I'll see how well it works .

When buying something new I wonder if anyone else takes as much time on reading up & asking questions about the product etc ..mainly on bass related products..to the point where Jon Shuker , Lee at Ashdown & Alex at Barefaced develop a nervous twitch when they see an email from me

New drummer found, now guitarist is off on one...
Kevin Dean replied to AndyTravis's topic in General Discussion
If things get to loud & out of control usually because of the guitarist , I would stop everyone & just say "can you hear the bass drum " if you can't it's because you are too loud & not listening " I hope it works out . -
Ashsdown ABM400 or 1000 are excellent .
-
PMT on line sent me some none ported in error , try them .
-
Mine are the ported ones , & I've sold them pending the usual, These are excellent cabs the only reason I'm moving them on is that my Barefaced 12T is even lighter & I will soon be getting a couple of smaller Barefaced cabs mainly because of my poor back . As a pair they are very close to the 12T , & a fuller sound than my MarkBass 2 x 4x8 cabs & more punch than the Markbass 121H plus 12NY set up I use to have , plus they look dead cool & well made.
If there wasn't then we wouldn't make both!
Good point

An ideal alternative to the Big Baby 2 for smaller stages - which will pair up as an awesome stack for very loud gigs
That's off of your Web site So I thought perhaps it's just louder ?
Since you aren't getting much response I'll chip in my experience of ownership of 6+ years of a G1 Compact and G2 Midget and now owning a G3 Super Midget and G3 BB2. All the above are excellent cabs. I could still be happy with the G1/2 cabs but circumstances conspired to make me change my cabs last year. Firstly, based on my BB2 I imagine a G3 Compact would carry 99% of my gigs. They are loud and full sounding on their own and any louder you should really be through the PA. Still, having a Compact and Midget gives you 3 rigs meaning you're 100% sure you can cover ANY gig. A Super Compact + Super Midget would be great sounding and very loud - if that's what you need, and flexible for the smallest to the largest gig. My BB2 always gets used if there's enough space and it has never disappointed. My band love it. I've been told by the band never to sell my BF gear. Anyway, if you didn't like it you could return it and get your money back but I don't think you'd be doing that from my experience of Barefaced. Frank.
Thanks Frank , Is there a difference in sound between the BB2 & the Super Midget . -
Just to let you know the Shuker 36" fits the Mono case , thanks for every ones Help .

(SOLD) Plays really well , great working bass , just has a few dings . I'm not keen on posting , I would be willing to come over to Portsmouth Harbour .based Ryde isle of Wight . Might be intersted in trading against an English made 5 string .
Have you asked Jon Shuker to recommend one ?
I didn't think to ask , But I know he had to order the hard case especially for mine , I've just ordered a mono case from GAK , pics when it arrives .
Take it appart (or have someone with expertise do it for you), hose down everything except the drivers (make sure you clean it very well), leave it all to dry indoors. Barefaced cabs are well braced so your cab may not develop warp. Pay especial attention to the wiring and plugs, after hosing them and leaving to dry spray them with contact cleaner spray. As for the drivers, i believe that the coil of the Kappalite 3015 is vented (if it has a hole on the back of the driver) and if that's the case the driver may be ruined as water might have entered the inside of the coil and dirt may have build up. A recone would be the cheaper way to repair them. There's a chance that they haven't caught dirt and they'll work after drying, if that's the case clean the allready dry cone gently with a brush to remove most of the dirt. Don't try to force it or expect it to look like new, you'll ruin the cone before getting to that point. Talk with Alex and see if he offers you any kind of repair service/quote.
I'd also see if you can borrow a dehumidifier & leave it next to it for a few days . It worked on an old ampeg 8 x10 that I lent to some one that didn't tell me it was being used outside with very little cover in the rain & left over night .

I didn't discover I was dyslexic until I was 37 , I certainly can't track notes ... I have met several top session guys eg Tony Levin who told me that they can read music but can't remember the last time they were asked to .

Supposed to have a final dress rehearsal before gigging , I made it clear this was my only week off in the year so if no one could make it ill go on holiday , everyone put themselves out & the singer doesn't turn up , get a text 4 hours after week packed up saying they had tummy trouble & was only just getting better , Our guitarist had seen him walking down the road 3 hours earlier , I could see he had been on FB until the early hours . what would you do ?

Thanks for every ones tips & advice .
Looking at the range, I reckon Alex made his recommendation based on both the quoted pick style and the high frequency horn/speaker in the Big Twin 2. Though the Super Compact will go to the same frequencies as the Super 12T without the tweeter, just adding in a little bit on the S12T does make a fair difference (fresh in my mind as I did this last night). What I did for a while was get a case for my leads from Flightcasewarehouse, and put the S12T on top of that - raised it some 9/10 inches. Must admit it didn`t seem to make much difference as the cab is just so good. Love the idea of two BB2s though - pretty much a dream rig, plenty of power and tall enough on-stage as well. I can`t use my two S12Ts stacked as am too paranoid about them toppling - not that I need the pair of them for many gigs anyway.
According to their web site to Super 12T range is 37---22 kHz & the super compact is only 37--4khz , I do have the horn on about 35--40% So the compact & Midget might be the way to go , As Alex advised I'll probably get the compact first & try it .

Barefaced generation 3 Super compact & Super midget.

Doesn't anyone have this set up ? -
It's one of those things where it pays to read the manual & set the pick up & programme the scale length in properly , The only issue I have is the lead , I think it could do with a more sturdy connection , I'm getting Jon Shuker to build the pic up module into my bass . apart from that it's replaced a keyboard player . & the rest of the band like it .
-
My Shuker is 1230mm in length ( not including strap locks ) body is 600mm , & quite a few makes are only 1200 , It doesn't help when the manufactures don't publish the sizes .
-
Can anyone recommend one , be nice to have space for leads etc , only doing pub gigs not flying . & be nice to have a shoulder strap .
-
Post your pictures, Lets see what you all look like.
