What's happened here is that Teenage Sprog has prevailed on Parent to buy the thing to do GCSE Music with, then lost interest and decided to do a different course. Parent is now trying to recoup the cost. Sprog might yet actually learn to play, if left alone, but I suspect Parent is quite annoyed and has decided that Sprog can buy guitars with Sprog's own money. I have some sympathy with this position Just to add confusion to the mix, the bass is being advertised under false pretences, as something it isn't. I'm not quite sure why, but the no-name probably has a lot to do with it.

Hi folks I've been offered a passive, neck-through five-string, decently made, stamped 'Enigma' on the headstock; pups are two big humbuckers. No visible serial number, no model number. I've tried several web searches, and found pretty much nothing - a few copies of other designs (Precision, Strat, SG). The owner wants £250 for it, and claims it cost £350. I think it's probably a good deal, but I also think it would have zero resale value. So I'm a bit wary of it. Does anyone know anything about these?

Hi folks Can anyone point me to a wiring diagram for a Cirrus BXP, please? Mine is eating batteries, and I've heard interesting stories about some of them coming from the factory miswired, so I'm reluctant to just accept that it's correct as it is. Thanks! Thank you both, much appreciated. I can't move one of them at all, but the other definitely opens. I think I'd better glue it. It has other issues - missing nut holding the three-way switch, woodscrews and washers holding the strap (!!) (those went ASAP, but I will probably have to plug and drill the body to put sensible strap pins on), a nasty crackle on two of the switch settings, the switch endcap is missing, and quite a few dents bumps and bangs. So I may well wind up stripping it for parts.

I've just acquired a Yamaha BB450, 4-string, bolt-on neck held by four screws. There are cracks in the wood of the body from both the screws at the neck (open) end of the pocket. I've removed the neck to have a look, and it's definitely cracks in the wood, not just the lacquer. The bloke I got it from bought it sight unseen from eBay a few years back - my guess is that it was dropped or stressed badly in transit, since I can't see any obvious sign of a harsh blow to the headstock. How serious an issue is this? It's not something I've seen before. Any comments welcome.
