  1. I'm driving from Bourne, so will be driving through Grantham on my way up to the A52. Genuinely more than happy to give you a lift.

You've all seen and played the mk1 fretless, and the dolphin, but I got a mk2 5er just before the prices went silly. Some PJB stuff too. Might bring the double bass .. how big is the room? @PTB: MTD 535, Limelight Pino replica, possibly a MusicMan, MarkBass combo, HX XL & extension leads 😎 Darran: Nice Ibanez and the Aria Sinsonido silent bass. Ashdown amp if there's space in the car. @floFC: curiosity @Oldman: contemplating bringing my custom Fretless 5! I’ll bring my GR CAB and EVO 1 Head. @SimBass: Sandberg California II TM 5, Eminence Small bodied double bass, EBS Stanley Clarke Preamp pedal, GRBass One 800, Barefaced Super Compact, Barefaced One10 For those of us who haven't been to a Bassbash before, I was wondering if someone could explain some of the 'logistic' (and maybe add them to the opening post to easily find). Is there a start/end time, what's the deal with cakes (I like cakes), how does the raffle work, I think someone mentioned £10 (is the confirmed or dependant on numbers?) Cheers
  3. On a similar note (of 'other gear'). @NickA I would be very curious to hear a 'real' double bass side by side with my Eminence, I've never done a real comparison Gear I'm not planning to bring but could throw in if anyone was particularly interested: Barefaced One10 Sire P7 v2 (5 String) Custom 2x10 cab (currently for sale in the market place)
  4. EDIT: 25th April - Priced dropped to £75. This is a great sounding cab which is sat here taking up space. I understand it won't get 'a lot of money' since it's DIY but I got loads of great feedback from the Midlands Bass Bash I took it to last week and so would love for this to actually be of use to someone. If you want to make me an offer and can pick it up (or let me know where you are for a meeting up) then let me know. Original Ad: 600w 8ohm, 2x10" cab loaded with Eminence Drivers (can bring to the Midlands Bass bash on 22nd of April in Nottingham if anyone wants to try it out) I built this cab whilst at university when I wanted a high powered, high performance cab but didn't have the money to spend on a branded one, I spent around £350 on materials and ended up with a cab worth double that if I'd bought an equivelent new. It's a fully sealed high quality ply tank, with all the bracing and acoustic wadding required to make this sort of sealed cab really punch. The Drivers are Eminence Gamma-10a drivers (each being 16ohm 300w), and I spent as many hours designing the cab and dimensions specifically for these drivers with my techie university mind etc. as I did building it. I've gigged it hundreds of times and it always impresses. I love the cab but now I'm now lucky enough to be able to afford lighter weight gear and it just isn't getting used. Today, you'll need about £700+ for a new 2x10" cab which can handle 600w+ watts. The only down side, the weight, this bad boy weighs 27kg, hence the castors. Don't get me wrong, if you have the money then go and buy some super light, high end gear, but if (like I was) you want a high power, serisouly good sounding cab, but don't yet have the funds, then this could be the perfect cab for you. As with any DIY cabs, I recommend you try this cab and so feel free to come and give it a go (I'm 20mins from the A1 in South Lincolnshire). I'm also more than happy to bring this along to the Midlands Bass bash on 22nd of April in Nottingham. I know people will have doubts about DIY cabs but this cab is way too good to be sat doing nothing so I'm hoping for £100 someone can get an absolute bargain. Spec: Power: 600 w Impedance: 8ohm Inputs: 1 Jack socket, 1 Speakon socket Dimensions: 69cm, 32cm, 44cm(49 with castors) Drivers: Eminence Gamma-10a drivers - 16ohm 300w Weight: 27kg Handels: Spring loaded x2 Hardware: Heavy duty castors (2 with brakes) black metal corner protectors Any questions let me know

  6. Having lurked on this thread for a while I wanted to add my recent experience as thanks to this knowledge and help for others. I was previously in a band which was full in ears, silent stage, Yamaha mix app on your phone to manage everything and loved it. My main gig is now in a 17 piece Big Band. I sit between the Drummer, the guitar amp and 4 trombones and was concerned I was damaging my ears. Since I'm doubling on Bass Guitar and Double Bass, having enough volume to stay in tune was also becoming an issue. I tried lots of ear plugs (they all muffle the bottom end no matter how flat or "perfect for musicians" they claim to be). So following advice here I got a second hand Zoom H6 and it has been a game changer! My amp volume is lower (correct volume) since I can now hear myself. And the stereo mics on the H6 pick up the whole band way better than expected including speech from the band leader at the other end of the room during rehearsal. I mount it on my tablet stand and angle it away from my amp and drums and send my DI-out to one of the inputs. I plan to experiment with a monitor signal from the PA desk which only has solos, vocals and keys, but should add even more clarity. I already had a pair of Shure 425 which give me a great isolating fit so my ears are protected, I can hear my bass clearer (without deafening everyone else) and all for the cost of a second hand Zoom H6. (Used in multiple rehearsals and 1 gig so far) It hadn't occurred to me that I could run an IEM system for my self in a non mic-ed up big band, so thank you for all the great information in this thread. Feel free to give you selves a pat on the back or ask any questions if you trying to do something similar
  7. I can confirm that my Tuner out is only active when the pedal is muted as per the manual. The mute button is effectively toggling whether the output goes to amp-out/DI/Headphone OR tuner-out (according to the circuit diagrom the Effects Send is the only output not effected by the mute button).
