1. Tonight I'm going to try my Super12T with my Ashdown ABM1000 , Before I do so I can't remember what the cab can take wattage wise ?
2. I don't know why I'm faffing around I'm going to end up getting one aren't I .
3.
Had to google Mega cone! Very interesting! We always mic, even in a small ish place, just bleed enough through to bring the thud to the front. Did this thing add a lot of volume/depth to the kick drum?
It gave it a tight thud , just as though it had been mic'd up & eq'd .
4. Is it worth carry a sub to mic up the bass drum for standard Pub gigs ? I use to for the quality but I saw a drummer the other night using a Mega cone & it sounded as though it was going through the PA .
5. Thanks for those comments , I love the sound of the 12T but the problem I have is that playing in small pubs I'm standing right on top of the rig & find it really hard to hear any clarity & was wondering if the different tweeter would help , being 6ft4 doesn't help .
6. Has anyone A/B these ? I have the 12T but wondering if it's worth upgrading . cheers.
7. Yes the height would be the same & that's fine I was wondering if the 15" on the bottom would project more bass 20ft from the rig than the 2 x 10 does . I'll only find out by trying that set up .
8. It's the height I need for monitoring , I've tried putting the cab on a flight case etc , I wonder If I could do the same as you have but with a smaller BF cab on op of the 12T ?
9. It's the sound at that distance , that concerns me , My Barefaced super 12T is very good at projecting the sound , I've been using the Ashdowns stacked because I get a clearer sound standing close to my rig. I think I'm going to sell the lot & get two Barefaced cabs to stack .
10.
Have you checked what it sounds like out front (with a long lead or someone else playing)? What you hear on stage can be wildly different to what it sounds like in the audience.
That's what I did I loved my sound from where I normally stand but find the lower tones not projecting out very well .
11. My Ashdown Rig is 2 x 2x10 neo cabs , would swapping one of the cabs for a 15" of the same make & model add more depth to the sound out front in a pub gig situation when not going through a PA , Or should I just experiment more with my EQ ?
12. My First was a JJB after trying JJs at a Stranglers sound check , If you want a great quality precision I would forget Fender & go for this model , built to work , quality is very high . My second is a 36" made to my spec Jon got it spot on , Jon has a real passion for what He does .
13. I have the ABM1000 & ABM 400 , with ABM neo cabs The ABM combos have the ABM400 & a great .
14. I had custom made earplugs from Vision express about £120 well worth the money , You can change the filters or convert into monitors .They are really comfy & sounds just like everything is turned down equally .
15. I have the ABM1000 & two 2 x Neo cabs sound wise alone it's just fantastic , very light , & looks dead cool ....get one ! I 've had a Ampeg 8x10 & SVT & for me it was very heavy , It didn't have the very useful effects the Ashdown has , & build quality was poor .
16. On some reviews why do they leave out the country of manufacture Eg Tecamp puma 900 made in Germany . Laney Nexus ?? or do they want us to presume it's made in the UK until we buy on only to find made in China written on the back ?
17. Withdrawn .
18. I thought it was only me , I have radio 4 on & only listen to music if I'm working out a set , I'm much more into performing & going to live gigs .
19. Does anyone use them ? Do you really need a studio demo ? How can they tell if you're any good from it ?
20. At the moment we are sticking with the SM58 as we have the bass drum mic'd up & the slight bleed through seems to work well but it's early days .
21. Thanks for all the advice
22. I've been lucky enough to own & A/B the ABM1000 against a Mesa Boogie 400+ , Mark bass mrk3, mark bass little Rocker , Mark Bass Mo mark , TC 250(that's never 250watts) It sounds like no other digital amp I've tried it's just great loads more oooomph & clarity than any of the above & easy to carry .
23. I've now used the ABM1000 with the NEO cabs in anger several times ...... just get one !
24. Our Drummer is also our main singer , He is swapping from using His Electric Roland Kit to an Acoustic Kit , at the moment He just uses a SM58 I was just wondering if He should be using something else ....I guess we will soon find out .
