on the way...

and now it's here... blimey, what a monster-sized pedal. gave it a quick blast and swapped the no-brand 12ax out of it and put in an ehx 12at...sounds much nicer... does a gentle break-up nicely and has more drive than you could want. ok - back off upstairs to give it some more wellie
2. i started playing bass about 20 years ago, and started teaching myself guitar about 13 years ago when i realised that someone had to play guitar on my demos i play a bit of keyboards too. it all adds together...makes you a better musician...so it's a good thing right ?
Had a brief look inside, vitually everything is fixed to PCB. Planning on having a go at this sometime this month, when (if) I get some spare time. Anticipate having to replace pots, jacksockets, & switch etc. Will be putting mine in fairly decent sized box.... Cheers
thanks for the info...
I second you on that. Tried both, & I prefer the sound of the Behringer. And for the price, you can get at least five BDI21's! Tech 21 Blitzkreig cometh!! My next project,is to put one of mine in a more robust diecast box.
phew - i thought i might be the only one ! i was wondering about a better box...i've still got the casing from my exploded sansamp... have you had yours open yet ? i was wondering how big the board is and if the pots are wired straight to the board (which i suspect) or on flying leads ? if you've not opened yours up yet....i might tonight
6.
Got to say for all the really good practical design features on the bass it's got to be the most ugly J-clone I've ever seen...
plus the one...it's fugly

took mine down to band practice tonight... very impressed...playing through an ashdown mag 2x10. i set it pretty flat with the eg on the behringer and the amp flat, and pushed the drive control a bit. to my ears (dons flameproof suit) it sounded better to me that my old sansamp...i kid you not. i think it has less mid-cut. anyway...not the reason i bought it, but a very nice suprise...i'm considering the guitar model for recording now.
8.
Wire 'em all up in a loop, feed the output back into the input and see what happens
now this idea i like...

on the way...

i'm a sucker for mains valve pedals...going to bung a low gain eh valve in it...see how it goes.
10. unless the bass is going into van or the boot of a car i use a ritter gigbag...

i picked one up yesterday...and i'm very impressed. shame the distortion kicks in at such a low level, and the di is quiet, but for the price, it's a killer unit.
12. i've got a vi... but i'm still tempted by one of those...

thanks for the tips guys. i reckon i'll be picking one up over the weekend. i'm sure it won't be a patch on my ampeg pre, but it's sure going to sound better than a straight line to the desk.
14. i know that paul, the has one of these and is happy with it...anyone else tried one ? i'm going to be playing a radio session soon for a community radio station and will miss the sound of my ampeg pre-amp. i know the di level isn't up to much, i'm curious how noisy it'll be. my sansamp was taken out by an exploding electric mistress a while back and i've not got the funds to replace it.

*edit*

how did you get on ?
16. that kind of attitude says a lot more about the people expressing it than the actual role of a bass player in a band. if someone's coming out with stuff like that i think you can pretty well ignore their opinion.
17. it's a guilty secret isn't it ? ok...deep breath...i promise to tell the whole truth, etc. fender jazz fender p-j musicman sabre de armond starfire westone fretless 'no name' acoustic two half-built ebay jobs fender vi erm... /looks around room/ yep...i guess that's it.
18. i mean...what's the point ? how about a 200 string violin...
19.
I haven't seen one of those buggers for ages. Nor the flanger. Some of the best regarded Boss bass pedals I believe.
want to join in kicking me for selling it ?

*edit*

hmm...i reckon you should exchange it if you can... i got a small clone recently and i love it...no hiss. edit: although - about the pop...i do get a click the first time i turn it on, but not after that...if it starts to annoy me i'm opening it up and seeing if a pull-down resistor helps.
21. i've seen a few of them on ebay, and have kept my eye on them price wise... not been able to find that much out about them.
22. ahpook

Which do you use?

a few pedals in an old pedlabox on the floor do me...but the pedals aren't essential. i do without them if needs be... ...although maybe one overdrive
23.
Personally I don't think any of the 'scarring' looks natural, but then again unless you know where every scrape and ding on your bass has come from then it very rarely can.
hmmm - they don't...