  8. Just to chime in for any android users (since the main apps for managing charts are apple only) I use 2 app: For chord charts I use "setlist helper" (equivalent to OnSong and uses the same chordpro format to allow sharing and has a nice screen scrapping feature). The main use for me is the ability to change key on the fly in a band where you play with a large set list and lots of different singers who can't sing in the same key (church!) but also useful for function band dep'ing if you haven't learnt the full set. Great app, keeps being developed and cheap one off payment (pro only required for transpose and a couple of other features.) The other app I use is Orpheus, I play in a 'Big Band' and need to have 200+ fully notated music charts available (with lots of scribbled annotations) so this manages those PDFs for me and syncs directly with Dropbox. I would love to use ForScore but won't be paying for a 12" iPad just for the use of 1 app when I don't have any other apple products. It's a great app with a small annual fee (cheaper than ForScore), developed by 1 person in Australia who helped me quickly sort out the one bug I had. Also really useful if you dep for a band (e.g. Big Bands in my case) which have fully written charts, since you only need to dump the pdfs on Dropbox and they sync straight through. The only disadvantage to ForScore is it doesn't have the "Jump to" function for D.S. / D.C and other repeats but that's not big deal. I hope that's useful, took me a while to settle on these apps for Android (I also use iReal Pro....great app for Jam sessions!)
  9. A bit late to this post but just want to point you in the direction of my Sandberg customer service experience. Admittedly 4 years ago but the fix they did for me has lasted the test of time and this California TMII 5 is still my main bass and favourite I've ever owned. https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/329476-credit-where-credit-is-due-sandberg-customer-service-experience/
  10. How do you mix the levels of the monitor mix and the bass? Do you have to set the volume of the aux from the mixing desk (and hope it's good for the whole gig)? Or do you have some sort of inline volume control with you on stage?
  11. Great guy! Great communication, came and collected my MarkBass Tube 800 from my house, very polite, great chats. Happy to recommend. Cheers!
  12. Fantastic amp with lots of power, modelling, and FX. Barely used (I’m as bassist who thought about guitar and quickly reconsidered!) It has never left the home and is in excellent condition. Pick up only from South Lincolnshire. Feel free to come and try it out. Full Spec: https://www.boss.info/uk/products/katana-100/
  13. ----------ON HOLD PENDING-------- For Sale: £430 Delivered (Or come and pick it up from South Lincolnshire for £25 off?) Really great amp with loads of power and really flexible inputs (great for doubling bass/double bass), phantom power with a tube preamp which can be blended in. Excellent condition, always transported in the aluminium case with custom foam cut outs which is included in the sale. The aluminium case is scuffed but will be great for delivering (feel free to continue using). The amp itself is in excellent condition with just a few superficial paint scuffs on the top of the amp which can be seen in the photos. I did have the rack ears (although couldn’t find them) so let me know if you’re interested in them and I’ll try to dig them out, you are more than welcome to them too if I can find them. Any questions, let me know Full tech spec is here: https://www.markbass.it/product/little-mark-tube-800/ Overview of Key Info: 800w through 4 Ohm -(500w through 8 Ohm) Markbass amp with 2 inputs (separate gain control) 1st input is standard Jack 2nd input is Jack/XLR combo with phantom power for mics/pickups (I've used for both Double bass and Cello) Tube preamp All the normal Markbass EQ and filters Mute push/pull on master volume
  14. Got it. I hadn't considered using the aux and headphone in a live setting, but that makes perfect sense. Thanks!
  15. Thanks @jrixn1sounds good, (and very similar to the types of gigs I'm doing). I'm currently running my DB through a fishman preamp and would really miss the tuner but it is, at least, very easily resolvable. Can you just confirm what you mean by "monitor feed input and IEM output both go via the EBS", I can't get my head around how/why the monitor feed would go via the EBS?
