3.
Nah, there's more to Jeff than just noodles, Tim Bogert, McCartney, Jack Bruce, Entwistle, etc... they've all had an influence on him, I think old Jack is his biggest "rock" bass hero.
yeah but Jack Bruce is a jazzer really
 4.
Who would you rather have a pint with though ?
Kylie
 5.
Is it not that very quality that separates the greats from the masses...? No nonsense single mindedness .....
Are you saying BigBeefCheif is a great? I guess it works for Mr Berlin...
 6. Seems very dismissive of anything that isn't what he likes
 7. ha ha you know you want to, just to see if it sounds THAT good in a band scenario ....
 8. If I was the buyer and you asked for a Western Union transfer I'd not do the deal. Way too easy for the "seller" to dissapear. I'd suggest using Paypal and either accepting the costs as payment for the security or ask the buyer to pay them and risk loosing the sale.

 10.
You seem like a sound chap ..so I'll take your word for it....life is too short....etc Anyways ..many is the time when I too have engaged mouth before brain..so who am I to judge??
Yeah me too, as a few on here can attest ..
 11.
Yes I think I'll do just that.
He's quite fun when you get to know him Your choice though ..
 12.
I reckon its the colour of the strings that you are reacting to. The harmonies during the opening are diatonic and the voicings are in unison. The fact is that the tone/timbre of something can have a massive effect on its emotional content. If it sounds beautiful, it is beautiful.
Yes, quite possibly. Cello's always get to me too ...
 13.
I don't let the local availability of a particular cab bother me when I'm looking for a cab, a bass, or an amp, and am therefore interested in hearing the results of a shootout between various cabs regardless of availability or otherwise... (personally speaking of course)
Fair enough ... I like to dream too .. I even watch Top Gear
 14. Wedding in very posh Hotel and Golf place in wilts. Long long email exchanges with teh bride an groome including the promise of an imported stage, with mini stonehenge and knobs that go up to 11 .. They've seen us before so we had a lot of fun emails getting teh details right .. Food was first which was weird, so we got in at 5 and setup ready to be quiet for the food at 7.30. Upstairs over a outdoor balcony to get in, 4 hotel staff lighting paitio heaters whilst the sun beat down and teh tempreture sored to, oh well I don't know, some hot tempreture .. global warming anyone? Professional temporary stage about a foot high - perfect, big and stable. It even had a nice frilly black curtain to hide its unders When we started sound checking I noticed the room had exceptional clarity of sound - weird for what was essentially a stone barn roof... Each instrument, drum, vocal etc was very clear and distict. There was very little mashing together .. odd .. and the stage was really bassy .. I may have to get an Gramma pad if we go back there .. B&G were great, it was well organised and the food included inch thick bacon butties and hand carved chips - excellent! Mind you the coke was £2.50 a glass, glad we werent buying All in all a fine gig with lots of very nice comments afterwards.
 15.
Bloody drummers...... Think I'd put up with drum machine sounds actually!
... and you only have to punch the instructions in once .....
 16.
I dont know who the f*** else he thought I was referring to. Doh.
Steady on Ferret ol' chap, he's new, and it wasn't eactly clear matey ..
 17.
Preferences : WW Streamer / Spectors MTDs Sei Flamboyant. And of course, my single cut. It looks great and not too 'single cut'.
Looks nice, What is it?
 18.
I have to disagree. I know we dont care about what they think normally but both my guitarist and singer also noticed the difference. The stage sound was very empty, you could almost hear a fart ripping on stage at some points, nothing like how it normally sounds with an acoustic drum kit. I agree about the audience. In fact we all thought that for the disco/dance songs an electronic bass drum sounded much better and it did seem to help give us a better groove.
oh alright Dave, ... I agree. The rest of our band noticed something was different that night, mostly the space on stage, ease of setup and drummer not moaning about his back and all the gear he has to carry .. so that's 6 people ................... And .. the next day we all had better hearing after not being 2 feet from a (real) crash cymbal for 3 hours, another positive thing ... You know after all of this I may suggest we play the next few gigs with the V drums .. specially as our man at the front has tinnitus right now and is struggling a bit to protect his ears ...
 19.
99% of the audience wouldn't notice if the bass player was miming to a prerecorded track, either. Why don't we all do that, then? It saves buying expensive amps, in-ear monitors and new strings...
Ha ha yeah I know Actually I think programmed synth bass and real drums can sound good and programmed synth drums and real bass but not synth bass and synth drums (say on pop crap) together. I think things need the slight varience in timing that humans add. A real drummer playing a V kit is a different thing to a producer playing drums on a keyboard (or however they do it in a studio these days) as you can put feel and stuff into it (on the good kits anyway) and, of course, a real drummer still has the nuances of timing and stroke variation we all know and love that make real drumming so great. With your big PA gigs the Drums are mostly processed through mics and EQ and speakers anyway so they are not really "acoustic" for most of the audience ..
 20.
That song would sound so much better with a real kit for a backbone. IMO. Just sayin'.
Sure, on a recording ... I like both on recordings, and together - Phil Collins for example The Op is talking about playing live .. Live I think only two people in the room are going to notice - you and the drummer .. three if you count the sound person ... 99% of the audience certainly won't.
 21.
There is no soul in an electric drum kit.
Apart from the our soul behind it ha ha Sorry
 22. +1 on the V drums . However your PA and especially monitoring has to be able to cope. It also takes a bit of getting used to seeing the movement (snare and B D hits) where it always is but having the sound come out of the FoH and monitors ... When our guy brings his rather than his acoustic set, it takes a few numbers to get used to it then it's perfectly fine. + you can turn it down
 23.
Unfortunately, due to an issue with the top, we've elected to respray it. Another couple of weeks I imagine... Mark
Wood eh? So rebelliously unpredictable ..... A couple of extra weeks will pale to insignificance in a years time .. Every time I strap on my wonderful Shukers the whole long wait thing (and the extra months) is the very last thing I think about Keep the faith!
