Advice on paying for a trip to NY
OldGit replied to Happy Jack's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Proably a few bargains in Detroit right now ... Other than that I suspect you have to pay virtaully the same for a vintage Fender in New York shop as you would here. I did manage this trick with saxophones once (Selmer S80 out, King silversonic super 20 back if anyone was wondering) but it was really hard to sell the Selmer as I didn't have an address in the US and they are very wary of advertising or buying anything dodgy, and I happened upon the King by accident and not in a shop. And it was before my mate had invented the World Wide Web.... -
"Man thrown off train over set list" A musician has spoken of his shock at being removed from a train for "behaving suspiciously" by writing a list of songs which included the band name The Killers....... Going to ask the bride what she wants as soon as we can get a hold of her Chris
Sounds like a fun night in prospect I assume no traditional family members are invited

Live shots are at least One Brazillian times better than staged studio shots.. IMHO..
How about the brushes? FWIW I played tuba for several years in a military band (boys brigade) so if I still had one your suggestion would be fulfilled!
Ha ha how did I know that? -
My self-conscious side doesn't want me to look a complete pillock by obviously not knowing which way up to hold the bass.
haha Don't worry about it. We'll show you. Bring your own mouthpiece though. -
Another "play 'til I drop" here too... Must say I've turned down a few auditions after finding out how old the band are. There's no way I want to look like the creepy old uncle helping out 'til they find a kid to do the job ... That's Ok though 'cos they'd probably be too young ("dumb and full of *****") to play in my band too... Hey Nineteen That's 'Retha Franklin She don't remember The Queen of Soul
I'm very tempted as Warwick is only 35 min up the M40, but as a complete novice bass player I'm just a weenie bit nervous.
We'll be gentle -

I'm still stumped as why you'd want that a wedding tho I'm looking forward to playing. Hopefully we'll get some more Ska/Punk rocker weddings to do out of it if we play well! Chris
is that the whole set?
Again, thanks for the suggestions. I looked at a Quiklok mixer stand today that was perfect - right height and everything, and I can buy it at trade price. I don't want to swap my gear, as I'm really happy with the sound. The in-ear monitor option looks tempting. I'll talk to our engineer about it...he's a sound guy. <pun intended>
Let us know how you get on Pete.
Bloody nora! Wouldnt risk that with my rig, unless the stands resembled the Eiffel Tower, which would in itself possibly cause some other issues....
Yeah but if all you need is a head high stage monitor it's an option. Afterall the tripods are designed for heavy ol' PA top cabs.

40 minutes to go! 74RI Jazz in Manchester
Here's another "Jass Bass". That's a store claiming to be one or Europe's top Fender shifters ... -
40 minutes to go! 74RI Jazz in Manchester
OldGit replied to girya32's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Oh I think it and he or she is genuine. I think it's one of the 62 RI's they did with the 50 year badge on the headstock rear around 96 as per the advert info. Certainly that sunburst, mid red tort plate, rosewood with dots fingerboard and headstock decals all look like 62 RI to me. I've seen a bunch of 62 RI P basses from that year with no rear strap peg. European export models of course. Anyway as I said she or he is up for an offer by ebay PM if anyone fancies going for it. -
When I bought my PA tripods they came with some top hat sockets that could be screwed onto cabs. or you could make a platform to put your cab on with a top hat socket attached. Luggage strap it all together for stability and you are sorted.

Not a 62. There's no rear of headstock strap peg. The s/n ties in with the story as it's a 96. She/He is open to offers before relisting. use Ebay Pm system and see... I'd suggest this is well worth £300 but missed out this time because she can't spell Jazz. Probably a very good time to grab it for £275 if you make an offer now. -

Precision has to be worth £100+, the other 2 both have Fendery headstocks so would make good projects
Just a word of caution. I think that these three for £200 is pretty good but that is not a Rondo style SX, it's one of the UK import ones. You can tell because it has 21 frets. IME they are not as good and they are not the SX's of Talkbass legend. It's probably worth about £75 rather than £100 so not the bargain it may appear.

Looks like a 62 RI to me... I'd want a pic of the serial number before taking it further.