  16. Anyone able to report back with "tried and tested gig experience" with this. I'm doing lots of Big Band doubling gigs at the moment and this would be ideal. So anyone using it for but both upright and electric would be especially appreciated
  17. I didn't get mine "setup" in the end. I adjusted the bridge which was way too low and it sounded and played loads better. Then, exactly as you said, I now put it through a Fishman Platinum acoustic preamp and it absolutely sings. I decided to play it for a bit before paying for a set up but I honestly don't feel the need for the time being
  18. Reduced from £375 to £325 now £300! I've really enjoyed learning on this instrument and I'm only selling due to upgrading to an Eminence small chamber upright bass. Great instrument, active electronics means it sounds surprisingly similar to an acoustic bass compared to some of the other stick basses (but obviously don't expect miracles). Prospective buyers are more than welcome to try it out (or come for a demo if you don't already play upright). Pick up from Bourne, South Lincolnshire also will to meet part way if appropriate (please not the stand is not included as it is the one I use for my current upright) Standard Specs: Stagg HDB-200 Scale Length: 41.25" 1/4" Output Jack 1/8" MP3 Input 1/8" Headphone Input Volume Control Sub Bass Control height adjustable bridge Includes Stagg gig Bag body and shoulder rests bow spare strings [STAND NOT INCLUDED]
  19. Thanks all for the feedback, really appreciated. I think I'll adjust the bridge height to my preference and go from there. Fingerboard is definitely "used" but not damaged so good to know it's a workable piece of ebony if required. @DanOwens I know what you mean they don't come up much. I actually found this one on Facebook Marketplace of all places. 15mins down the road from my house which is in the middle of the countryside!
  20. I've got the opportunity to buy an Eminence, small bodied, fixed neck upright from someone who is selling one locally. I've just been to try it out and the bass looks great, is in great condition, and sounds really good but from my limited experience of playing double bass (mainly of my Stagg EUB) the action was REALLY low and it didn't feel like I could get the same "pull" on the string for pizz jazz which is what I'll be using it for. Whilst it looked and sounded better than my cheap stagg...it certainly wasn't as "wow" as I expected? But it had the distinct impression that it had the ability to be that? To the point of my post: If I were to buy it, does anyone know if there is any benefit in getting a professional double bass setup done for this small bodied bass as you might for a "real" double bass? The adjustable bridge means I could definitely raise the string but I'm not sure if that's all it needs. Does an Eminence have a sound post which may need adjusting? (I forgot to look) Any feedback from Eminence owners would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  21. Quite a bit of interest, but no one has pulled the trigger yet. I've got a pretty slim trade list, so unfortunately body parts won't suffice
  22. As per the updated title, after a couple of requests I've looked into shipping details, and should be able to ship these to UK mainland addresses for £15 each so message me if you're interested
  23. Just bought a Barefaced cab from Andy, great guy, great communication, gear in great condition and had a lovely chat. Top chap, Thank you!
  24. Bergantino HT112ER and EX112XR with covers £550 for the pair EDIT 28th Jan: UPS shipping to uk mainland available for £15 per cab, pm me if you're interested in these being shipped EDIT 16th Jan: Now £500 for the pair Would still prefer to sell as a pair for £500 or £300 each. I would consider trades of Barefaced cabs or try your luck with something else? Phenomenal sounding cabs. I’ve been using them with my Little Mark Tube 800 and they are big, loud, clear and deep without being boxy. Just amazing cabs. I bought them second hand pre lockdown and have since gone with a super light Barefaced rig so no longer require these, although at <20kg each these aren’t the heaviest cabs you have come across. I’ve used them for some rehearsals on electric and EUB but no gigs. In top notch condition with the exception of the one pictured scuff on the top rear edge of the HT112ER I’m not really interested in trades since this is to go towards paying for my barefaced cabs. I’m located in Bourne, South Lincolnshire, you’re welcome to try and happy to meet within a reasonable distance. Don’t really want to ship them but if someone really wants to arrange a courier then I’m happy for that at the buyer's cost. Any questions, let me know. Details: HT112ER: Weight: 19.8kg 12” Front ported cab with adjustable tweeter Width: 47cm Depth: 38cm Height: 40cm 350w at 8ohm EX112XR As above but no tweeter and weighing 19.2kg
