1. so is the speaker emulation on all the time with these pedals ? that strikes me as a bit stupid for something being marketed as a stompbox... anyway...i'd like to try one, but after being ultimately unhappy with the sabddi i'll not be rushing out and getting one.
2. well here it is... my new swr workingman's 2x12 loaded with 2 celestion 200W drivers, making it an unusual beast it would seem.. sounds great - i'm a happy bunny.. lovely and smooth-sounding...i can't wait to hear it at volume !!
3. wouldn't trust that at all... looks like it was made by ronco 'the perfect christmas gift'
4. talk to them, tell them how you feel. it's alway better to part company on good terms and i'm sure if you tell them why you fancy moving on they'll repect that. as for being in more than one band...play with as many people as you can if you have the time.
5.
Always use an RCD device when playing and always investigate any electric shocks no matter how small.
plus the one... if you're using any kind of mains electrical equipment outside and you're not using an RCD then you're...um...how should i put this...errr... very unwise
6. hmmm...thanks for the thoughts folks. i may grab myself a set or two and see how it goes.
7. having a browse on ebay i noticed that these seem to go quite cheap and they do a 40-100 set, which is what i usually get in elites. anyone tried the warwick sets ? any opinions ?

9.
I think The National Anthem by Radiohead is a good example of an "uninteresting" bassline being important to the song. It's drives the track along and loops over and over while it's everything else that does all the interesting stuff. 4 notes is all it is but anything else just wouldn't work. I'd rather listen to a good song than an average one with an interesting bass line.
damn fine choice as an example...part of the reason why the song works is that the bass just chromatic things whilst it al goes mad around it. to me it's a fantastic example of how powerful something that seems uncomplicated can be. lets forget it wasn't played by the bassist !!
10.
I cheated and searched for it, I didn't want to wait til tomorrow for pics. It looks a beast! Good buy!
ooh - i bet you search for you xmas presents too donhca ?
11.
sounds like a nice find, could be this
it's none of those...it's something special ! i paid £199 for it...hoping to pick it up tomoz. more details then...
12.
One of my bands songs isn't overly complicated but it's all about dynamics and ends on a massive crescendo. The bassline for it is just root notes because I've tried doing something more "interesting" but it doesn't work for the song. Although the ending has some nice droning/chord stuff that's pretty good.
my outlook exactly...if you're not playing for and with the piece of music, pack up and go home.
13. cat5 cable- nick it from work, pull it apart.... bish bosh as they say !!
14.
Yeah, I can understand that. How could you possibly write a part that would bore yourself?
well, the part itself doesn't have to be jaw-dropping, as long as it fits in with the tune.
15.
I'm happy to play a simple bassline where the song wouldn't hang together if I was showing off. (It also helps if I get plenty of opportunities to show off on other songs ).
i don't do showing off either what i'm saying is that as i get to decide what the bass is playing then by definition it's can't be dull...not cos i'm an amazing player, but cos if i have to play it i make it interesting (to me that is)
16. i don't do covers...if the bassline's dull to play it's my fault !!!
17. there's a certain style of music, let's call it style 'X'... i hate playing with bands who play this style...and it's not a dislike for the type of music per se...it's the poeple who make it. as a rule they're rude, self centred, never have the right equipment with them and expect people to bail them out. case in point...last gig one of my bands played...we were on the bill with three style 'X' bands...and one of their guitarists tunred up without a strap, a a cable and a distortion pedal. he went around aksing. i flat-out said 'no' as i've been in this situation before, lent stuff out and it's come back broken, without even a mention of it. as it happens our guitarist loaned out a cable and his distortion pedal. the pedal came back looking like it had been used to hammer in nails and the cable was ruined. so yeah - my gigging nemesis ? style 'X'.
18.
Im definatly all for 212's, they seem to be the perfect balance between size, weight and sound. Hope you enjoy it! Pics or it didnt happen and all that jamiroquai! (See what i did there!?)
i did indeed. the size and the weight sold it to me basically, more power handling than my ancient peavey 4x10 too ! pics will indeed follow...
19. well i tried it out at practise this afternoon and i'm just amazed. it sounds amazing - not one issue with loss of bass and the overdrive is thick and meaty. basically i'm running the overdrive fairly low and using the the boost function to dial in a much heavier sound. the various switching options give subtle, but noticable changes... i wish i'd splashed the cash ages ago tbh. can't wait to try it though my new cab !!!
20. ...yes i can ! just bagged off ebay - and SWR 2x12. just up the road from me too...i'm gonna see if i can pick it up tonight.
21. on the house insurance, although i should really get a proper set-up now that i'm playing live more...
22.
Buy a £40 four channel mixer like this one and plug your bass and cans (headphones) into that. You can also plug your PC/iPod in at the same time and jam along.
this is exactly what i'm thinking of at the moment - i'm tired of having to fire up my music pc if i just want to jam along to some recordings or just noodle on the bass. i was considering something like this but for a tenner extra you can get a cheap mxer...which has got to be more useful
23.
i hope they bring a four string version of this out as a stock standard.
plus the very large one !!
24. it's here /silly grin/ and it sounds fabby...more details when i've restrung and given it a proper try-out.
