2.
That last one's ideal. I tried to get hold of the Quik Lok equivalent in the run-up to the gig but there aren't any in stock in the UK at the moment. Didn't think of Thomann!
They do a bunch of other "clip on the mic stand" stuff that may work better .. have a trawl through. A bit of pedal board velcro to attach it, some velcro cable ties to attach the leads to the stand and bob's your uncle .. Look a lot better too Be sure to follow the instructions with that second one though: "K&M 12À note file - taping bar up to pipe ø 25 mm, surface-careful clamping item. Wood execution, 390 x 140 mm, interiorlaterally with felt pastes. Weight: 0.35 kg. "
 3.
Thanks for the feedback, guys! The main thing bugging me is the Zeroplane poster at the back - belonging to my friends' band who were on after us. The music stand looks a little naff but it was the only stand we could think of for our singer's Kaoss Pad.
just photoshop the poster out I assumed the music stand was for words I don't know how big or heavy the Kaoss pad is but how about a platform that clips on to the mic stand? Thomann do a few http://www.thomann.de/gb/km_12212_notenablage_schwarz.htm
 4.
+1. Why in god's name the 80s headstock? Also, a bit concerned by "NIC-CAD BATTERIES-BUILT IN"... would those be the same nickel-cadmium battery types that have awful discharge characteristics and a high susceptibility to 'memory'? Not the greatest of battery choices for a gigging instrument?
Yeah I'd much rather be able to go to teh offie/guitarist gear box and get a PP3 to shove in
 5. Excellent look .. you are such a cool dude http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3270/295364...659960e.jpg?v=0 I like the closeups in the gallery and you can always photoshop out the music stand

 7. If teh USPS tracking says it's in your local Post Office depot you can go and get it. You don't have to wait for the excise letter.
 8. What does the tracking say? Once it gets to the UK it may sit in a depot whist they dictate, type and post a letter/ransome note to you telling you they have a parcel and you have to pay the VAT and stuff to get it
 9. Not mine, just a heads up .. So which of those sad losers trying to give their tired and dying career a boost was it?
Cheers. Its still work in progress and that's definitely something we need to improve.
Well as you know a recommendation is by far the best thing for getting gigs. This is because the recommendation comes with all of the creedence that the recommender has in the eyes of the person looking for a band. In the absence of that an endorsement on your website from a someone as like your prospective punter as possible is the next best thing. Thus, if you want weddings, you have happy bride and groom quotes, if you want services functions you have a quote from a credible services event organiser, functions you have a top name organisation. If your band has played for a few big names, that makes a lot of difference. The basic format is the same whatever: the testimonial should more or less say: "Everyone had a good time and thought I was brilliant for finding such a great band. You were so professional and nothing was too much trouble. We will certainly recommend you to everyone we know and book you again for our next wedding" Or something like that, plus a clearly not made up name and job title "Sam Davidson, Event coordinator, John Lewis Partnership", or "Samantha and Dave, Bride and Groom", or whatever. That will help.
Cheers - I'm happy to claim responsibility for the website. Its the product of a very wet and dreary weekend on the sofa back in April. I have absolutely no web skills so I was quite chuffed with how it turned out. It only cost £25 for all the software and hosting too!
Yeah it works well .. Adding a few testimonials and quotes from happy punters might make it a tad more effective at pulling in gigs ..
 20.
According to the website, "the [original] Bridgehouse shut its doors to live music in 1982 and was bulldozed into the ground a couple of years ago". The BridgeHouse 2 is a pre-fab warehouse-type building on an industrial estate about 5 minutes from Canning Town tube and the idea was to recreate the vibe of the original, at least as far as the music goes (its not as attractive a building, thats for sure!). It has dedicated blues, rock, metal and punk nights.
ha ha ta .. I'll add that to the long list of places I've played that have been subsequently bulldozed
 21. This looks like a great poster for beginners - classic bass porn and helpful theory tips.
Well to be honest that really only works if your a covers band..... you see we get asked this question a lot ... it's sorta catch 22.... Where can we see you play? Well you can't really cause we only do weddings and corporate which means that every gig is virtually a private affair.... however we've not had one turn down yet because of this.
I think you are in a rather different situation to most of us In your case the potential mothers in law will need to be impressed by your publicity package etc... We usually get punters in to see us at weddings if needed Most of our wedding bookings people are cool with that and probably came along to someone else's wedding to check us out anyway ..
 24. Tennis Club annual dinner 'n' dance. Booked for ages so when that date became "Big National Ceilidh Day" for Water Aid we asked them of we could hijack their gig for one dance for this good cause. They said yes so at 10 pm, us, along with loads of gigs and bands all over the UK and even the US and Canada, were dancing the Circassian Circle to the Jimmy Allen tune ... Great stuff. We raised an impromptu £70 for Wateraid too, just from pocket shrapnel, more or less... The gig itself was good fun. Blowing a fuse on one bank of lights just before we took the stage reminded me of the "I nearly died" thread on here and its talk of us all using the wrong fuses .. ho hmmm .. The audience were all fit people who stayed off the sauce and managed most of the dancing stuff. We managed to film an entire dance all the way through and there's certainly some bemused chaos going on. That may actually make it as our first gig youtube ... They were so polite that they waited about 10 minutes after we'd finished, and until I was well into the post gig schmoozing, to ask for an encore I sent the Ladies Captain off to the changing room to find the rest of the band (in their pants ) and we went back on in mufti Everyone loved it, so a win there ...
 25. Something for the weekend?
