry to hear that mate. I would add that i toured with a broken leg in plaster cast. It can be done provided your bandmates help with your gear, or you just hire a roadie as i did. Dave
  22. Road of Bones is a classic Prog album IMO. Up there with Seconds Out. Dave
  23. Superb stuff Rob. I used to go see them in Glasgow on a Sat afternoon. They would play Echoes, Suppers Ready and I Know What i Like then add in some of their own songs. I remember buying a tape of the album and have been buying them on and off over the years. We even managed to persuade them to play our local pub gig at The Heathery bar which at the time was the biggest "pub" gig in UK holding 250-300 people if i remember correctly. Hugely popular band up here in Scotland. Unfortunately the singer Euan left which was a shame as he used to appear with all the Genesis style costumes. Just a fantastic group of musicians. Great to see them on your page. Dave
  24. I started as an Instrument Apprentice in 76 and found myself using both imperial for older kit and metric for any new kit purchased. In those days Instrumentation was more pneumatic control in psi with new or foreign kit coming in barg. Temperatures varied from Fahrenheit to Celsius to Kelvin Pressures from psi to Barg to BarA (atmospheric) Distance was a combination of imperial and metric Weight was pounds / stones to Kg Coming from an age where holidays abroad meant conversions to francs, drachma, Pesetas and eventually Euros. Happy days. Dave
