I received clarification from ABM on this matter – their aluminium bridge is black chrome, not black paint/powder coat
They state that the aluminium is not good for metallic coating

@Bassman666 had the hardware on his Lakland blacked - might be an idea to PM him...
Thanks @TheGreek – the ABM isn't in stock until late January – the bridge is for the Wal Pro 1e rescue that @Andyjr1515 is working on for me – not sure I can wait until then so might go with the Hipshot A
Will consult @Bassman666 if the need arises – thanks for the tip 😊

I was thinking of buying an aluminium ABM bridge in black and the company tell me that black aluminium is no longer available as aluminium isn't great for paint adhesion
It seems doable as other brands offer this combination
Any thoughts on this?

Nice one! Interesting stuff – and the Colt!

I might just get another body made for this, as it's so nice
Luthier-built 6-bolt fretless neck for sale – maple neck with lined ebony board and MM-style tru-oil finish on the maple – great condition with faint marks from round wound strings that could easily be sanded out
I bought this from @Beedster about 10 or so years ago, on ebay IIRC
It was built by a North-East luthier by the name of Jim Kearns, although I will have to check my notes to confirm the name
Pics to follow this weekend

Paul at Wal did say he could make a new body but the cost was beyond my budget and it could be a long wait

Bravo!
I lit several candles for you this morning and recited many of the luthiers' guild prayers while chanting the mantra that only the few know

Is it going to have Wal-shaped body (if so which one) or something different?
It will be a Pro 1e in all but the bridge – unfortunately, Wal won't sell me one of those 😢

I think that's known as a DFA switch 😊
I have John's uni-pre in two of my basses and a J-retro – top notch sound sculpting all round
