2.
as i posted earlier i did'nt think rico sounded that good(bless him)but loved (no pun intended)the song he sang.did he sing it originally or who did?would like to get hold of it.
Rico sang 'L-O-V-E', originally (I think) by the great Nat King Cole. And to add my sixpennorth... Dave Edmunds,Annie Lennox,Duffy,The Hold Steady all great. Ting Tings okay. Adele okay, but does anybody else think her pitching is sometimes a bit out? Martha&Vandellas did great considering they're pushing 70,although like previous post some of the lead vocals were a bit odd! Kelly Jones and Dizzee Rascal ok but not for me. And what an ace performance by Jools and the band, especially Dave Swift who was fantastic for whoever he played for-the versions of 'dancing in the street' and 'nowhere to run' were so well done IMHO. Would love his job! Overall I thought a really good show, far better than the Elton John O2 gig on t'other side.
3.
That's a bit pricey I think but that's only my opinion of course.. As a comparison, I bought a 1986 Aria Pro II RBS Special fretless on this forum for approx £120 earlier this year and that was an excellent bass, quite similar to the Yamaha you're looking at..
Hey, think that was my Aria! Glad you like it, a great fretless!
4. A lot of engineers prefer to use a seperate DI box - in case the bass amp stops functioning then they still have a signal to use out front. I have a BSS box which I've used for years,no probs.
5.
whats the difference between a sterling and a normal stingray??
Smaller lighter body, different switching options, thinner jazz style neck etc. Great basses!
6. My NYE gig for the past 10 years has been very WAG friendly. However, it is a job I'm going to do and therefore I regard it as a bonus to be allowed to take my girlfriend. If I was a waiter/barman etc don't think this would be seen as okay, especially if they were taking the place of a paying punter. We celebrate New year properly on the 1st anyway! Its my choice/decision, so no probs.
7. Also my wife pointed out David Van Day's mangina......! Eurrgh......
8. You could try RMJ speaker reconing in Leeds. www.recones.com Worth a go?
9. Could be a Custom Sound combo - they used speaker grilles like that. Or possibly Elvic, Mckenzie or even an RSC/Linear model. Reckon its probably mid/late 70's.....?

11. Great air drumming on the T.Rex clip!
12. Looked a bit Precision like to me? And don't you think he looked like Paul Whitehouse?..!!!

14. Great set list, but Katie Melua? Is it me but just don't get whats going on there.
15. Used D'Addario EXL 170's for over 10 years after trying most of the rest. Never had any probs whatsoever-just consistent quality strings that last really well.

17. Assuming you are playing the song in Eb, the missing note you are looking for is 'A'-this is the major 3rd of the F chord in that part of the tune. Hope this helps!

19. Welcome from an East Yorkie! This is a great site for so many things, enjoy!
20. Would be interested too..maybe a Sunday would be better for those who gig most Saturdays?
21. The question here really is whether an extra mid control is worth £150!! Possibly not? As Hamster states, you will probably be putting it through a graphic or other tone controls anyway! For what its worth, the secondhand values of Stingrays don't appear to be greatly affected by the 2/3 tone control options, so maybe thats the route to go down? Its a great time to buy at the moment too,so good luck.
22. I've always found the MM 3 band eq's are great - having the control for the mids is really useful IMHO, just tweak it a bit and the output/tone becomes more 'in your face' without turning round to fiddle with your amp. This is especially handy if you end up using an unfamiliar rig for some reason. My Stingray was a 3 band, now got a Sterling with same. Love them both! However, I used to have a pre ernie Stingray from the late 70's which was only 2 band (they all were then!) , and that also rocked. So my advice is try a couple and see which you like best - don't think you'll go far wrong with any Musicman bass. Their build quality and sound has remained high for decades.
