  3. So I've been looking into possibly buying the RMI Basswitch IQ DI mostly for doubling on shows but also for gigs when I don't use an amp and can't seem to find the answer to this question anywhere. On an average gig I would put my electric bass through channel B and then the Realist pickup from my upright through channel A where I could change the EQ. All good so far, but I also need a boost/cut for the double bass for when I switch between arco and pizz (pizz is a lot quieter through the realist). Does anyone have any experience of whether this is possible? Thanks in advance!
  4. Sorry mate, only interested in the cash or a 5 string fretless, cheers

    Feedback for James

I bought a P Bass off James, great guy to deal with. He even posted Saturday delivery at his own cost, thanks a lot James!
  6. [attachment=174879:2014-10-27 22.39.41.jpg][attachment=174880:2014-10-27 22.40.06.jpg][attachment=174882:2014-10-27 22.40.25.jpg][attachment=174883:2014-10-27 22.41.42.jpg][attachment=174884:2014-10-27 22.40.16.jpg][attachment=174885:2014-10-27 22.41.19.jpg] Up for sale or trade is my Fender Jazz Lined Fretless, it has been a great bass but I'm finding myself needing a five-string fretless for musicals etc. Looking for a trade or sale now. £280 So trade options are a five string fretless of at least the same value but also willing to add some cash your way. As far as the bass goes I have added quite a lot over the years I've had it. I bought a white pearloid scratchplate for it and the bridge has been upgraded to a Gotoh. I had all the pots and wiring replaced last year too. I have also added a pearloid thumb rest. There are a couple of dents on the bottom (one of which you can't see once a strap is on, neither of which you can see in playing position) and the G string tuner is very slightly bent, but works perfectly. The bass looks great but wanted to mention for the sake of honesty! Here are the photos - let me know what you have to offer in exchange! Cheers Dan
  7. Last year I was having quite a few issues with late cancellations from students and no solid way of dealing with it. About 6 months ago I made up some payment details sheets which they all get at their first lesson. I give all new students a free lesson to get to know me. I now book everyone in four lesson blocks, paid up front (and offer them a 10% discount for doing this) and if cancelled within 48 hours they pay in full - although as it's paid up front there isn't the awkwardness of chasing money for a lesson that didn't happen. All the students/parents are fine with it and it has reduced my cancellations a lot! That said, with the guys I've been teaching for a long while I sometimes waive it a bit and I find generally if you don't mess them around (or give them plenty of notice if you are going to) it seems to work pretty well both ways!
  8. I have a pair of these cabs bought direct from Mike. They sound brilliant and this is a great price!
  9. I have been looking for something like this for a while - lightweight too!
  10. I charge £25/an hour but this is in an area with a lot of pretty well-to-do parents. Also do 10% discounts on booking blocks of four so I'd agree with the £20-£25 others have said. It's worth you knowing that most peripatetic teacher in schools get paid £30+ an hour (at least around here!) On the multiple disciplines, I teach both bass and guitar. All of my playing work these days is on bass but I am a pretty good guitarist (Grade 8 or so) although much more comfortable with bass. There are so many more people looking to learn guitar that nearly 3/4 of my students are guitar. I would say being a good teacher is actually more important that being a good player...to a degree...
  11. Hi all I'm looking to take on a few new students. I teach from my home in Chesham, Buckinghamshire (end of the Metropolitan line) or for those too far away - I do teach by Skype. Have been teaching for 5+ years so plenty of experience. I genuinely enjoy teaching so bring enthusiasm to every lesson and teach all levels of ability and all styles. I can prepare you for Rockschool exams (I have Grade 8, Distinction) and can teach you to read notation as well as working a lot on groove and timing. We can cover the songs you want to learn as well as the general aspects of bass maintenance and playing live and in a band. I teach 4-String, 5-String and Fretless and charge £25 for an hour or £15 for half an hour. Have a look on my website to find out more about me! Feel free to call me or email me for a chat. I give everyone a free first half hour lesson to get to know me and see if I'm the right teacher for them.
