1. these are pretty amazing basses, and an amazing price
2.
So buy a headless status. Job done.

Every bass I have ever tried has head dive to some small degree or more, except my Sei headless.
Seeing as gigs are starting to pick up and I finally have a job that pays it has crossed my mind a few times to get a headless/really really good bass. not sure the GF would agree though
3.
I have no such problem with my SR1206. Which version do you have?
I got the most recent one, the bass sits fine but I notice over time that it slips slightly and I have to re-adjust regularly. It could be that I wear my basses very high and so need the neck to be pointing at a 45 degree angle. Its small complaint about an otherwise great bass
4. i bought an ibanez SR1206 and while i is great instruemnt (great sound, great feel, great looks) it has some bias towards the headstock. I read a review of a 6 string Dingwall and it has similar (but slight) balance issues, is this standard with 6 string basses? Is there any way to solve the problem? TBH its not serious, its just that its the only thing that bothers me about the bass. L
5. My band is playing a wedding in Ireland in a couple of months and for the sake of cost and space we're going to hire a PA locally. The wedding is near a place called Belcoo in Fermanagh (Northern Ireland), does anyone know of a reputable hire company around that sort of area? thanks L
6. as far as the band is concerned we're all conscientious players so no volume wars going on. we're a 4 piece (drums, bass, 2 guitars and 2 vocals). In terms of venues I reckon it'll be the standard mix of marquees, church halls, pubs and drawing rooms of stately homes. Our agent has said they can help us source a decent second-hand PA so will definately speak to them at some point. Upgrading is definately the intention. If you get active speakers can you then plug in a mixing desk (sorry if this is a silly question, not a techy guy )?
7. hello there My covers band has recently got an agent who has given us 4 gigs in about as many days (woohoo!) but we're all still pretty skint and inexperienced in the big bad world of functions (drummer and me have done about 100 between us but those have always 'turn up, play, go home' affairs). So on to my question, we really need a PA of our own and I want to know what exactly do we need, what can we get away without for the time being (our budget is £1000 but ideally less). I've looked into a few bundles on DV247 for ideas, do we desperately need a huge sub-woofer right now? or will two decent tops do until we can afford something better? Can we get away with one monitor (or none?!) help!! Lewis PS I know the ideal would be two tops, two subs, 4 monitors, big digital mixer, a bazillion drum mics and DIs with more buttons and switches than the Deathstar etc but we're currently on a shoestring budget
8. he kindly helped to clear some space under my desk, paid promptly (only would've been quicker if I'd answered sooner!) all in all a nice guy to deal with Lewis
9.
The line, "I've never seen such a large instrument played by such a small chap" was interesting to say the least
How tall are you btw? coz I'm pretty short too (like 5'7") and have my eye on a sound gear 6 string but after reading this thread I'm not so sure hope you heal up soon, was just watching your vids, it'd be a shame for there to be no more of that live dubstep in the world
10. this way better than the single! I did this once for a wedding and we just played it as written (so to speak)... sounded s**t, thats one wedding ruined
11.

lovin the groove on that! btw is your singer have a wee FB nosey?
12. one slightly less mental joni mitchell (it actually has a chorus ) i'm the mush at the bottom of the frequency spectrum http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJ3oQJPwrpA
13. interesting points, inspired me to play it for the first time in a while and it is quite fun, I'm not desperate for money so I won't be selling it (yet!) Having said that the career path I'm going down is more towards the pop covers side of things so I'm working on my backing vocals and playing at the same time (nightmare!) on the subject of bad doublers I know what you mean about double bass players on the bass guitar, my teacher was a great double bassist but I saw him playing a gig on electric and he looked like he'd only just picked it up but then if you know your limits and you play for the song is that still "bad" playing? (there's probably a post or two on that subject ) i did a couple of folky tunes on double bass and i think i did alright
14. So I've had an electric upright bass for about a year, for the first few months i played quite a bit, I've done a few gigs with double bass (both this one and borrowed) but I haven't touched it since november and before that I hadn't serisouly played it since august so I'm wondering if there's any point keeping it as I don't feel much enthusiasm for the instrument (as a player at least) should electric bassists be required to also play double bass? it would seem only fair as guitarists, double bassists, drummers and keys players all seem quite happy picking up the bass guitar and nabbing our gigs . point is, is it better to focus on one instrument and know it inside out or double up? any thoughts?

16. all the stuff is taken, will PM if anything becomes available again
17. I have 5 guitar stands (4 of the usual and one of the mini hercules ones for acoustic guitars, also works for mandolin) I'm needing rid of. I'm happy for them to go for free, providing buys covers postage (but if you would like to make a donation that would acceptable ) I also have a madarozzo gig bag, its seen a fair bit of use but still does what it should. as I got it with a new bass I'll give it away, buyer covers postage who doesn't like free stuff????

25.
I don't think many people are getting rich building high-end instruments. My brother is a luthier, building classical guitars at 3k to 3.5k a time. The business is ticking over nicely, but he doesn't have a particularly lavish lifestyle and probably works longer and takes home less than your average skilled worker. While there are fewer man-hours in most electric basses, I suspect the smaller bass outfits operate in a similar way. I think we're just not used to paying developed-country wages for manufactured goods any more.
I read an article recently about Pete Skjold, and he said that he does what he does for the love of building, not because he makes lots of money, and said that the profit margin isn't as high as most people think. You might have a point with Fodera though, their price list is more likely that of a car showroom than a luthier.
