PM'd I think I'll be having this one as it'll go nicely alongside my fretless Thumb BO Broadneck !! Also as far as I know these weren't custom orders, just weren't asked for that much so not many made. If you put in the serial numbers of this LX and my Thumb (F10742604) into the Warwick serial number checker (http://www.warwickba...current_site_id) there is no mention of either of them being a custom version. Also the article numbers, when put into google do come up with references to both the basses being broadnecked versions. Anyhow nice bass either way
In hindsight, you are probably right in that they were not custom orders as such, just less common that the standard neck width (Broadneck is the standard with SSI's)
Sweet board! Does that Philosopher bring lively crunch? I considered purchasing one a while ago but hesitated. Here's my latest attempt at an fxboard (I have a dualband comp in my amplifier):
Nice board, Marco! I have my Darkglass trio now (Vintage Deluxe Limited Edition has finally arrived) and will post up my board shortly.
It's turning into a sort of discussion about HPW's skills and know-how... certainly out of topic and not very interesting for me The bass is still available, though. Several offers but it's still here.
I agree and apologise for derailing, I should know better If I don't end up being the buyer, GLWTS!

Okay, he certainly built early Warwicks bud, why do you think otherwise, out of interest? Perhaps a conversation for a different thread, but I am curious Hope John doesn't mind, but here is an extract of email sent to him from Hans about Thumb 6 #27...
As I said, no chance Hans Wilfer had something to do with the build of this bass. He's a businessman, not a luthier by any means. But yeah, I think this is a nice collectors item (and of course a very nice sounding and playing instrument).
Not true, that one. It is quite possible he was involved in making this. He built the other 88 thumb 6 that was sold on here a while ago, had an email from the man himself saying so

Another pedal I have literally just picked up, however my Darkglass pedals give me the drive sounds I need and, as amazing as this is, it is overkill for me! You know what this is, guys on Talkbass love it and rave about its versatility. Basically the swiss army knife of drive pedals. Two drive circuits, bass signal is split depending on the frequency set with the crossover control, so allows you to distort the low and high end completely separately. Almost any drive sound can be emulated with this thing, including Darkglass B3K/B7K sounds and wonderful valve type overdrive. http://youtu.be/xItfn5_gxr4 In mint condition and comes with box, manual and some setting examples. He is only selling these direct at the moment AFAIK, you are looking at $299.99 plus ~$30 shipping and another $70-$80 in customs fees, however I am only looking for the bargainous price I paid, £180 shipped in the UK.

The Atic comment stopped me from making a bid and taking a road trip. Could have a neck like a banana. Great price if it is in playable condition though!
Ever since you said about the mismatch/colour differences between the body wings on my stage 2, ive noticed it - gave it a good wax and clean yesterday and it isnt as obvious but I think you are actually right now, they arent properly matched. Still sounds huge, and it will sound even better with an OBP-3 installed
To be honest, it is nice to see an SSII with a good bit of figuring! I find Afzelia a little dull normally, your bass is a treat

Quarter Round Strings - anyone tried these ones?
Kev replied to andydye's topic in Accessories and Misc
I really like the quarterround strings! Great first step away from roundwounds
