  1. Yeh I enjoyed it too. Obviously too much material to cover in more detail though which was a bit frustrating at times, but nevertheless very watchable.
  2. I started playing guitar at primary school, as well as having piano lessons from the age of about 7 when my folks realised I had ‘a good ear’ ( just the one ....) Secondary school didn’t help much really, with music lessons mainly to do with singing and also listening to classical stuff. We had a student teacher for a year who started a guitar class which was significant for me, and I still remember his Gibson J40 which he let me play! The only school bands were an orchestra ( which held no interest to me, especially as I’d been bollocked for playing a double bass with my fingers!) and a small brass band. Contrast that now with what goes on - a guy who was in my last band was head of music at a local secondary school, where they have a soul band, rock bands and a jazz ensemble, and also a recording studio set up!
  3. All the P-Lytes I’ve had have been very slim in the neck department. The funny thing is, prior to using this model I’d been playing my 60’s Precision and then a succession of Musicman Stingrays, all of which had much chunkier necks. I made the transition to the P-Lyte really easily, which given the radical playing difference was really surprising.
  4. Wow, what a belter! Love it, good work.
  5. The ‘Pro’ model seemed to appear in two versions. I believe both had the improved metal bridge and tuners but one had the dual concentric pots unlike mine which has a master vol, master tone and a 3 position pickup selector switch. As with most Longhorns, it sounds best with both pickups on, full vol and tone! Mine is a late 90’s model, made in Korea.
  6. This looks like it could be excellent. 3 part series starts tonight (4/9/20) at 9.30pm on BBC4. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000m7h1
  7. Great bass line and sound, not sure if it was JJ or not?
  8. My 90's blueburst is actually a 'Pro' model ( upgraded metal bridge / tuners etc) but like yours has truss adjustment at the body end of the neck. Again, historically inaccurate but makes it more user friendly IMO. Had a few Longhorns and they've all been great, just some more great than others. 😀
  9. Absolutely - this is one of my faves.
  10. Hope she manages okay, so hard when dealing with pets. Good luck.
  11. Am sure someone will dive in soon. Covid has meant it won’t be me though ☹️
  12. There are plenty of specialist Dano modders in the US, where they seem more receptive to the designs! Try www.danguitars.com for starters.
  13. £248 at Thomann now. Looking good!
  14. Great amp at a great price! If it wasn't for blo*dy Covid I'd have this off you Nik. GLWTS.
  15. I’m worried that it’s been so long since I’ve seen / used my GK rig that when /if I do it will disappoint me! GAS for me has taken a definite back seat since the start of the Covid period, and I’m tempted to use that as an excuse to sell what I have and ‘downsize’ / ‘thin the herd’ to release some dosh. Probably regret it though. 🤔
  16. Wow, must be a great friend Blue, and with such good taste in amplification too! An old friend of mine ( our friendship only goes back nearly 50 years!) called round a few years ago while I was out on the road and left me his lovely Fernandes 1950's style Strat0caster. It's in burgundy mist with a flamed maple neck, and when we played in bands together he'd remembered how I used to comment on it. A lovely gesture.
  17. Honestly? We finished the second set with it!! 🤣 (To be fair though this was a very pis*ed up audience, consisting mainly of office and works Xmas parties. We used to do up to 20 consecutive nights of these every December in a local hotel - those were the days.)
  18. Reminds me of a Christmas party gig we did years ago. Set the kit up, and left a CD player on with a 'Now that's what I call Christmas' type compilation on, which started with Slade's 'Merry Xmas everybody'. We left to get something to eat, and on our return I commented to our keyboard player what a coincidence it was that the CD was playing the Slade song again. Then it dawned on us it had accidentally been left on 'track repeat' , and the audience had been listening to Noddy Holder's classic over and over for nearly two hours. Can't believe nobody had manged to turn it off....🎅
  19. For a long time everyone always seemed to use 'The Nightfly' album by Donald Fagen. Although this only partly explains why I find it so painful...
  20. Wow, Steve and Billy! Can’t believe I missed that, two of my favourite players.
  21. I would guess that this has been a perennial problem for most people on here! One of my old bands suffered immensely from this - the drummer played so loudly that everything else struggled to keep up. I ended up having to wear earplugs as it was beginning to affect my hearing. Despite having a few words with him on many occasions, it remained problematic. The snare and cymbals are what did it for me. (In my current band the drummer has an electric kit, so no problems there.) I think what annoys me is that any one band member playing too loud does kind of dictate the stage levels of everyone, really selfish and inconsiderate.
  22. Wow, amazing to think that SW was around 14 then as well.
  23. You cantankerous Douglas? Never....😉
  24. Think I saw Sept 17th mentioned somewhere as the start date.
  25. Hey, what about the Dano Longhorn and funky Fender amps though? 😆
