That's interesting - I've seen the Specials but a bit out of my price range TBH. If a s/h Stingray surfaced that was sub 8lbs I would be very tempted as have always loved MM stuff. I've had a fair few Rays over the years - a 78, 88, 94 and 2001 (IIRC) as well as a USA Sterling (which I mistakenly thought would be lighter!) and a couple of USA Subs. All fantastic basses too.

Great basses, had a couple. I only sold mine due to struggling with anything over about 7.5lbs on long gigs, which has unfortunately ruled out these and Stingrays for me. IMHO the white looks even better with a matt black MM scratch plate which ties in nicely with the headstock. ( Never a fan of the original tread plate one ).

Anyone know where I can get a screw (ooer!!) for front of SVT 3 Pro?

You could try www.westfieldfasteners.co.uk Usually stock a lot of stuff like this. -
They were reasonable to good quality, great value for money and (hopefully) benefitted the charity too, what’s not to like? 🙂
-
To be honest, nah....

I bought one, blue with a rosewood board. Did it really to help the charity but the bass turned out to be pretty good, especially for the price. Sold it on here ( I think) to a happy buyer. Haven’t seen any since for some reason, maybe people mainly kept them, like I should have done!

So if we're going off piste from the hits, Ry Cooder has done some beautiful stuff including his take on this -

Pretty sure you won't hurt the amplifier, it's the speakers that are prone to failure if 'abused' by bass guitar frequencies.

Loving the title ......👣

A Deville (especially in 4x10 mode) not a million miles away from a Fender Bassman combo, guitar amp originally designed for bass. I’ve gigged with a Marshall valve guitar head for bass. My bass head had died so had to use it, wasn’t too bad either. Conversely back in the day a lot of guitarists preferred Marshall bass amps to guitar models! Musicman used to make an amp (HD150 ?) suitable for both which had a valve power amp, sounded immense.

Good call. Whilst not being a massive fan of The Shadows stuff, Wonderful Land is (for me anyway) their best tune. Great chord progression and at just a tad over 2 mins long a perfect pop single of the time.

Also this classic -

Just beat me to it - the original and still the best. Staying with hits, I love this beauty -

Good to hear that, sounds like a decent bloke. A bit contrary to the old gag - ‘What’s the difference between a cow and the James Last Orchestra? The cow has the horns at the front and the c*nt at the back’.

Or if you lose your bottle opener.....

To be fair though, didn’t the good 80’s stuff decline during the decade? Most of your great list does still have a late 70’s feel to it ( except Green Onions, obv.) 😄

Whilst I agree with you in principal, you can’t get away from the fact that it’s usually the done thing to have a bass that is right for the gig, both sonically and visually. Maybe it would be fun to start a thread called ‘ Most inappropriate bass’ , or ‘This bass is at the wrong gig’ ? 😀

I’m liking that too. Not sure about 3 strings though, probably 1 or 2 more than needed on that beauty....🤣

Some good news and some bad for me, so I’ll start with the bad. A large hotel near me has closed it’s doors for good following the Covid outbreak. Whilst it was probably struggling before that, like many businesses on the edge it was enough to push them over. I’ve played at many functions and weddings there over the last 40+ years so very sad to see it go. It was also my only gig still booked for 2020 - I’ve played there every New Years Eve for some years with friends, so gutted that it’s ended. Am sure it won’t be the only casualty either. On a brighter note, I have a provisional gig booked for July with my acoustic duo. It’s an outside gig with appropriate social distancing, so looking forward to it. The only proviso is that the weather is good, if it rains then that will be my only remaining gig of the year down the plug hole. Fingers crossed. 🙂

Has anyone else really enjoyed NOT gigging during this period
casapete replied to police squad's topic in General Discussion
I've been missing gigging, which is my work! 28 gigs down so far, with no sign of anything improving for the rest of 2020. The first few weeks of the lockdown were a nice change for me, but as the time has gone on I'm getting more twitchy being at home. Practicing along with some stuff my band recorded on our gigs so as not to lose it and forget everything, but TBH I'm a live player really - it's all about doing gigs all over the UK and also the travel and camaradarie for me. -
Just measured the interior of my shaped G4M one. The dimensions are - Body cavity length (end pin to neck support) - 50cms Neck support length - 36cms Headstock cavity length - 33cms My Dano Longhorn is 30.5" scale length and fits in fine, but your Mustang may be a tad longer? Hope this helps.
