This particular one didn't have a "hump" on the fretboard but the "glue" was at the rear of the neck by the body, but was "bridging" the joint between the neck and the fretboard. Not sure why this was done, but it all sanded off with no ill effect or signs that it was ever there and the joint between the two is perfect.????
Can't be the same one then, and the "hump" wasn't there after I repaired the bass
-
Mmmm, not saying this IS the same bass, but I once repaired on in this colour for a friend, the fingerboard had lifted from the neck, and his dad (a cabinet maker) had simply shoved some glue in the gap, leaving the fretboard humped over the glue. I steamed the fretboard off, removed all the old glue and clamped it back down to where it should have been, turned out great, really low action, dead straight neck I didn't refret it though Anyway, migh not be the same bass. As for the wood, that should be American Walnut on the front of the bass I've had at least 8 of these, love 'em
That is the best story ever! I'd love to own this
He's got 2! There were only around 7 ever made, and I found him 2 of 'em
Those 8-string Biches will be forever Derek Smalls - fantastic: one of the few basses I'd have like a shot, though I'd probably never use in anger. Actually, stuff that: if I had one, I'd use it for everything
Yeah, thanks for bloody reminding me!!!! I accidently found the very bass that was used in the Spinal Tap movie, and arranged for a friend of mine to buy it, I believed Chicago Music Exchange had the Spinal Tap bass, they told me they did, then 6 years later they threw theirs up for sale, I got the serial number of theirs and it was made 3 years after the film was released (they are still heavily hinting theirs is the Spinal Tap Bich) This is the REAL Spinal Tap Bich bass The reason it has red necks now is that when Spinal Tap returned the instruments, they were all in a bad way and sat in my friend's office for over a year before they resprayed them and sold them on, he was the vice president of B.C.Rich The designer of the Bich shape, Neal Moser, has compared the grain patterns and neck cut angles on the red bass to the stills from the film and has confirmed the bass I found is the Spinal Tap Bich, had I friggin' known that at the time, I would have sold a kid or two!!!!!

Yep, 2 B.C.Rich Bich 8 stringers here, a 1979 and a 1985 Supreme (Neck binding, cloud inlays on an Ebaony fretboard) Both are set up as 4 stringers
Basses with a silly shape bought (I may be wholly wrong here...) by bassists who want people to say "look at him, he must be interesting because his bass isn't like all the others."
That'd nearly be me, although I do have justification My first bass was a Rickenbacker, friggin horrible Then I had a choice between a Import B.C.Rich Ironbird or a 1979 USA B.C.Rich Bich, I hated the rear cut of the Bich, and never tried it, but loved the look of the Ironbird, bought it, then actually tried the Bich, and bought that too....... But I only ever buy the 8 string versions of the Bich so as to have an excuse for the horrid rear cut, I have also told the designer, that I thought he was drunk when he designed it The Mockingbirds aren't really that extreme The Widow basses, I love the symetricalness of them I still have an Ironbird, it's away for repair, awesome shape Warlocks, hate the shape, I have one, it was CHEAP Other shapes BCR make or have made Seagulls, Zombies, Wraths, Virgins, Virgos, hate them all, won't be owning one at all BTW, I did play a Bich bass in a Jazz band! Here's my Ironbird and here's my Warlock
You have the makings of an excellent bonfire there, sir!
a F*****g expensive bonfire, get the terminology correct And there are 2 B.C.Riches missing from the picture too, a Snakeskin NJ Warlock bass which was away for repair and a 1985 USA handmade Ironbird, which Chris Eccleshall has in for repair, so I shalln't see that for a very long time

Totally regret selling an Ibanez Roadstar II bass, well, I think I sold it, it just disappeared, I can't remember selling it, but I don't own it anymore and every Washburn Status I've ever owned

Those of a nervous disposition, look away now or you'll puke Basses I'll never own 1) Fenders, floorboards the lot of 'em 2) Overpriced Fender Clones (Sadowkies etc), why pay much more than the real floor boards cost, for the same thing with a different name on the headstock? 3)Musicmans, played loads of them, only ever found 1 that was nice 4) Warwicks, you charge that much for them, and don't even laquer them 5) Singlecuts, lazy Luthiers couldn't be bothered to finish the job 6) Fanned frets, drunk Luthiers shouldn't have finished the job 7) Rickenbackers, my first bass was one, hated the laquered fret board 8) Gibsons, you couldn't throw grabbers away years ago, then that idiot from green day and the one from Nirvana used Gibbo's and they were suddenly a "Must have" Bass 9) Wals...Why? I liike Headless basses, I like Sei basses (Except the Fender clones and singlecuts) and I like Statii

Delivering a bass in a large flightcase - cost and wrapping?
I had a Warwick hard case turn up in a cardboard box with the word "Fragile" all over it. Who said the Germans don't have a sense of humour?
I once had an American B.C.Rich handmade bass sent to me from the USA, in a cardboard box, no hard case, minimal packing inside the box, and to top it all off, the box was at least 4 inches too short, so they just cut a hole for the headstock to stick clean through the end of the box (With NO bubblewrap or anything on it) It actually made it here unscaved! -
Delivering a bass in a large flightcase - cost and wrapping?
Lorne replied to Clarky's topic in General Discussion
Huh, call that a flight case!, now this IS a flight case! I had to have it custom made for the rediculously large bass that lives in it (Adrenaline Flight cases are awesome if you're looking for one- they did not line it with the velvet though) Here is how it turned up I had a flightcase sent to me once covered with bin bags! I agree with others, if you don't cover it with cardboard, then use loads of packing tape to make sure it doesn't pop open in the truck or the driver doesn't sneak a peak! -

Lorne, after all that effort you have to pray that there is nothing else like it on the planet!!

...and I'm guessing you aren't the guy to ask if you want a dep for a MOR swing band eh?

Hey, why not, I played in a Jazz band with a B.C.Rich Bich 8 string

I handcut 26 pieces of brass and polished them, and got them Chromed, I also cut a Brass truss rod cover and got that chromed as well Not perfect, but good enough for now

I always wanted this bass Unfortuntely Blackie Lawless of W.A.S.P. sold it for $5000 3 months before I joined the internet So, I bought a brand new one finally in 2007, cost a bloody fortune and was too nice to mod, so I managed to find a 1994 customshop one and started the project (1994 o the left, 2007 on the right) Bass was striped and had binding done by Chris Eccleshall, I supplied the inlays bridge, and tuners
