  1. Hopefully you'll get some replacements in that you also get along with. Don't just settle tho, try and get the right fit. Appreciate that's not an easy thing to find. All the very best Dave
  2. Curious why the drummer has an all black vinyl strip round his drumkit ? Other than that i really enjoyed the two vids. Those Hartke rigs have a nice clank to them too. Singer has a cracking gruff voice that suits Roadhouse perfectly for me. Great band and cheers for sharing. Dave
  3. Liked that Andy. Love the tone from that Gibson bass. It has a nice mid edge to it. I can feel that GAS starting again. Dave
  4. Again i'm laughing but don't know the area but your comment also made me laugh a lot. I can only assume your wife isn't on BC after that comment Dave
  5. I'm laughing but i honestly don't know the area at all. I just found your response funny Dave
  6. It wisnae us Mart. Oddly enough i've had that feeling where things sounded a bit out of tune and when i check its fine. Weird. Dave
  7. I couldn't work with that kind of set up either. When our BL (i say Band Leader only because he started the band off) gets a gig he posts it on our FB private chat and asks if we are all ok with it. Since the band was formed we always said that if one person in the band didn't agree with something then that was it and we wouldn't do it whether that was a gig or a song suggestion. Anything really. It works for us but maybe not for everyone. Sometimes people are selfish without realising it ? I'm assuming you all tried to discuss the issue but failed to have any effect on him. Shame if that was the only issue and it couldn't be resolved especially if the band was busy and you were enjoying the music and the others were all ok. Dave
  8. I've made it perfectly clear to both bands that i don't want the band feeling like a job as it then becomes a chore for me. Typically 2-3 gigs a month is ok for me altho Dec is usually a good bit busier. I'm not happy doing 2 nights in a row as it just knackers me but i will do the Fri and Sat pre Xmas thing as long as Xmas isn't the day after. I have a thing about Xmas ................... i just love it and its a day i very rarely got to enjoy when i was working full time. I'm making up for lost time. I'm retired (63 yrs old) so not getting any younger. I gave up gigs from mid 90's to 2010 when i got back into it. I didn't really miss bands but it just sort of happened and i got the bug again and couldn't get enough of being in a band. And now i'm busier than i ever was as a youngster. Why not take a break and get into a band that everyone agrees is part time, fun, a hobby and agree up front how many gigs you all want to play per week/month/year and stick to that. Falkirk to Aberdeen and staying overnight is a no no for me. I have cats i need to get home for and drummer has 3 dogs so that wont work. Typically a 2 hr drive is max i want to travel for a gig except on a rare occasion for something special. I have a feeling you will get back into something a bit more relaxed and enjoyable. All the very best with whatever you decide tho. Dave
  9. Charity event with BLOCKBUSTARZ Glam covers last night organised by Falkirk Football Club at a venue we sold out last year. Was busy but not quite full last night but ended up a great night. The organiser asked us if we would play the clubs song Amarillo just for a laugh and because we know him we agreed. Boy did that go down a storm. I think everyone was crammed onto the floor bouncing about singing. Altho i was apprehensive about doing the song i have to say i actually enjoyed playing it and the reaction from the audience was such a buzz. They also do specific actions at parts of the song. It was so much fun we got asked to play it again as the encore. Home for 2:30am, little or no traffic on roads, coffee and a couple of jaffa cakes and off to bed. Something my wife and i do on journeys home now is munch a bag of peanut M&M's. They seem to help keep me awake on the drive and certainly take away the after gig munches. No pics or vids as yet but plenty of folks with their mobiles out so will see what appears. We even got paid at soundcheck so that's always a good sign. Finished playing at midnight but staff were clock watching us to get packed up and out so they could get home but in a fun way and were brilliant with us all night. We were out before 1am. Great staff at Camelon Social Club in Falkirk. Dave
  10. Odd one for Glam band this afternoon. Not a gig but a photo shoot. Not something i'm used to but i'll give it a go and see what comes out of it. Dave
  11. What bass are you using there ? Looks nice. Dave
  12. Well done. Positive thinking and actions work a treat. Dave
  13. That explains it perfectly. Now........ what is Alt Rock. ? you then get classic rock which now covers so many different styles too. Dave
  14. No distortion .................. sacrilege, absolute sacrilege. How is that even possible. Dave
  15. So what exactly is "Indie" music. ? When i google it i see bands that i would just class as 80's pop music. Dave
  16. I'm guessing its Indie / pop music based on the bands mentioned. To be honest i'm too old to know exactly what an Indie band is Dave
  17. At that price any Berg cab is a bargain but that's a steal. I've owned a few Berg cabs over the years and they have to be some of THE best cabs on the market. Build quality is 2nd to none. GLWTS Dave
  18. Think i'm at Dreadnought in July with the Glam band too as Xmas you might be busy with your own band. Alan was telling us the band on the Fri night were good. Dave
  19. I tend to learn songs by ear using bass tabs or music. I also like to write out the music in full which helps me remember it in two different ways. I also like to know the songs inside out so that if someone else makes a slight mistake i can keep going and they are more easily able to catch up kinda thing. If someone does make a mistake and others follow i'm more able to adapt as i know the songs really well. To be fair i've been playing same songs for almost 5 yrs in one band and 2 yrs in the other with only minor changes over the years but i practice the full set at home at least once a week and always the afternoon of a gig time permitting. It gives me an air of confidence when playing. I've had situations where i couldn't hear either the vocals or the guitar very well so its paid off knowing the songs really well. I can more or less count the bars in most songs altho i don't actually do that but the notes i make are stamped in my head for instant recall Dave
  20. Was that The Wild Hogs ? Was talking with Alan and Pete and they said it was a great night on Fri too. They've been surprised how many folks are turning up at the Jan gigs as its normally a very quiet month for music venues. Dreadnought is such a well organised venue. Alan and Douglas do a fantastic job with it and they're such nice guys in there from owner, manager, sound engineers to the bar and door staff. Just a great place to play. I always enjoy it in both bands. Got the Xmas Sat gig again for later this year with the Glam band. That's a cracking night out. Dave
