1.
Dammit! every gig box should contain one of these.... OG, I've seen the light........ many thanks
ha ha you'd be surpised how often a Clangers soup dragon bit features in our show
 2.
I think I need a bertie and a set of those screwies
Ha ha Bertie was a limited edition. We have two, in case one gets injured ... He is frequently kidnapped at gigs by kids and young women ... The screwdriver set is available from Muji for about £6 .. http://www.muji.eu/pages/online.asp?V=1&am...D=701&CHK=Y I bought about 10 sets one Christmas and gave them to everyone They are magnetic, precision engineered and tough as old boots. The handle goes on straight or as an L handle for more power. Sheer Japanese brilliance and a essential bit of kit for onstage when you need to screw your strap pegs back in mid tune or change a battery or tighten a mic lead plug end screw, stab your guitarist etc ... Comprehensive, well yeah .. I forgot the kazoos (if it's good enough for Jimi Hendrix it's good enough for me, of course I play a right handed one) http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=U0aMB_hnoIc I play quite a lot of stuff in our band, various pipes, (sax too sometimes), percussion, sonic jokes, mucking about etc, and over the 40 or so years I've been gigging I've met all sorts of challenges to keep the show on the road. When you are playing someone's wedding 100 miles from home a blown fuse (oh, forgot to mention those) or broken lead lead or a dry solder joint should not be enough to stop you playing... Of course then there's the mic and radio mics box and stands, the rack with head, wireless, foot pedals and all its cables and stuff, the double gig bag with all the bass (guitar) maintenance stuff, the upright stick bass and its bits an pieces, the foot pedals case with loads more batteries, the stage lights box, the sax mic, stand and reflector, the powered monitor and all its cables, the stage clothes, guitar stands ... hummmmmmm Next time it will be a chromatic harmonica and bullet mic ....
 3.
I always wondered why left handed instruments existed... after all, both hands are doing lots of stuff. On reflection, I think I've concluded that your picking hand is actually doing the *hard* work. If you go for a right handed bass, you just might be crippling your playing from the start or at least making it harder than it could be. You don't need a big selection of basses... you only need one! Ultimately, it may mean you have to special order something and wait rather than grab it off the rack and it might cost you a bit more, but it's only money
There's loads of players on here who are sinister but play right handed .. Some big name players do too. Leeroy: Re your poor broken finger tip; Don't worry, you can actually play bass effectively with three fingers on your fretting hand. You will just develop your own technique.
 4.
Think about trying a violin bass (either a genuine German Hofner, or a Hofner-made Chinese one, or one of the many cheap copies). Once you take off the pick-guard, it looks the same played either R/H or L/H except that the controls may be on the "wrong" side. You could then try playing the same bass both ways, and decide which you prefer.
And work for ever in a Beatles tribute band! Genius!
 5.
contact the nice lady at this place..... http://www.dizzydaisies.co.uk/ Keep it sensible and she'll do you proud....!
Hey will you look at that! That's my mate Sarah, that is.. She did my fine Shuker custom polo shirt. Pictures of my two Shuker basses, "Life is full of difficult choices: Shuker Bass" She'll do virtually anything you can think up for a very reasonable price Oh and I've got an Ashdown VU meter T (much better than their ABM amps, in my experience) a Fender Precision "tools of the trade" one cos I like Precisions and they were cheap at a show, and a BassDirect polo. I'm a tad old for logo tee shirts now though
 6. 11.
Good idea. You would have to replace the nut though, but that's a fairly simple job.
and ... you can turn yourself down with your forearm! OK I confess, the left handed amp, strings, pick, etc was a joke, well, like a joke only not really funny Took you all a while to pick it up though Nah, Play right handed for 6 months and see how it feels ...
 12.
Which is why everyone else uses a slightly different style: (Picture borrowed from Dood's own website, hope you don't mind chap) Makes alot more sense.
Damn! I was almost over the gas attack that started when I first saw, and held, and played, and coveted, the Doodle .. I'd nearly put all that behind me .. oh well ..

 19.
Aye Blob thats exactly what i'm after So you can special order colours? Cool
ha ha you can do anything if you have enough money That Mark Hoppas Fender is Daphne Blue. £500 from Thomann (big online/mail order music dealer in Germany) Not really a jazz bass though, right handed only I suspect and fairly common on ebay so probably not that good.... http://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_mark_hoppus_bass_rw_db.htm So are you going to get a left or right handed bass?
 20.
Im sure, the price is over the top. Ive fallen for the colour tho, i need to find a J bass with that blue tone
ha ha 2 days in and the GAS has set in already Leeeroy, you might like to have a look around the WIKI area of the site (look at the top of the screen, above the picture of the black bass ..) There's a load of info for people starting out in there. You can see the Fender colours on the Fender.com website. Fender make "re-issue" versions of basses in colours like that. just have a prowl. You'll find something like it, and the colour names. Link to the Fender colour charts Have fun
 21.
Ah, but John Holmes alas is no more whereas Jeff/Ron is very much alive and ****ing
bassing?
 22.
http://www.hendrixguitars.com/Lh707.htm Is this a good guitar? Its damn expensive and looks like it has taken some damage. What is the year about? and is this a collectors item or a guitar you would play on... Thanks, please dont flame me for being the new guy!
Leeroy, You'll have to get used to calling them basses not guitars .. There's a ton of stuff about Fender and the history of the company and basses on the web and in about 2000 books ... You could start on this page from the same website http://www.hendrixguitars.com/FenderBass.htm
 23.
I do have a few I need to sell actually but I never seem to get around to it. And the hard part is not buying more to replace them...
Gosh! Show us your board! Does it have to be George L's plugs?
 24.
Didn't the Beatles play Shea Stadium with only Vox AC30's?
Nah they had the bigger Vox amps and they were miced up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mUXwnEWEnE However it didn't really matter as the audience was screaming at them through a million watts of throat
