    Ah... Thanks for that; I'll sleep slightly wiser tonight than I would otherwise have done. I'm heartened to think that BC members are taking such an interest in gardening, although such devotion to this humble pulse food surprises me a little. One learns a little something every day..!

    To judge from Photo 3, the 'Pre/Post' switch lever has been snapped off. It should look like the Ground Lift switch seen in the foreground of the same photo. Hope this helps.

    We don't, and we'd rather not have to, if only the people elected were of better quality. European political figures come in for some stick too, of course, when they're bastards, so all are fair game; it's not just the Yanks.

    I started playing guitar and bass in my teens; I'm now about to turn 68 and I'm still no blinkin' good at either. This proves that starting early is not a guaranteed recipe for succeeding. Any age is good, as long as the criteria as in posts above are in place (motivation and the time to put into learning...). I'd recommend a tutor, at least at first, as being a 'fast-track' to playing decently (at any age...). Good luck with it all...

That's what I thought when the present incumbent was bidding for the job, and we know how that turned out..!     Trading an item is not what the 'Wanted' section is for. You may place an ad in the 'Basses For Sale' section, giving the value of the item to be traded, and specifying 'Trade only; no cash sale'. Any bass can be offered or asked for as a trade, except, of course, Rickenbacker basses, as BC cannot guarantee the authenticity of such instruments. Trading a 35" scale for a 34", for instance, is perfectly permissible, provided that the valuation of the bass is correct. Hope this helps.
