1. Poor dear is obviously confused "This special-edition Jazz Bass features a bound basswood no-pickguard body" er What's that big white patch on the front of the bass then?
 2.
ahhh that would be telling
Bank Job?

 5. || Sold || Price drop to £475 US Vintage Pickups There's marks like this on the fingerboard Full gallery with close ups available. Please PM for a link. Thanks. MIJ Fender Japan PB57US Precision; 57 Re-Issue with USA vintage pickups; USA Non-reverse machine heads; two tone sunburst Alder body; one piece Maple neck and fingerboard; single ply scratchplate; barrel bridge. Switchcraft jack. Not sure about the pots. 1990/91 according to Guitar dater. Weight 8.4lbs, nut 40mm, fairly round profile neck. Fender "dust cover" gig bag. [s]£500[/s] £475 plus post from Cardiff. This bass has some battle scars. There's a chunk out of the lacquer on the front below the scratchplate and more lacquer missing around the heel (see the pictures here and PM for closeups) The neck has marks and patches sometimes seen on older maple necks. Also there's scratches and dings consummate with 20 years of gigs. The US hardware and pickup are solid and loud and the bass feels really "together" like it's all working toward a common aim. It's one of those things that are not meant to be described in words. You'd have to strap it on Anyway I don't normally assign gender to basses but for some reason this one feels like a venerable old woman of rock and more Chrissie Hynde than Suzi Quattro .... She's certainly seen some action and had a few knocks but she has a positive vibe about her that's hard to describe. This is one that I'd keep if I could justify it. I can't so here she is.
 6. || Sold || Thanks for the interest Fingerboard dent near fret 15 Fender Japan non-export Precision "Model 43". Now called the "Standard" Just in case you are reading this from your phone with the images off .... It's three tone sunburst, white/black/white three ply scratch plate and a nice dark rosewood fingerboard. Truss rod adjuster at the sensible end. Full gallery available, PM me for a link, ta. This one has Japanese hardware and pickups. Basswood body. 1993/1994 according to guitar dater. Weight is 7.8 lbs so pretty light. Two significant marks on it - a small scratch on the back and a groovy "whoops, I hit the string into the fingerboard" dent in the fingerboard around fret 15 under the E string (see above) Neither are a problem when playing or particularly visible. Other than that nice condition for a 17 year old. Plays and sounds fine. Comes with a Fender "dust cover" gig bag. I'd like £400 plus post from Cardiff. No trades, sorry.
 7. Since this has broadened out to IKEA hacks for bands ... I use their FRAKTA luggage straps to tie my stack together on stage, to tie my simple lighting boxes to the top of the PA top boxes, to hold the top on my cable box, tie down teh drummer etc etc etc. Loads of uses. £5 a pair.. And I use their cheap black car blanket to cover gear on the back seat. The reflection of the glass makes it really hard to see any gear in the car.
 8.
Back ... and now only £350! 9.
Well, actually medium scale not short (30). The 32" contradicts of course the RI title but nonetheless ....... Excellent basses and of high quality too. Not to mention quite rare. Nut is (if I remember well) at 38mm as usual. I was quite obsessed with medium scales and I used to have a Fender Stu Hamm MIM (the 32" one) and I still have the PB-555 MIJ and an amazingly competent for its price SX Gypsy Rose (with wonderful Toneriders on it). I think everyone has to try a medium scale. Especially if they come in such quality as this one. Sorry for jumpin in.......
Thanks, I'll amend the post to say medium scale. It's not a real re-issue, of course, just a general nod in the direction of the early 6o's style ..
 10.
Damn if I had the monies. Give me a month?
PM'd
 11. OK, I know the rules about feelers but I've been offered a [s]short[/s] medium scale - 32" Fender Japan Jazz Bass So I thought I'd sound out the interest before getting it in from Japan. I've not seen a short scale Fender Jazz before. It's a 62RI, Black with white plate, Alder body, rosewood fingerboard, earth strip, 20 frets, Weighs 9lbs 1993 ish, Japanese hardware and pickups. Not sure on the nut width. Dust cover gig bag. It's going to be around £400 plus the post (from Cardiff, not from Tokyo ) Any interest? Edited to change short to medium...

 13.
sounds interesting, we all know about the cheap ikea amp racks right?
Which ones specifically? There's loads of IKEA hacks ...

 15.
Hi, i wonder if anyone has some advice for me, currently have a tokai hardpuncher (not an 80's one) , but a fairly ok bass, i am however looking to upgrade a bit, have a budget of around £600 ish , i like p basses but would quite like a slightly slimmer neck (more like a jazz) , i have been looking at lakland basses, although have not yet tried one, what does any one think, Although not a p my eye was somewhat taken by lakland skyline decade (although i guess with import i'd be heading way above budget) . I will probably try a go second hand to get most for my money. look forward to your ideas , regards Matt
How wide is the Hardpuncher nut?
 16. Just bought a pair of wooden Speaker Cab Wedges in IKEA. Sorry no name on the wrapper but they are in pairs and about £3. Work fine in pairs to raise the front of your cab by about 1.5 inches... Not exactly a Markbass Wedge but cheap
 17.
Or maybe I'm thinking of the video where he plays with Jeff Berlin.
Now there's a scary concept...
 18. Try Alan Jones? http://www.myspace.com/alanjonesdrummer
 19.
Brilliant. Knitwear was big in the 80's, especially if you had to sleep rough. Somebody should have looked after Jaco and made him feel safe.
Hey! I had that jumper too. Jaco's doctor's son or daughter has posted a comment on that clip. Sad times. Great tune. Love playing it on the sax too. Meanwhile, Jaco always reminds me of Dominique Pinon in the film Delicatessen...
 20.
why does that sound odd? green is the best
Sorry, just thought it did as the key feature of this bass is the orange finish
 21.
that is such an amazing colour, I want one in green!
ha ha That sounds odd....
 22. Oh you sceptics! That's a Turner Prize Winning potential pice of art there ...
 23. Playing the instrument in a bedroom in front of a web cam is not in anyway related to playing live in front of an audience, or playing in a band or playing a session. Mind you I'd have that guy in the Japanese Cosplay dress in an instant. Go down great at weddings ....
 24.
So thats where I went wrong I shoulda took my dean 6 there was me thinking the 4 string was wiser more conservative choice
Well if the Gitarsole was 22 like Chantell and Oli it probably would have been no problem.. I had a band try to tell me which of my basses to bring to an audition with them last year. They failed the audition, not just on that point, but it was certainly a consideration. Anyone who says my Jamerson coloured Shuker Precision is not "traditional" enough needs their head read.
 25.
But sometimes you are judged on what you have. I got invited to play for a blues band, A few comments were made by the guitarist over the fact I had a Thunderbird and not a precision. The fact I hadn't been in a band 5 years wasn't into blues and was only asked to turn up a few days before hand didn't come into it, I should have still came with a precision. I'd hate to see what would have been said if I turned up with a Gene Simmons axe or a Billy Sheenan attitude.
Ah that's the old guard... The new young blues people don't have such problems.. Chantell McGregor's bassist uses a 5 string Shuker single cut and Oli Brown's uses a 6 string Warwck
