  1. Fire brigade - The Move
  2. Saw The Ramones c1977 at Hull University. All songs were 3 mins maximum, no gaps in between them (or any audience interaction unsurprisingly) and after maybe 10 or 12 of them they were gone. If they did 40mins I’d have been amazed, but TBH that was more than enough for me. Fortunately I’d blagged tickets from the record company so didn’t feel shortchanged.
  3. Let’s groove tonight - EW&F
  4. Elvis Costello - My aim is true. Only around 28 mins I believe, but blew me away when I first heard it in 1977. Still sounds fantastic today too. Maybe worked so well because there was absolutely no filler?
  5. For me Bruce Springsteen has come up with some wonderful stuff - love this from 'The River'. But I remember us riding in my brother's car Her body tan and wet down at the reservoir At night on them banks I'd lie awake And pull her close just to feel each breath she'd take Now those memories come back to haunt me They haunt me like a curse Is a dream a lie if it don't come true Or is it something worse That sends me down to the river
  6. Working in a coal mine - Lee Dorsey
  7. New York New York - Frank Sinatra
  8. Can you feel the force - The Real Thing
  9. If you’re considering a Hohner B2 series bass, check out whether you can cope with it standing up using a strap. The inherent design of them makes the way it balances very odd ( for me anyway). The bass hangs in a position that makes the neck too far away and a stretch for the lower frets. I used to often miss notes by a fret or two, and found it so awkward that I ended up selling mine which was a shame as I loved everything else about it. Someone designed a strap button ‘extender’ that solved this on the original Steinberger models but I couldn’t find one when I had my Hohner - would have kept it if I had.
  10. In the Navy - Village People
  11. Seem to remember Ronnie Wood ( then Ron Wood and playing bass) got fired from the Jeff Beck Group and soon after reinstated, when a replacement couldn’t be found for a US tour.
  12. I’d have to agree with you - still got mine and it’s only been beaten by my SVT rig in ‘the best amp I’ve ever owned’ stakes.
  13. John Bentley of Squeeze
  14. Oh Atlanta -Little Feat
  15. Galaxy paradise - Stevie Wonder
  16. Satin doll - Duke Ellington
  17. Strangered in the night - Tom Petty
  18. Let's go round again - Average White Band
  19. Having a clear out and found this - it's apparently a 'standard' for DB. F.Simandl - 'New method for the double bass' Book 1. Looks quite an old edition ('4th enlarged and improved German' and English! ). Missing front cover but all 136 pages intact and in quite usable condition. Yours for the postage, couple of quid should cover it? Or collect from East Yorkshire. Cheers
  20. These arms of mine - Otis R.
  21. Proud Mary - Creedence Clearwater Revival
  22. Night Boat to Cairo - Madness
  23. Softly as I leave you - Matt Monro.
  24. I’m in chains - Tina Arena
  25. Cream - Wheels of fire * As a Clapton fan don’t know how I overlooked this. According to Wiki, it was also the world’s first platinum selling double album. For me it works, but only sometimes. I love White Room, Politician, Born under a bad sign and Crossroads, but avoid Spoonful and especially Toad (lengthy instrumental with drum solo!) * Full disclosure - one studio album and one live, tin hat at the ready....
