1. Does anyone have this set up ? Comments please . Thank you.
2.
Isnt that essentially what the super compact is - a BB2 without a horn ?, they are even the same width for non-OCD inducing stackability
The super compact is shallower & according to their figures doesn't go as low .
3. Having to separate 1 x10s isn't going to work the same way as a 2x10 cab , I wonder of you can hear the difference ?
4.
He'd have sold at least two more 210's if he did them in 8ohm Apparently there are complicated reasons not to do that.
That's probably because they would have 2 different range of ohm speakers made for them . perhaps if they offered a discount if you ordered more than one cab , that might influence people to get 2 x8 ohm or 3 x 12ohm cabs ?
5.
You want a sub to play bass through?
What I meant is a BB2 with out the tweeter , to go on the bottom .
6. While I'm lieing here with a knackered back ,& looking at the Barefaced web site .I'm thinking why doesn't Alex offer the powers sub as a none powered cab ,turn it up side down with logo where the tweeter would be so it could be used under the standard BB2 ,making an even lighter version of the Big Twin II ,bring the cost down slightly of having two BB2s & why aren they 19" wide ? Must be an acoustic thing .
7. Oh ! My ! God ! I was just driving up with the cash , bugger !

9.
Sit a Super Compact under the 212 and use a 2 ohm amp.
I love my Ashdown, plus that would be too high . I also tried raising it onto flight case but that effected the sound .
10.
Might be easier and a lot cheaper to get some kind of stand or something to angle the cab so you can hear it?
I always place the my pa mixer on top of my rack amp that sits on top of the cab as we play in pretty tight areas . & I've tried that type of amp before they just don't get as good as sound out front without PA support .
11. I currently use a Super 12T It's great , but I want something that's going to be higher for nearside monitoring , Alex suggested the Big Twin ll , (two BB2s is a bit to costly for me ) As I only have the tweeter on slightly , I'm wondering if I might be better off with two Gen 3 super compacts , for two reasons , The height will be better & the the speakers are higher in the cab , & my back isn't great these days . I mostly play plectrum style . another question is would the two compacts move more air than a Big twin ll as there are more ports ?
12. more evidence of the fact I'm the thickest person I know .Clever chap.
13. It may be of interest that the Bass lounge have for sale a ABM 2 x 10 neo combo The head is normally £695 & cab £540 , I have the head & it's flipin fantastic , you could also take the head out of the combo & get a rack kit for it .

Fantastic pedal , I have both & might consider selling them only because I have a Roland GR55 ..
15. I'm letting these go , they are fantastic cabs , But I already have a Barefaced 12T & my main concern is ease of transport . Having said that they only weigh 44lbs each . They are front ported & come with covers .One of the cabs has been gigged once , each cab is 500W RMS . I'm looking for £700 for both including cover & I'm willing to bring over to Portsmouth if you want to collect from the harbor or I might be taking the van up to oxford over the next few days if you want to meet on route .
16. This is true , I've used both live & had compliments on both , The main issue I have is the monitoring when I'm close up to the cabs . The barefaced not being high enough .
17. I spent this after noon A/B ing these two set ups . I really really wanted the Bareface to sound way better because of the ease of carrying it around .But with the amp set flat the Ashdowns had the sound I like straight away . The main difference being in the low Mids . the Ashdowns have a nice rounded/smooth punch , compared to the barefaced that sound a bit harsh & empty in comparison .Once I started playing with the EQ however it didn't take long to get very close to the sound of the Ashdowns .Not bad considering the 12T is less weight than one of the Ashdowns & the Ashdown are only 44lbs each .Both are high end cabs & if I was fitter I would probably stick to the Ashdowns But I'm not & for me I think the way to go would be to sell both & get a Big twin two .I did like the sound of the Barefaced 2 x10 on the Doods video but I have no idea of how much air it could move .
18. I try to support UK businesses as best I can , I use Shuker , ( occasionally Status ) Ashdown (UK versions only ) & Barefaced .. All great stuff The Ashdown Neo cabs are great but I find myself using the one barefaced cab mainly for convenience & to give my poor back a rest . But then I feel bad if I've just spoken to Ashdown for advice on the Amp knowing I'm using the Barefaced ... I'm just being a ponce aren't I .
19. I have a markbass 1 x 8" combo & a 40w peavey 1 x10" neither are boomy , but the quality of the MB stands out a mile .
20. a couple of times at band practice it just didn't work until I wobbled the connection a bit ,I might try a bit of switch cleaner on the pins .
21. EMG pick up positioned for my style , 36" scale & quite a bit of carbon in the neck to keep it stable for D tuning & it has a piano like tone as requested .
22. The 1 x15 I think is 350 w , I've gigged with one 2 x10 several times 500w RMS & it worked fine (both ported ), I used two to get the height for monitoring .Like I said before the reason I use the barefaced 12T is that it does the same job that both the Ashdown cabs do but half the weight , The Ashdowns are not heavy at 44lbs each but when you a bad back it makes a difference .
23. I have 2 x 1x10 neo cabs ..they are excellent ..The only reason I favour my Barefaced is that it's even lighter .
24. Thinking about it I did ask for dark black
25.
It's a dream a lot of people have, but having seen the results of many self-designed basses, I can only come to the conclusion that though one may be a great bass player, one is not always necessarily a great bass designer.
Get Jon to help you . Me " Hi Jon would you build me a bass ?" Jon "yes sure what type " Me " A black one " over a hundred emails later & it was done
